Read the community guidelinesBasically, the company does not leave out anything stipulated by the Labor Standards Act; in fact, it complies with the regulations quite well. After all, this company is very afraid of being sued and getting into trouble.
A company with absolutely no integrity
Branches:
The situation at each branch basically depends largely on the store manager and management. The staff turnover rate is extremely high; during my time there, I went through seven store managers.
Promotions and raises depend entirely on who you are dealing with. They are very good at making empty promises—talking about your future and what you might want to do. At this company, you cannot believe anything unless it is written down and signed in black and white.
The job responsibilities are extremely complicated. Things that would normally be handled by specialized departments in a department store are, at this company, really—sorry, but we have limited manpower—every unit handles a huge number of miscellaneous tasks. You are often completely confused, wondering, “What the hell does this have to do with me?” Staffing is truly kept to the absolute minimum.
Head office:
There are constant power struggles among many senior managers, often making it impossible for the branches to work. If A wants to do things one way, A’s archenemy B will start making trouble. One moment they demand one standard, and the next moment another, leaving people completely at a loss and emotionally exhausted.
They are always one step too slow in handling issues. Problems reported by the branches never receive timely responses. After all, they are not the ones who have to deal with angry customers when something goes wrong.
The various announcements are also excessively unreasonable. I have never seen a company whose regulations are changed every year. Most importantly, what kind of company still has not released its subsidy policy even though a quarter of the year has already passed? The bonus policy had not been changed for four or five years. Then, when certain stores exceeded their targets by a large margin and were entitled to several months’ salary under the existing rules—and even after the bonus statements had been issued—they suddenly told us they were changing the bonus policy. Sorry, this year’s announcement has not been released yet; we are changing the bonus policy this year. Most importantly, the Q4 2020 bonus policy was revised in 2021 to deduct bonuses. Who could possibly accept that?
The year-end evaluations are also a complete mess. The rules make everything look polished and comprehensive, but they are only for show. Once they reach head office, they are still manipulated. Some managers even receive less than the employees under them. What kind of calculation results in managers earning less than ordinary staff?
I sincerely advise anyone considering working for this company not to do so.

1. All rules and regulations are absolutely legal and compliant.
2. It is an unwritten rule that employees are never laid off, so staying until retirement is no problem.
3. The benefits system is very comprehensive. If you work at a profitable large store, the bonuses are usually pretty good.
4. Super suitable for newcomers to level up and see the harsh realities of society.
5. Senior employees are great at slacking off and can develop a side hustle (provided they let go of their shame and sense of responsibility).
6. There is a high proportion of young employees, so horizontal communication is usually not much of a problem (unless you run into someone who doesn't use their brain).
1. The company's largest department is the Finance Department. As long as Finance says no, it doesn't matter whether the budget has been allocated—if they say you can't spend it, you can't spend it. As a result, every department automatically turns into the Finance Department. (For example, when Department A is consulted, the purpose is to confirm whether a plan or design can be further optimized, but the department's response is: “I don't see any usable budget.”)
2. Continuing from the above, Finance basically has the final say on all rules and regulations. For example, something may clearly use Process B today, but when the same kind of thing needs to be handled next time, a bunch of new rules and missing documents suddenly appear. You often have to apologize to vendors because of this. (Finance just shrugs and says: “You have to communicate with the vendor yourselves.”)
3. The general manager basically never helps coordinate or resolve any problems. She only asks, “So how are you going to handle it?” (?) Even if you give her a complete solution, as long as the approach would make it difficult for her to report to the chairman, she will make things difficult, delay them, send them back for more information, and do everything possible to make you give up and absorb the problem yourself. The impression conveyed by all kinds of incidents, big and small, is simply: “Just don't let the chairman yell at me,” rather than “How can we help the company build its brand and increase sales?” (The group's quarterly meetings are basically live broadcasts of senior executives publicly dying of embarrassment; watching the chairman chew people out is strangely therapeutic.)
