Pros

1. The bonuses are genuinely pretty decent. After passing the evaluation, even a full-time entry-level store clerk who slacks off and coasts can still get NT$3,000–5,000.

2. Breaks are genuinely breaks—you can go out, or even go home, eat a meal, and then come back.

3. The displays at the several stores I’ve seen can only be described as hilarious. Unlike a certain competitor, where every shelf position and how everything is arranged is strictly prescribed, there’s a great deal of freedom to improvise. So... the displays are very casual, and the pressure of organizing the shelves is actually not that high.

4. The chairman visits stores all over Taiwan! And supposedly does so every year. That’s pretty remarkable. It means workplace bullying may exist, but it should be limited to some extent; otherwise, if a disgruntled employee preparing to leave gathered evidence and went over someone’s head to file a complaint, things would probably become very difficult to clean up.

Cons

1. Everyone is focused on workplace politics, then assumes that getting the politics right will lead to good performance. In my third month after joining, my individual sales were already the highest in the entire store. That’s right—it was that absurd, the kind of top sales performance that gives you no sense of accomplishment at all. Then I was ostracized. After that, the store manager actually helped the others berate me. I put up with it for half a year, then I decided to slack off. The funny thing is that the store manager has recently started worrying about performance, but I knew where the problem was six months ago and even tried to hint at it. Unfortunately, that store manager didn’t get it; they’re not the kind of person willing to humble themselves and discuss things with employees.

2. Uniform pay: people who coast earn about as much as those who work themselves to the bone to drive sales. Individual performance does count, but honestly, not for much; the main factor is the bonus. However, the bonus is divided among the entire store—in other words, even people who slack off can still receive quite a lot.

3. The mid- and senior-level managers at headquarters seem severely disconnected from the downstream stores. I once explicitly received instructions from a store manager to ignore or drag my feet on company orders if they harmed the store’s interests. And that order issued by headquarters really was the kind of ridiculous idea that could only have been thought up by someone who had clearly never worked in a store.

4. It doesn’t matter how many things you do right; one mistake can be magnified indefinitely. But the simplest way not to make mistakes is actually to drive customers away. With no customers, there are no opportunities to make mistakes. Combined with the advantages of slacking off, the result is continuously declining customer traffic and no returning customers.

Pros

The following are the pros and cons of the back office.

1. Welcomes fresh graduates; it is a good starting point for fresh graduates or people without experience.

2. Likes to cultivate well-rounded talent, so there are opportunities to face challenges in various fields.

3. Promotions are very fast in the early stages, and there is a monthly bonus, but no overtime pay.

4. Although there are many drawbacks (which may be the same in many places), fresh graduates can still give it a try and learn quickly.

Cons

1. Most colleagues are not very experienced, so many things have to be explored independently.

2. The allocation of responsibilities and authority is unclear, both horizontally and vertically.

3. Uniform pay: those who slack off continue to slack off, while those who work are exploited to the limit.

4. In fact, the base salary plus the bonus is the reasonable salary. It is indeed better than in other industries, but if you resign, half of the bonus for your final one or two months will be deducted.

5. There are many good managers, but there are also some extremely senior managers who cannot communicate rationally, do not respect expertise, and expect you to be proficient in everything, resulting in a constant loss of talent. Almost no one under them genuinely wants to contribute to the company; workplace politics is more common. However, if you start from the lowest level, you are less likely to face these impacts.

Pros

The salary is higher than that of ordinary retail store staff.

If you are proactive, being promoted within a year is not a problem.

The closer a store is to a hospital, the busier it is.

So if you are assigned to that kind of location, be mentally prepared.

Personally,

I really like this job, but unfortunately, the drawbacks below

make it impossible to stay.

Cons

A good store manager really makes it feel like a team.

Some managers do not teach, or need to improve their EQ,

and the turnover rate is especially noticeable.

Also, some stores hand over shifts in Line groups,

so you are practically always on call.

During the several years I worked there,

I never really felt like I was on vacation whenever I took time off.

