1 Some people really love thinking they know everything and have to meddle in everything. But please—not taking a few classes or hearing a few new buzzwords suddenly makes you a professional.

2 They say the world is changing rapidly, so it’s normal for goals to keep changing. But changing until the entire company has no direction? Fantastic.

Pros

If you want to experience what it’s like to wear a mask to work, come on over.

Cons

Seriously, don’t come.

1. The professional expertise is mismatched with the job levels.

2. Decisions are made recklessly.

3. Workloads are assigned arbitrarily.

4. Whenever you raise an issue, it feels as though it’s somehow your own problem.

5. They’re very good at psychological manipulation (PUA).

6. HR is extremely slick—old hands through and through.

7. They call themselves a group, but it’s impossible to see where the professionalism actually is.

8. No future, no room for growth, and the people you end up working with lack expertise.

9. Every project is just muddled through and dragged along.

10. Management specializes in taking on difficult projects, working the people below them to death.

11. The office is unbelievably depressing every day.

12. The equipment is terrible; even broken chairs aren’t replaced.

13. When something goes wrong with the toilet, they still shout around the office trying to find someone to blame.

14. Still unbelievably questionable~~

Seriously, don’t come to this company.

The managers always think they’re the best, and nothing we say makes any difference.

New hires are treated like little princesses, while veteran employees are treated like dirt,

And the internal back-office support is just incredibly weak—it’s beyond frustrating.

Pros

The colleagues are nice.

Cons

The managers are incompetent, constantly changing their decisions, and when things go poorly, they only blame the people below them. This has caused the company to operate almost aimlessly, like a headless fly frantically seeking any possible remedy—one moment targeting this area, the next targeting another. In the end, it has suffered defeat after defeat in advertising, social media, and design, yet senior management continues to pretend to be asleep, unwilling to admit that they themselves are the problem.

Employee travel, health checkups, and a refrigerator

Cons

It is said that overtime pay is not provided, and the manager of Department K will even block your application to take compensatory leave for overtime. No wonder people in their department have become careless and less conscientious in their work. The manager is unwilling to support employees in doing things well, silently encouraging everyone to “just do it casually anyway.” It can only be said that it is no wonder

that you K are unwilling to provide overtime pay or let people take compensatory leave. The end result is that employees cannot possibly devote more effort to handling things thoroughly and completely. When proposals fail to get through, the business team turns around and blames the department for being careless and not putting in effort, offering a bunch of excuses. But the root cause is the manager’s actions, which leave everyone both unwilling and unable to put in the effort.

They have consistently managed people haphazardly, so it is no wonder the capabilities of an important department in the company have never improved. They clearly come from a business background, yet they insist on teaching people how to write proposals and come up with ideas. The company needs someone who genuinely understands these things. Instead, they are often self-satisfied, while the team still has to cater to them and humor them like a child; otherwise, they become emotional again and block processes.

A company with the mindset of a Hakka Taiwanese businessman

Employees can apply for only one small pack of toilet paper per month (the square kind used in small restaurants). The benefits are truly awful compared with those offered elsewhere and are not worth mentioning. The laptops provided are also terrible and extremely slow, so many people bring their own laptops to work...

Although the company appears to have some scale, its internal systems are a complete mess. Nothing is clearly defined or regulated, resulting in many gray areas. Training for new hires basically consists only of an explanation of the company's history and how to submit forms. The turnover rate is extremely high, with someone resigning every few months. It feels like many deals within the company are closed through various forms of personal favors, while the people who suffer are the ones responsible for execution. The company's internal professionalism is questionable. The company also provides no resources or arrangements for employees to receive professional training, so the level of expertise among staff is truly inconsistent.

Every Monday, employees have to stand at attention and listen to the boss speak.

They also have to shout extremely cheesy, direct-sales-style motivational slogans. In practice, I have not felt that the boss values employees or has any intention of improving the company internally, let alone taking action.

The company constantly says that employees can raise problems, but you will realize that these are merely formalities, because even when real problems are brought up, they are not resolved. The company also promotes not complaining and may even consider you to be complaining when you raise these issues.

The company does not allow working from home, yet the office environment provided to employees is extremely basic. There is no coffee machine or afternoon tea, and the snacks are all health-oriented items that no one would want to eat.

Lately, I’ve really felt that there’s something strange about the entire company that’s hard to put into words.

It’s not explosively bad.