4. The HR department head only makes empty promises. One second, she tells you to swallow unreasonable work as training, saying that everyone must get through difficult times together and that the company values and appreciates you; the next second, when it comes to a raise, she says, “Please ask your direct supervisor to fight for it. There's nothing I can do—that's your supervisor's responsibility.” When a branch wants to hire more people, she pulls out the pitifully streamlined staffing plan and says, “We're fully staffed right now,” completely disconnected from the realities of the business floor.
5. The promotion and reward policies are only written to look good. The layers of screening are supposedly meant to select talent, but you waste time compiling a pile of documents, only to end up with a temporary section-chief or temporary project position for years, or simply get told goodbye. Meanwhile, people who belong to the right faction can get promoted easily with nothing more than a supervisor's signature.
6. Continuing from the above, factionalism is extremely serious. If you have a good relationship with the right people, even if all you do is yell around the branch over trivial matters and you can't do anything besides look at the numbers, you can still sit securely in an associate manager position or even get promoted and sent to the group headquarters.
7. Again, because of this, internal work information circulates extremely poorly. Everyone is afraid of the hassle and does not want to increase their workload, so nobody wants to consolidate anything. In the end, the same problems keep happening repeatedly, and when something major goes wrong, people pass the buck, issue disciplinary actions, and find scapegoats.
8. The company is incredibly exploitative toward vendors. Front-line staff are the ones who bear vendors' dissatisfaction anyway, while senior management simply does not care. Many good vendors and brands are scared away after working with the company just once, while a whole group of favored vendors is cultivated with extremely arrogant attitudes. Nobody knows whether anyone is going to solve the problem or deal with the people who actually do the work.
9. The chairman is clearly a capable and far-sighted person and is fairly kind toward front-line employees, but is genuinely terrible at choosing people, having appointed a bunch of strange individuals as senior executives.
10. Finally, when reporting overtime, they force you to take a half-hour break first. What kind of nonsense is that? And you have to apply in advance or it doesn't count? Then please ask people at headquarters not to request information right before the end of every workday, saying that it's urgent and that some general manager needs to see it at a meeting the next morning!
There are no advantages.
Please do not believe what is written on job-search websites. They have employees carry out work unrelated to the position they applied for, with no bottom line. A three-person department was reduced to just one person, while headquarters seemed to turn a blind eye!
If you are passionate about your work, please think it through carefully.
There are 24 hours in a day, and 8 hours are devoted to work. Please cherish your life and make the right choice.
A high degree of freedom
The supervisor had just started and could say that they didn’t know how to do anything.
But when I tried to teach them or explain the things that a supervisor in that position would normally need to assist with, they simply ran off while shouting, “I’m not listening, I’m not listening.”
I have no idea how long they’ve been working here, yet they still keep saying that they don’t know how to do anything and don’t know anything.
Why does your company always specifically look for this kind of person?
None
This interview was conducted by two people: a manager and an HR representative. The HR representative was extremely off-putting. The manager asked far fewer questions than the HR representative. As others have said, this HR representative kept asking you about the current challenges the company is facing. At the end, they said they would notify me within seven business days. After that, as others have said, there was no response at all.
What left me most bewildered was that the manager did not ask many questions, while the HR representative kept asking questions unrelated to the position......
If you genuinely want to slack off, there’s absolutely no problem.
Playing games at work is tolerated as long as you have a good relationship with your supervisor.
1. Overtime cannot be reported! Even when you report overtime, they forcibly deduct half an hour.
It’s very common for sudden miscellaneous tasks or orders from headquarters to delay the original work schedule, making overtime necessary.
But overtime cannot be reported!! Because the supervisor believes this means you are unable to manage your own time!
2. Thirty minutes are forcibly deducted from all overtime because of supposed breaks and so on. The company assumes you will eat or rest for half an hour before starting overtime again! You’re already working overtime—who would still feel like eating there? So you often end up giving the company free hours! The supervisor also considers this perfectly normal.
3. Human resources might as well not exist; it’s extremely bad.
4. They often suddenly demand this or that, or headquarters says they need something immediately, throwing everyone into chaos.
They also frequently make thoughtless, brainless demands and proposals that ruin the branches, while headquarters continues to enjoy eating and clocking in and out at normal times.
