Pros

Stable pay—but not a stable job. Be clear about that!

Cons

1. Benefits are reduced according to the manager’s mood. During the interview, they said meals were provided as a benefit, but on the third day of work they said that was no longer the case because no one else was receiving meals, so it was discontinued for the sake of fairness.

2. The company owner’s son runs the business however he wants. He can be late to work almost every day; sometimes he does not show up until two or three in the afternoon, says a few words, and then goes home to sleep. When he is in a bad mood, he can fire employees at will—after all, he is not the one paying the severance.

3. Among the company’s managers, apart from the regional sales manager in northern Taiwan, who worked his way up through his own efforts, many are either there because of connections or are simply good at currying favor. Very few truly have what it takes to be managers. Often, the managers with the toughest jobs are the capable ones—in other words, the stronger your abilities, the worse your work experience.

Pros

The salary is stable—not the job, so make sure you understand that!

Cons

1. Benefits are reduced depending on the supervisor’s mood. During the interview, they said meals were provided as a benefit, but on the third day of work they said it was no longer available because no one else was provided meals, so it was discontinued for the sake of fairness.

2. The company owner’s son runs the business however he pleases. He can be late to work almost every day, sometimes not showing up until two or three in the afternoon. After appearing, saying a few words, and then going home to sleep, he can casually fire employees whenever he is in a bad mood. After all, he is not the one paying the severance.

3. Apart from the northern-region sales manager, who worked his way up through his own efforts, many of the company’s other supervisors are either connected hires or shameless flatterers. There are very few who genuinely have the ability to be supervisors. Often, the most miserable supervisors are the capable ones—in other words, the more capable you are, the worse your work life becomes.

2. The company owner’s son runs things completely recklessly. He can be late to work almost every day, and sometimes does not show up until two or three in the afternoon. After appearing, saying a few words, and going home to sleep, he can casually fire employees whenever he is in a bad mood. After all, he is not the one paying the severance.

Stable pay—not a stable job. Make sure you understand the difference!

Cons

1. Benefits are reduced depending on the manager’s mood. During the interview, they said meals were provided as a benefit, but on the third day of work they said it was no longer available because nobody else was being provided meals, so it was removed for the sake of fairness.

2. The owner’s son is in charge of the company and runs everything chaotically. He can be late to work almost every day; sometimes he does not show up until two or three in the afternoon, says a few words, and then goes home to sleep. When he is in a bad mood, he can fire employees at will—after all, he is not paying the severance himself.

Very few genuinely capable people become managers. Often, the most miserable managers are the ones who are actually competent—in other words, the stronger your abilities, the worse your job becomes.