It’s more like a chronic state of chaos where so many problems are plainly right in front of everyone,

yet no one ever deals with them.

The most obvious example is the restructuring.

By now, it’s hard to tell whether we’re optimizing the company or tearing the house apart.

The structure changes every day,

and standard procedures keep changing too.

Every time, it’s called an “adjustment,”

but there’s absolutely no sense of direction—

only a whole bunch of new problems.

And the logic behind each restructuring is incredibly thin.

It’s impossible to tell what kind of professional judgment it’s based on.

It feels more like someone suddenly dreamed up an idea and pushed it through immediately.

As a result, the execution process becomes more and more fragmented,

and the whole team feels like it’s searching for an exit in a maze.

The management-level disconnect is actually where the problems are easiest to see.

Upper management gives directions quickly, emphatically, and with complete certainty,

but the content is often a world away from the actual situation.

Middle management can only grit its teeth and pass those directions down.

A lot of the time, they know the instructions won’t work on the ground,

but they can’t say so,

so they can only leave the people below to figure things out for themselves.

Over time, the entire management chain starts to feel strange.

Whatever is said at the top has to be treated as fact.

Middle management is reduced to the role of a messenger.

The people below are exhausted,

while the places that genuinely need adjustment never get adjusted.

They just keep dealing with instructions that are “theoretically feasible, but disastrous in practice.”

More and more people have been leaving recently.

It’s not happening all at once.

It’s the kind of slow, quiet process where one person leaves after another.

It looks like no one is saying much,

but the reasons are actually much the same.

It’s not that they can’t do the work;

it’s that the environment makes them feel increasingly powerless the longer they do it.

What leaves people most numb and emotionally exhausted

isn’t the work itself.

It’s the illogical changes, the directions lacking professional support,

and the fact that everyone clearly knows where the problems are,

yet the situation can never actually be corrected.

After a while, you realize

it’s not that people aren’t trying hard.

It’s that they don’t know where to put their effort.

The direction changes every day,

judgments shift every day,

and everyone is trying to save themselves on their own,

but no one can truly pull the whole situation back on track.

This feeling of constantly taking the long way around

is what really wears everyone down.

Put simply,

the problem didn’t suddenly appear.

It has always been there.

It just accumulated bit by bit until people started leaving.

This group is basically just coasting along, doing nothing but getting paid. Everyone in design and production is slacking off, with a civil-servant mentality. They lack experience and do not even try to learn. The things they produce are so bad that clients treat them like trash and complain about them. They cannot even explain the most basic design concepts. When asked why they did something a certain way, they just stammer and evade the question. They are basically messing around blindly, which is a complete waste of time. It is even worse when they encounter genuinely demanding clients—their score would be a complete zero. And then there is a company whose design work is this terrible. Could they please learn from the other departments and be more flexible and proactive?

Pros

1. Substitute workdays are not made up.

2. You can often take photos with the boss, because every time there is a quarterly bonus or something like that, everyone has to take a group photo with the boss. There is a high chance you’ll see it on the company’s official website or Facebook. It probably isn’t propaganda—surely it’s because the boss loves everyone.

3. The company’s snacks don’t include potato chips, but there are lots of healthy options. They’re not afraid of you eating them; they’re only afraid you won’t dare to.

4. People are rarely fired, so even if you do a terrible job, you’ll still be there.

5. Sincere

Cons

1. If you’re in sales, there’s a good chance that when you execute media projects, you’ll have to give away 70% of the sales credit.

It was originally said to be because some salespeople were relatively inexperienced, and executing media projects would take up their time, so it would be better for the team leader to execute the media project while the salesperson received an equal 30% share.

But in the end, the team leader will tell you to do it yourself, and you’ll still have to give away 70% of the sales credit.

2. When there is no legal staff, it takes a long time for a contract to be reviewed, which can delay your clients. But there’s nothing that can be done—the CFO also seems to come and go as they please. I don’t know whether they only have one job; I think they probably do, but they often have to deal with cockroaches and catch mice, so they may be relatively busy.

3. The CEO really seems not to know what they’re doing all day. Every Monday, they waste everyone’s time for a very long time.

4. The company has the bad practice of worshipping senior executives.

5. If you’re an internal staff member, many salespeople often make unreasonable demands and take advantage of you. Especially if you join the community department, working overtime is the norm—you often have to work until 8, 9, or 10 p.m. It’s frightening.