5. The promotions team is understaffed. Every time props, stages, or similar items need to be moved, and even when events are held, they have to ask other departments for help. It’s incredibly pathetic.
6. You often have to pay expenses upfront and then slowly wait for the company to reimburse you. You only earn so much a month, yet you’re expected to front the money first—and the total can be tens of thousands. That’s not a small amount.
7. Whether or not you like department stores, and whether or not you have dreams, please don’t come to Global Mall. If you want to experience a disgusting company culture, you can come and see for yourself.
Year-end bonuses are fairly generous.
Severely understaffed, with an extremely high turnover rate.
Sometimes employees are even required to pay expenses out of pocket.
Whether at headquarters or branch offices, there is serious infighting, policies change constantly, and connections are everything.
One manager has an extremely close relationship with a senior executive, and the two frequently arrive and leave together.
The manager dresses inappropriately (wearing backless mules and a claw clip), fails to do the work she is supposed to do, and rarely attends the weekly regular meetings.
No one says anything at all. If it were anyone else, they would have been severely reprimanded long ago.
For important meetings with vendors, she frequently disappears to use the restroom, and senior managers even ask managers from other departments to attend the meetings in her place.
She often waits until working hours have already begun to suddenly say that she will not be coming into the office because she has to meet with a vendor. I have also never seen her successfully recruit anyone.
There is also a certain manager who, if they take a dislike to you or think you are not part of their circle, will openly bully you and form cliques to exclude you.
They also frequently yell behind the backs of people they dislike in the office, saying things like “fucking homosexual,” “sissy,” “loser,” and “idiot.”
They frequently harass female colleagues and like to touch female colleagues’ heads.
They completely ignore it when someone clearly tells them that their behavior is unwelcome.
They once even forced a female colleague who was wearing a mask to remove it so they could see her face.
Afterward, they commented on the female colleague’s appearance behind her back.
They frequently shop online and go browsing during working hours.
As a result, they do not even understand many basic administrative tasks.
As far as I know, two people have already resigned because of them.
They have also been the subject of several public or anonymous complaints.
Yet the company’s senior management continues to persuade these people to stay.
The reviews on Job中有沒有搞錯 are all true.
Fortunately, I got out.
The only advantage is being able to communicate about work with many brand partners.
There is severe infighting within the group, and managers and others at the assistant-director level often berate everyone together, using extremely harsh language! In addition, they seem to enjoy it only when they badmouth others behind their backs and form cliques. Yes! I’m talking about Global Mall at MRT A19 Station, Mr. Chou, the management manager, and Ms. IRXX from the leasing department (I heard she has since been transferred). You really are a cancer—always stirring up trouble and forming cliques, with no class. You’re truly a perfect fit for Global Mall.
The Banqiao store is very close to the MRT. That's about it.
The problems started with the head office.
They like to pay homage to events held by other department stores, but never learn how to do it properly. The systems are constantly changed back and forth, with multiple versions of the same event. From time to time, they also add last-minute promotional activities without caring whether the branches are understaffed or able to handle the workload. Every meeting is just a group of managers revolving around one empress dowager: when she is in a good mood, everything is fine; when she is in a bad mood, everything has to start over. The branches are even worse. People with absolutely no relevant experience can be promoted to managerial positions. All you need is to be good at flattering others, shameless enough, and skilled at spouting nonsense. Since you are not the one carrying out the work anyway, you can just throw out any brainless proposal and put it into practice. When something goes wrong, you can then lead everyone in criticizing it. If someone is disliked or cannot make her look good, they will do everything possible to get that person removed, spread rumors everywhere, and spend all day doing nothing but gossiping about others. Apparently, the people who are able to stay are mostly like this—and they are all managers.
If you have good ideas and genuinely want to get things done, there are other places you can go. I have never seen such an awful and disgusting company, yet they loudly promote themselves as a “happy workplace.” Well, I suppose that makes sense, considering how many thick-skinned people there are.

There are far too many things to criticize about this company...