I was on edge every day, worried that I might be tagged again,

or faced with a huge number of chat records in the group every day—something I really did not want to read.

Pros

This is a place that only cares about pursuing sales performance. Sure, without sales, how could they support their employees? But this is going way too far. When someone comes in with a scrape, they insist on having them buy hydrocolloid bandages, saying how effective they are. Do they not know that hydrocolloid bandages have appropriate situations for use? The non-medically trained regional supervisor and store manager are both like this, and they even tell you not to say anything recklessly. At the emergency department in our hospital, we would never teach patients with abrasions from injuries this way. They are truly poorly trained supervisors who only want to make money and do not think about others—it’s terrible.

This is a place that only talks about pursuing sales performance. Sure, without sales, how could employees be supported? But this is really excessive. Don’t they know that hydrocolloid dressings have their proper occasions for use? The district managers and store managers, who truly have no medical expertise, are all like this, and they even tell you not to speak out of turn. Pros

1. The employees are young, gentle, and polite.

2. Colleagues get along harmoniously, and the atmosphere is relaxed.

3. The shopping mall office area is small, so there is no pressure from having a large office or senior managers around.

4. The workplace is located in a shopping mall, making it convenient and easy to buy things nearby.

Cons

1. Employee turnover in the shopping mall department is very high; even relatively senior employees have less than a year of experience.

2. There is a rotating shift system every other week, including holiday shifts, so normally only one person is on duty (this is also related to difficulties in finding enough staff).

3. Staff are scarce and colleagues have limited experience. Senior managers cannot provide sufficient oversight and may be unable to handle everything, so some matters are not explained completely. As a result, less experienced colleagues are often unsure about the procedures and training progress when training newcomers.

*If the company wants employees to get up to speed quickly, it should take the training and education of new employees seriously rather than merely treating it as a formality. For example, training for head-office personnel is not held until more than two weeks after employees join.

4. The job involves a large volume of messages and emails. Every day, employees must submit a work log to report to the senior manager and give a work report at a daily meeting. Basically, the more senior manager is not present.

5. The salary range should be taken with a grain of salt; usually, the actual salary is the lowest figure listed. Only after passing all evaluations—which also takes more than a year and is intended to retain employees—is there a chance of getting close to the upper limit.

Pros

1. The benefits package is considered one of the better ones among pharmacies.

2. Flexible scheduling. It is said to be arranged according to nurses’ scheduling preferences, with morning shifts, 10 a.m. shifts, 11 a.m. shifts, and so on.

3. After approximately one month of training, you will be scheduled to work alone (working an evening or morning shift by yourself).

4. The environment is simple and bright. If you happen to have good coworkers or a good store manager, everyone will help one another.

Cons

1. Having a store manager who is not good at teaching can make the job feel like hell. There is a lot of administrative work, and if you have never used a POS system before, it will take some time to become proficient. However, they will only teach you once and will not allow you to make mistakes the next time. They also do not consider that this is completely new to a newcomer; you may only partially understand it the first time you hear it and need to be taught multiple times. In previous jobs, people would also repeatedly remind newcomers, but 杏一 is extremely poor at training new employees.

2. There is a great deal of administrative work, and it is very tedious. It basically takes six months of learning before you can truly understand everything you are doing. If the store manager is not good at teaching, it will take even longer to figure things out on your own. One coworker once had to work despite being unfamiliar with the 指寄 system (because it was only taught once), but failed to print the invoice and put it inside the product, and was berated by the store manager, who said that their intelligence was a problem.

3. The mental pressure can be very high. They like to make snide remarks about newcomers behind their backs, engage in personal attacks, and pass around baseless gossip to seriously hurt newcomers who work hard but have not yet become proficient.

4. Because you are a rookie, your schedule usually will not consist of the shifts you prefer. Staffing is generally very tight.

5. There is an assessment after three months. If the store manager only teaches each thing once, reviewing everything requires a great deal of effort.