6. People are rarely fired, so even those who do a terrible job will still be there.

Pros

The company gives out NT$500 red envelopes during the three major traditional festivals. The boss is a Christian, so there’s no need to make offerings during Ghost Month. There are company trips (but no leave is provided for them—you have to use your own leave), and the atmosphere is cheerful. It feels like a place where you could stay until retirement, and there are lots of beautiful women.

Cons

The boss is busy becoming an influencer and writing books, but seems to be a sincere person who works hard at building the business. After all, the boss doesn’t need to make personal appearances. The CEO is constantly making astonishingly unprofessional remarks at the company, and every time, you can see the stunned expressions on everyone else’s faces. She’s relatively lacking in common sense—she only has her good looks—and you also often hear her berating other advertising companies at company-wide meetings. It always feels like there’s something fishy going on.

There are many young people in the company, most of whom have little experience. The mid- and senior-level managers don’t really mentor people, so there isn’t much to learn. It’s not recommended to stay too long, or you’ll end up like them: unprofessional in every way, yet extremely self-important.

The elevator is very slow, the security guard downstairs is aggressive, and there are lots of ghost stories.

This year, flexible holidays do not require make-up work.

Employees receive subsidies for overseas travel based on the expiration date, but you have to use your own annual leave to go.

Flexible start time between 9:00 and 10:00, but you can never leave work on time.

Cons

If you are applying for a sales position, you will have a great time, but the company does not care about other departments. You cannot point out what is wrong with the sales department because they will not listen or change. When you make suggestions to the company, they either brush them off with evasive responses or superficially agree to improve, but it is all just talk.

The company treats employees very differently. The boss’s favorites can get away with anything, while nothing is acceptable for everyone else; the same matters are handled under a double standard.

The interactions between the boss and the favored employees are good, and their cheerfulness feels extremely fake.

Most employees are sycophantic, and not joining in makes you stand out awkwardly.

The management is always bluffing and uses pleasant words to sugarcoat everything; what they say does not match what they do.

The CEO seems not to know what they are doing all day.

Whenever the company holds events, gives out bonuses, arranges trips, or offers classes, everything has to be photographed. It feels as though taking photos is the main objective.

Internally, they constantly promote how strong and impressive the company is. You only realize they were just hyping themselves up after you leave.

The management is very stingy and only especially generous toward the favored employees.

Pros

It is a company with organizational divisions and teams.

Cons

1. The HR representative I encountered was not very flexible—more like a mouthpiece who did not think things through, had poor communication and coordination skills, blindly followed orders, and even conveyed messages incorrectly.

2. After calling the Legal Aid Foundation regarding the contract, I received the advice that it would be better not to join. Based on past experience, more unreasonable issues may emerge after joining under this kind of contract. We are all literate adults, but I am not sure whether each applicant’s position matches the contract they received. The one I received did not quite match. Remember to read your own contract very carefully.

3. During the interview, they may tell you that all the benefits listed on 104 are real and that everything will follow what is stated on 104, making you think, “Wow, the benefits are great.” However, if certain resources that are essential for some basic positions are not listed on 104, confirmation revealed that they deliberately intend to shift the costs onto job seekers, with no room for discussion. Basically, it means you really will not receive them~

4. Simply put, although the operator runs a business related to intellectual property, they do not have much understanding of the rule of law and have relatively weak concepts regarding “employment,” “outsourcing,” and “intellectual property rights.”

5. The contract provided to successful applicants also shows that the company places limited importance on its employees and talent; presumably, its turnover rate is not low either. A company that frequently signs contracts with external partners cannot possibly fail to understand the importance of contracts, yet it blatantly asks future employees to sign an absurd contract that harms their own rights and interests. What exactly are they up to?

The air on the 21st floor is fresher

Otherwise, the office feels stifling and polluted.

Cons

In short, during the interview process,

the assertive HR representative will tell you

how unique the salary structure is—if you want to negotiate, forget it.

The seemingly enthusiastic department manager will let you know

that the job content takes the one-stop-shop concept to the extreme.

Please be prepared to become a highly cost-effective employee for the company,

with an extremely low base salary and responsibility for all kinds of miscellaneous tasks.

And I heard that the company’s internal hierarchy is rather serious.

It feels very unlike the culture you would expect in the lively marketing industry.

Please apply only if you can accept the systems of a traditional industry.

Oh, and the benefits are so average there’s hardly anything worth mentioning.