1. The working hours are extremely long, and there are an overwhelming number of miscellaneous tasks and business duties. Staffing is insufficient, and even when fully staffed, the manpower in each unit can hardly be considered adequate. As a result, the company has an extremely high turnover rate; it is not uncommon even for colleagues who have worked in other department stores to be scared away.
2. The company’s decisions feel as though a few senior executives suddenly think of something during a meeting and then require branches to implement it or propose improvement measures without providing concrete execution guidelines, making it feel very much like they have lofty ambitions but little practical ability.
3. The SOPs are changed whenever management feels like it, and the various benefits require more and more procedures to complete each time they are revised. It is difficult not to suspect that the company is trying to reduce its expenses in this area.
4. Many supervisors do not come from professional backgrounds and merely serve temporarily because their department has no supervisor.
5. Internal conflict is quite serious in some units. People often badmouth other colleagues behind their backs and even ostracize them. There are also many people with extremely poor attitudes, but supervisors basically allow it to continue, making the working atmosphere throughout the branch very unpleasant.
6. The division of responsibilities within the organization is very unclear. The same matter is often passed from one person to another; basically, whenever someone is too lazy to handle something, they just tag @ALL and @營業 in the group chat.
The location is fairly convenient~ it’s above the station
The interviewers were extremely unacceptable~
They directly brought up the problems and goals the company is currently facing
and asked the candidate to come up with solutions and plans on the spot~ and explain them in great detail.
When the candidate asked questions in return~ the interviewers surprisingly did not even know how to achieve the KPI or solve the problems themselves.
They also kept repeatedly going in circles, demanding that the candidate provide detailed approaches~ the content
was essentially stealing the candidate’s ideas~ absolutely terrible!!
The interviewers were a woman and a very old, white-haired man.
Neither had any professionalism~ when asked about the job duties~ they only said that you would do this and that as well~
which essentially meant they expected you to handle everything~
When asked about the overtime policy~ they replied: “How could there possibly be no overtime~ it should be okay, right!!”
The salary offered was low~ and the professionalism was lacking.
Most importantly, they would steal the candidate’s ideas~ absolutely terrible

A company with absolutely no structure; managers do whatever they want.
They assign subordinates to plan and execute tasks, approve the work initially, then later scrap it themselves and expect the subordinates to apologize to the partner vendors.
They show not the slightest respect for the effort each person puts into their work.
This alone is more than enough reason not to stay.
I sincerely want to discourage everyone considering joining Global.
Don’t ignore everyone’s reviews here.
Once you join, you’ll find that everything they say is true.
Overall, the interview went quite well, and the interviewer also seriously explained the job responsibilities and showed a good understanding of you.
They took it upon themselves to tell the job seeker that they had been hired, and even told the job seeker to turn down all other jobs and interviews. Then, at the last minute, they changed their decision and gave the position to someone else. This was extremely disrespectful to the job seeker. If they could not make the decision, they should not have said such things.

1. If you are someone who gets things done or wants to get things done, absolutely do not come to Universal. This place will let you experience what it means to be capable and burdened with more work. People who do not work, have thick skin, and know how to shirk responsibility will be extremely happy working at this company.
2. The culture of the entire company is basically internal conflict and criticizing others. I have never seen many positive people or things at Universal.
3. Departments basically only give each other the cold shoulder. They never think about how to help other units so that the overall work can be better and more efficient.
4. The bonuses for meeting performance targets are also so small they are astonishing. Anyway, I do not believe that any colleague who sees figures like these will still have the desire to strive for performance...
5. The supervisors’ professionalism is questionable. If you have a problem, you can get an answer faster by asking the unit’s senior specialist than by asking the supervisor.
6. The head office’s decisions also often change from one day to the next, or new standards are added at the last minute. They often give people only half a day or one day to produce the requested materials... It is unbelievably ridiculous.
7. If, after reading this, you still want to join... all I can say is, take care of yourself.
As long as you know how to curry favor with your supervisors, choose the right side, and make your reports sound impressive, you do not have to do any actual work at all. It does not matter if you disappear for the entire day after clocking in and out.