6. I think it can be a kind of training for newcomers, but I really dislike how they describe themselves as a happy environment. They do not realize that they are the ones who love gossiping the most. The supervisors, including several coworkers around me, engage in infighting and scheming. It is truly difficult to encounter genuinely good people. If you are easily affected by other people, I suggest that you do not join. I had been working since I was 18, and this was the first place where I experienced bullying.

Pros

1. It depends on the store. Some stores allow you to leave work on time, but some really do make you work excessive overtime without hiring additional staff. Generally, the higher-level stores are busier.

2. There is comprehensive compliance with the Labor Standards Act. Although it is basic, after working at so many companies, An-Shin is the one that complies with the Labor Standards Act the most.

3. Working hours are fixed, usually a nine-hour shift with a one-hour break, but there are many start times—7, 8, 9, 10, and 11 a.m. This also depends on the individual. I think the flexibility is relatively high because employees can choose their schedules, and occasionally people with urgent matters can make adjustments.

4. There are many activities, and the annual planning is relatively clear. However, this also depends on the individual, because there are new initiatives every month, whether new activities, introductions, promotions, or products. The company keeps up with current trends, but some people may find it annoying because things change every month and all the DM information has to be memorized in detail.

5. Benefits for the three major holidays all increase with seniority, which is different from many other companies. However, most of the salary is fixed. Unless you are promoted, your earnings depend on how well your store performs. If you want to earn more, you have to work at a busier store.

6. There are many employee-purchase benefits, and the prices are lower than market prices. If you care for elderly family members at home, or have family members who are hospitalized or need health care, the products provided by An-Shin are genuinely very complete and comprehensive, covering almost everything needed for home care.

Cons

1. This is the only company where I experienced bullying. You have to please your supervisor. If you raise any opinion and the supervisor does not like what they hear, they will find strange little problems to target you with every day, such as criticizing you for not writing the characters on a document neatly or asking why you used so much tape on a poster. They use trivial matters like these to make trouble. I once saw a colleague get called in and scolded until they cried.

2. Promotion also depends on whether the supervisor likes you. If the supervisor does not like you but you want to be promoted, they will use every possible excuse to delay you, and may even prioritize training for people they like.

3. There are a considerable number of administrative chores, which can be extremely frustrating, especially during busy periods. If you get distracted handling them and do not finish them properly, you will have to work unlimited amounts of overtime.

4. There are many cliques. Because nearby stores may be connected, or because a hospital may have several counters, when there are many employees, people like to spread gossip. If you do not want to listen, others may still think you are not a team player, or even criticize you and make things up out of thin air.

Pros

Overall, there are basically none.

Can the only positive thing be called a “positive”?

During meetings, you often hear a surprising remark of the day (and can learn English vocabulary).

For example:

·“I’m surprised you didn’t revise the report.” (With so many miscellaneous tasks, when would we have had time to revise it?)

·“I find this extremely confusing.”

·“I think it’s very rough.”

And other classics like that.

Cons

1. Long working hours~

(They drain your mental and physical energy, and when you apply for overtime, they complain incessantly. You can only work as free labor.)

2. Absolutely no respect for employees~

(They publicly shame you in person, or directly gang up on you to make you feel even more embarrassed.)

3. No room for innovation

(They say they want to develop new clients or use new ways to do existing work, but the following week they immediately overturn the idea. They often tell you to do A but then make you do B, meaning you end up having worked for nothing. You’re also constantly bound by past experience and unable to break free.)

4. Stingy

(From the company’s perspective, the cheaper the better—that’s understandable. But after completing the work and submitting a quote, if it’s considered too expensive, the project becomes an unresolved case.)

Honestly, this is the most disrespectful company toward job applicants I have ever encountered. The interview lasted about half an hour. The interviewer, who claimed to have more than twenty years of extensive experience in human resources, said that applicants’ past work experience was completely unimportant to him. They cannot even handle the basics of employer branding and candidate experience—does that count as extensive experience? I am very skeptical.

