After entering the workforce, conversations with friends kept revolving around work. Besides uncertainty about future career plans, we all felt frustrated by existing job-search tools. The hiring market often felt stuck in another era.
According to statistics, up to 90% of resignations happen because the role is not a fit. Most recruiting channels focus on what companies need, not what candidates truly care about, such as culture, management style, team dynamics, growth opportunities, and the real workplace experience. This creates a harmful loop: opaque job info, unclear reality, onboarding, mismatch, resignation, then the same opaque job info again.
In today's fast information flow, technology gives us a chance to make proactive change. If travel has Tripadvisor and restaurants have Yelp, why not a place where people can share real work experiences?
That led to Clairvoyance in 2016, a Google Chrome extension that lets you view company/job reviews and labor law violation records on major job boards. In February 2017, the qollie website launched so people could search, read, and post reviews for more than 700,000 companies in Taiwan.
We spend one-third of our lives, often more, at work. Choosing the wrong restaurant costs one meal. Choosing the wrong job can cost precious years of your life.
We want this platform to make sharing workplace experiences easy and practical, just like reviewing a restaurant.
Starting from workplace transparency, we discovered deeper issues across information, mindset, tools, technology, and market structure. In September 2016, we formed a team and committed more resources to a shared vision: a workplace revolution for our generation.
After deciding to build the team, the first question was: what should we call ourselves?
Our initial mission with Clairvoyance was to create a positive cycle in hiring by making job information more transparent. To carry that mission forward, qollie was born.
qollie = quantum + collie
A collie is a sheepdog known for intelligence, friendliness, and protective instinct. Workers are often put in vulnerable situations, and we want to stand with them. We are not chasing aggression; we are here to protect workers and their employment environment.
And quantum?
Quantum sounds cool, but more importantly it refers to an indivisible basic unit. We hope to gather workers into one strong collective force.
Together, qollie represents our hope to unite workers and defend a healthier employment environment through collective power.