There are too many drawbacks to count; the other comments describe real situations. This is essentially a company that is rotten from the inside out. Most of the time is spent on workplace infighting. Internally, there are many people with no relevant experience, people who know how to interview but not how to do the job, people rejected by other companies, and people who are very good at currying favor with supervisors and giving presentations in meetings. Naturally, the meetings they hold are completely meaningless. Sometimes meetings last all day without producing any decisions at all; all you hear is the various departments constantly shifting blame. They do not study how to solve problems—they only discuss whose problem it is. There is also endless overtime and 24-hour group chats with @ALL. The work environment is unbelievably awful, because as long as you push the work onto someone else, nothing happens to you. The people who suffer are the ones actually doing the work. That is why the turnover rate is probably the highest among all department stores in Taiwan. There are many other problems that I will not go into. If you still want to join this company after reading this far, all I can say is that you are incredibly stupid.

Currently referring to the Global Mall A19 branch.
I seriously think this is ridiculous. When you join, they tell you everything is perfect and great, but after you join, none of that is true!
You really have to read the contract and everything carefully. Otherwise, under the shift system, even working 7 days a month counts as a schedule.
Whether you are a part-time worker or a full-time employee, you must read the terms carefully! Don’t be deceived!
The merchants are the same! This has happened to me multiple times! Before moving in, they give you a good location, but after you move in, they relocate you to a place with no customers! The locations originally agreed upon are all given to major brands! It’s really terrible! You also keep getting messed around at work!
None at all…
Another really ridiculous company. Ms. Ku from HR has invited me to interview for the third time now.
The first two interviews were basically just going through the motions, and apparently they still can’t find a suitable person for this position: E-commerce Product Development Project Manager (Global Mall)… Or perhaps the current head of e-commerce is simply having the former general manager’s assistant take over.
I also want to say seriously that working in e-commerce and your liking to shop on e-commerce platforms… are completely different roles.
They scheduled an interview and required the interviewee to turn on their camera, yet the manager who was interviewing me didn’t turn on their video at all… That’s pretty absurd.
They lacked even basic e-commerce sense and asked me some inappropriate questions.
They didn’t even understand the basic gross margin structure of products, yet wanted to discuss providing services with me… Before talking about services, please at least get your systems, logistics warehouses, and so on in order.
Everything ships directly from the retail counters, and nothing is put into a warehouse—is this a joke?
I suspect they may not even know what third-party logistics or convenience-store pickup is.
Honestly… if these department stores want to get into e-commerce, please first learn from those with experience before talking about it.
Otherwise, even dogs and cats are doing e-commerce now, while all these department-store e-commerce operations are still clueless.
Given this situation… even after 10 years, it’ll probably still be the same… Seriously, stop trying to do things you’re not suited for and making a mess of everything.
The salary and benefits are considered quite good for a department store in southern Taiwan.
I’ve heard they’re pretty generous with year-end bonuses.
During the pandemic, they handed out rapid test kits every week.
There’s so much that it’s honestly impossible to list it all. There are too few people and too much work, so we often work until the middle of the night. Headquarters makes lots of demands, often very suddenly, while the direction is chaotic. It makes you feel that the role of a leader has not been fulfilled at all and that headquarters only creates additional problems for each branch. It’s a strange company with strange branches. The supervisors are useless and don’t understand or know how to do many things; all they know is how to order people below them to do the work. More importantly, they even expect subordinates to make decisions and conduct reviews themselves. Who takes responsibility when something goes wrong? Then, when mistakes are made, they criticize and investigate afterward. Even after all the counters have been removed, the supervisors are still doing perfectly fine. As long as they collect their high salaries and enjoy themselves, that’s all that matters. They don’t care whether their subordinates have too much work and need help, nor do they think about how to make the company better. The company simply never improves. One department had a whole group of people leave, and in the end, people in other departments were threatened with either providing support or leaving. Why not think about who caused these consequences?
In short, if you want to learn something, don’t come here. It’s not an easygoing place where you can coast until retirement either. The turnover rate is extremely high. If you want to experience what an absurd company is like, come on over!

The colleagues are fairly easy to get along with.
The benefits that should be provided are all there, and the salary is about average.