Thanks to this interviewer, I will refuse to buy or use any of the company’s products.

Pros

Additional bonus after three months of employment

Cons

1. There are a large number of employees, so salaries can only be standardized across the board, which also makes them less competitive.

2. If you have a master's degree and a professional license, come here to coast until retirement. The position allowance is quite generous (as with most companies, it does not matter if you cannot do the work; as long as you are sufficiently obsequious toward your supervisors, you can securely remain in a managerial position).

3. Capable employees will have every ounce of their value squeezed out of them, but when it comes time to apply for promotion, supervisors will block them with all sorts of excuses. If you have an ordinary educational background, this is definitely a dead-end job.

4. There are many stores, so there is an overwhelming amount of work to handle. In addition, large companies have highly specialized divisions of labor. Besides working in a high-pressure environment, you also have to manage interpersonal relationships. As far as I know, there is not a single department that does not require overtime (and as for overtime pay...). Salaries are far below the going rate in Linkou, sitting around the Taoyuan average.

In summary, my personal recommendation is:

If you like high-pressure environments and want to train yourself to handle multiple tasks at the same time, and you want to explore your own potential at work, you are welcome to join and explore yourself here; this place will let you fully demonstrate your abilities.

If you already have a realistic understanding of your own abilities, then you will always have better options elsewhere.

Pros

The position applied for was in the Commercial Operations Department. The best part of the experience was that my education and work experience on my résumé appeared to have been carefully reviewed. When they contacted me by phone, they proactively introduced the job responsibilities. There was a brief phone interview beforehand. In total, three different people from the company spoke with me by phone due to communication and coordination, and all three calls were quite friendly. All three were women.

Before the interview, I had to complete a written test consisting of simple Chinese, mathematics, and physics questions, mainly testing logic. There were three interviewers, all men. It was a group interview: including me, three candidates were interviewed together, all of whom had graduated within the past few years. I personally found the interview atmosphere relaxed. The main person asking questions was the highest-ranking of the three. Overall, the interviewers were friendly toward the candidates.

The starting salary for university graduates is fixed at around NT$30,000, with an additional monthly bonus. The bonus is reduced during the first three months of training, though they did not say by how much. Master's graduates receive an additional starting-salary allowance, but they did not say how much. I was told that starting from the fourth month, the salary plus the full bonus would be around NT$35,000, but the bonus is paid based on operating conditions, so it fluctuates.

Cons

When explaining the job responsibilities, the interviewer directly said that the department operates as an end-to-end operation. When there is deadline pressure, employees may need to work overtime, but it is unknown whether there will always be deadline pressure. During the entire process, I received one company phone call and two company emails after the company's stated working hours; everyone can take that as a reference.

I am only sharing my interview experience; I did not go on to work there, so I do not know the actual working conditions.

Helping meet patients’ needs

Cons

The computers often malfunction, and the staff ignore newcomers’ opinions. When receiving instructions, the two supervisors often give conflicting requirements, and in the end they shift the consequences onto the newcomer. After work or on days off, the store manager often requires employees to reply to messages (Line); failing to reply may result in online bullying. Overtime is often required (without overtime pay). From Monday to Friday afternoons, employees must deposit the day’s revenue at the bank, riding their own motorcycle, with no reimbursement for fuel. If the store is out of stock and needs to obtain items from another store, employees must ride their own motorcycle to pick them up, again without fuel reimbursement. Many store managers and employees simply do not know how to train others. Tasks generally need to be taught to new employees several times before they gradually learn, but they only explain them once or twice and then leave you to fend for yourself. When mistakes are made, they shift all the blame onto the newcomer.

Pros

The interview process was extensive, giving the impression that the company is very serious about finding talent.

Cons

1. Because the company is seriously short-staffed, at 杏一, people with hard-to-find licenses will be "signed on". They will tell you that the conditions offered by the company are already really good, while the person handling the negotiations may casually make verbal promises or give uncertain answers (that's right—they're also just a pawn).

2. The contract provided after being hired did not match the terms verbally agreed upon at the beginning. When questions were raised, they were all dismissed or brushed off (the reason was always: "This is the policy for all employees!"). Then they pressured people to sign by imposing a deadline of only two or three days, leaving no way out and no time to look for a second job.

3. There is a signing bonus when you sign the contract! Excited? It's fake 😂 It is deducted from the salary you are supposed to receive in the future! What does that mean? For example, the company may proudly list a salary on 104, but you only find out later that it already includes the signing bonus! And what's more, the (fake) signing bonus that the company generously gives you also requires you to "sign! A! Promissory! Note!" It may be hard to understand when written out like this, but you didn't misread it—it is a "promissory note." Supposedly, this is because they are worried that someone who signs the contract will resign midway and fail to repay the fake signing bonus provided in advance...

4. Is the exploitation over? Not yet! If you cannot remain employed until the contract ends, this fake signing bonus must be "repaid in full." That's right: suppose you grit your teeth and sign, then work hard for 10 months in a contracted position with an "increased workload," but apply to resign because you have other plans. I'm sorry, but the salary you received will be lower than that of colleagues in the "same position without a contract"! Don't forget that the signing bonus is actually a deposit~

5. If you really decide, "I'm done with this," resign, and change career paths, what? You have to give three months' written notice... Then how am I supposed to know whether the company will make deductions from my salary here and there during those three months? That's right, the contract is basically not based on the Labor Standards Act, but on 杏一's self-invented Labor "Aggravation" Act 😤

Phew! For those with a "license" who are considering applying, take this as a reference.

《A little speculation》

【Don't be afraid; I am merely a wandering swordsman~】

[[Aside]]

If today we were employed by a company whose owner was willing to affirm employees' contributions through concrete actions, then even without a contract or many regulations, I believe employees would be very willing to strive alongside the owner all the way. The problem is that 杏一 is not like that. Not only are many chain businesses stingy toward their employees, they even treat people as if they were thieves and guard against them as if they were thieves. Workers' rights are exploited whenever possible. We are already relatively disadvantaged in terms of international conditions; if we continue running and managing businesses with this attitude, while employees continue to get by with an attitude of indifference, everyone, our country's competitiveness will only continue to decline. In time, after being completely marginalized internationally, we will never be able to recover.

For large corporations, if you disregard the corporate responsibilities and sense of mission you should fulfill, and merely keep counting the pennies in your pockets, then when one day everything collapses, just hope that the employees you normally treated as expendable will help keep you afloat.

Pros

1. For fresh graduates, if you don’t have a better option, it’s not bad to go in and spend one or two years there. Personally, I think it’s a pretty good stepping stone, because the company is always understaffed, so the breadth of work you get exposed to is substantial.

2. Besides the breadth of work, since it’s related to the healthcare system, you’ll learn quite a bit about health education. It’s also pretty good just to take it in as general knowledge.

3. The workload is huge, so be mentally prepared—it’s insanely, unbelievably busy! Unless you plan to slack off the whole way. But honestly, if you want to slack off, don’t come to M、すル浪費青春,不值得(認真)

4. Since it’s a stepping stone, it’s important to treat yourself like a sponge and set learning goals. Otherwise, it won’t help you move upward after you leave.

Cons

1. The promotion channel may look open, but in reality it’s very opaque. (Ability isn’t the key point; if you have direct access to upper management, you can still get promoted even if you lack the ability.)

2. They want the horse to be good while also refusing to let it eat grass. If they haven’t squeezed out every last bit of value from you, then it’s not M、すル.

3. In supervisors’ eyes, employees who resign will absolutely have no promising future. But the truth is, only after leaving do you realize what it means to be a frog in a well.

4. At headquarters, if you don’t have a professional allowance (for healthcare-related professional qualifications) and your educational background is slightly worse than others’ (master’s > bachelor’s > junior college), you’ll discover that the pay conditions suffer from an extremely serious problem: equal work for unequal pay.