As others have also mentioned in posts on Tianyancha, they try to accomplish the most with the fewest people and then ask why things were not done well. Although I had not previously worked in the department-store industry, I asked colleagues who had worked at other department stores, and they all said this place really is the one where people most often work overtime until very late without overtime pay. In addition, everyone on a shift may have to work 12-hour shifts. Those who live far away or are unwilling to work such long hours should consider this carefully.
All branches across Taiwan have to follow the headquarters’ instructions, but headquarters often changes things back and forth, and there are also many last-minute, trivial tasks.
The tasks and direction are not necessarily suitable for every branch. At a branch with three major railway/metro systems, there are emotional managers, as well as managers who like to criticize subordinates behind their backs while failing to handle their own responsibilities. Honestly, it is simply over the top.

The service desk is really annoying, cursing at people without looking carefully first ;)
The building managers are all pretty good, easy to get along with, and willing to speak up to help.
The service desk at a certain mall accessible from the MRT is full of scheming! A man wanted to seize the position, drove many people away, and couldn’t stay there either. Things that didn’t happen are often made out to be true! Some people say the pressure there is often so great that they break down, making it impossible to work properly, while they are also being stabbed in the back every day.

Employees at the A8 store are required to support the A9 store. The same tasks have to be done once for A8 and then again for A9, even though the details differ between the two. Supervisors will not help raise these concerns because it would be pointless. It all goes toward the company’s net profit, while we are only required to get things done. There is no reward for doing so; it is simply considered part of your job. It only means meeting your KPI and has nothing to do with bonuses or year-end awards. We are expected to handle matters for two stores, but are only asked to be more accommodating. The workload will only continue to increase and will never decrease because the company has no budget to hire more people, let alone raise salaries. If you ask whether there are opportunities for promotion, the answer is definitely yes! However, those who get promoted are people with special connections to the management department—they get ahead through connections. Work ability and performance do not matter at all; they only care whether you are one of their people!
Global regulations prohibit office romances, but no one from managers to specialists follows them, let alone regular employees and part-time workers. The entire office is a complete mess, with such a high turnover rate and vacancies everywhere! There are serious management problems. Everyone can only hide the truth and dare not report it, and when something happens, supervisors suppress it as well. It is a terrible branch.

In the marketing department: If you have no personal ambitions (you’re not seeking more money, can go along with the madman’s temper, and can endure endlessly), you can stay for a very, very long time~~~
The associate director has a very bad temper, is emotional, likes to scold people arbitrarily, and enjoys overstepping the chain of command to direct lower-level employees. In the process, they drove away a whole bunch of subordinates. The manager directly under them has no backbone, but is very good at taking abuse, because doing more means making more mistakes, so it’s better not to do anything. As a result, the entire department is almost constantly mired in being berated and furious. Who would be happy working here?
It is said that at one point the entire planning team left all at once, leaving only the associate director and manager in the department. This kind of culture and system is really seriously problematic~
I want to review the fitness department.
Over the past six months, this department has replaced its manager and frontline staff, with more than 10 people leaving.
It hired someone named Chen Hsiang-yi as the manager,
but she does not know how to do anything and only engages in internal power struggles.
From the Banqiao branch making a profit of over NT$700,000 the year before last to a loss of over NT$3 million last year, the company still allows her to cause trouble everywhere.
It recruits a large number of unsuitable employees and then uses them to wage power struggles against managers. After the managers leave, it recruits new people to wage power struggles against the originally unsuitable employees.
This cycle continues repeatedly.
During interviews, she speaks very convincingly and promises you many things, but after you join, if she becomes unhappy, she will turn against you and deny everything.
In the sports industry, she has also been involved in a lawsuit with Uni-President Ishibun; it was also because she had previously caused another company to become chaotic and was sued.
She has now moved into the World Gym fitness department by relying on her relationship with the owner's son.
She is very articulate and very good at lying.
For details, please see the Banqiao World Gym Fitness Center
and the Zhonghe World Gym Fitness Center Facebook pages.
Many members and instructors have already requested refunds and left, one after another.
Please do not join the World Gym fitness department; it is currently unsuitable.