5. I’ve heard that my position is supposedly worth an annual salary of one million, but my tax withholding statements have never reached one million.

6. I’ve heard the company always thought I wouldn’t be able to find a good job after resigning. In fact, my new job has given me:

(1) A genuine two-day weekend (at M、すル, don’t even dream of having a genuine two-day weekend). Quality of life is priceless!!

(2) Regular working hours from 9:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. (At M、すル, the earliest I ever got off work was 8:30 p.m.; my clock-out time was regularly between 9:30 and 10:30 p.m.)

(3) The ability to receive overtime pay (I never received any at M、すル!! Do you know that? Even if the company implements it properly, converting it into bonus money is still a huge loss for you. Overtime pay is tax-exempt, while bonus money is subject to supplementary health insurance premiums and can also push you into a higher income-tax bracket.)

(4) Of course, compared with other small companies, the company’s pay isn’t bad! But as the supposed leader in healthcare distribution, it always compares itself only with bottom-tier, non-enterprise companies—isn’t that embarrassing? It should compare itself with the top 500 enterprises to be fair! Come on, do better, okay?

(5) Excluding overtime pay, I already earn an annual salary of one million at my current job—something I never received in my more than six years at M、すル. My work is still an administrative support role; I didn’t switch to sales! An annual salary of one million is absolutely not due to sales performance allowances, okay? Muah~

7. In short, leaving M、すル opens up a whole new world!

8. As someone from the 1980s generation, I’m definitely not a strawberry!

If you happen to work with a store manager or colleague who is genuinely professionally trained, you can really learn quite a lot of professional knowledge. Looking at that store, some store managers are very selfish and self-serving and don’t have much ability; they just happen to be better suited to being supervisors. Other store managers are genuinely empathetic toward their colleagues. If you encounter a capable store manager, you can learn many sales techniques, and they will also teach you how to improve, which can enhance your sales skills. If you encounter a less capable store manager, they will only tell you to go home and look up the information yourself. It sounds nice to say they are cultivating your ability to be proactive, but in reality, they simply don’t know themselves and don’t dare say so.

Cons

Don’t expect to leave work on time, and don’t expect to apply for overtime.

Once the company’s working hours have passed, you can no longer clock out. If you ask your supervisor to enter the record manually, they won’t record the actual time you left. This should be illegal.

There are staff shortages everywhere, and people don’t stay for long. Benefits have deteriorated since the company went public, and many long-term employees have also left.

It is now very easy to become a store manager after joining the company. Once you have been a full-time employee for more than six months, you will almost certainly have the opportunity, because you may be the most senior full-time employee at that store.

Don’t assume the salary here is high. If you evaluate it based on the work involved and the physical and mental exhaustion, the pay here is very, very poor. Also, don’t expect there to be a time when you receive a raise.

Pros

You can learn a lot at this company

Personnel management, inventory management, customer management, and so on

Including organizing events

Cons

However, quite a lot of this has to be done in your personal time

Unpaid overtime has become the norm

Not having a normal time to eat has also become the norm

They often ask you to hold activities in the community, and still say it is personal time

The staff keep changing and changing—if a part-time worker lasts a year, you should be thankful

Store manager positions and full-time staff are constantly being replaced with new hires or having to support other locations

A company that puts customers first leaves store employees caught in the middle, unable to please either side

This is a company where you trade your health for money

If you want to learn management, come here

There will soon be an opening for a store manager

There are a lot of vacancies right now~

Salary is determined based on educational qualifications, and work experience is completely useless…

The salary structure consists of a low base salary + professional allowance + meal allowance, etc.… The total salary is relatively low.

Bonuses are paid in February, May, August, and November.

One month’s worth of year-end bonus.

Pros

Turnover is far too high

Stores are constantly understaffed, understaffed, understaffed

Supervisors assign staff based on the stores they personally favor

Stores that aren’t favored should prepare to work overtime until they drop dead!!
