Pros

Because it was a video interview, some things were difficult to discuss, but the interview went fairly well at first; it gradually went off track later on.

Cons

The interview seemed to be scheduled very suddenly, as if the supervisor had unexpectedly become available and arranged it on short notice. There were no particular problems at the beginning, but later they started asking a whole series of questions that felt like a background investigation. Two people kept questioning me intensely one after another, making me feel as though neither of them had reviewed my résumé before inviting me to the interview. Eventually, when I asked about the job duties myself, they said that all of this was already written on the employment website. My thought at the time was: my résumé also includes my work experience and personal statement, yet you still kept asking me the same questions over and over.

It felt as though both the HR representative and the supervisor were fairly unprofessional. Judging from the job duties, this was clearly a machine operation position, yet they insisted on telling me that even machine operation requires a foundation in graphic design. I could not understand what they were getting at.

Later, they also asked what I would do if I joined the company and found that there was no one available to hand over the work to me. I asked in return why there would be no one available for a handover, but they could not explain. It is difficult to accept a company whose supervisor and HR conduct interviews with people in this way. It felt very unprofessional and somewhat as though they were inviting people to interviews indiscriminately.

Cons

At the beginning of the interview, two female HR representatives first explained the company’s benefits and regulations. Later, when I asked about the work involved in publication design, they did not know the answers to any of my questions and had no understanding of it at all. They did not even know how to turn on the air conditioning in the interview room, so I waited inside for another design manager and nearly suffocated. After waiting for quite a while, the manager arrived, but his explanation was also fairly vague. Later, the two HR representatives and one design manager left, saying they needed to contact the assistant to the executive and asked me to wait a little longer. The interview had been scheduled several days in advance, but on the day itself, it felt as though no one at the company took it seriously. In the end, they notified me that the assistant to the executive would not be coming to interview me, and the interview ended. The design position at this company is based on a responsibility system, with no overtime pay. There is only a NT$60 meal allowance for working through a meal break (lunch boxes now cost over NT$100—what can you eat for NT$60?). The year-end bonus is fixed at one month’s salary and will not change. There are bonuses for the three major holidays and a birthday cash gift, but they did not say how much. It feels like a very traditional and closed-off industry.

Pros

New company building, bright and clean office environment, and reasonably convenient transportation between Beimen and Zhongshan stations.

The interview was conducted with Assistant Chen, who was relatively young and made the interview different from traditional interviews. Most of the conversation focused on discussing past experience and future career development, making it feel more like chatting with a friend.

During the process, they also gave me a lot of career-related advice. However, I ultimately did not choose the company because I had other career plans.

Cons

After looking at the previous reviews, I realized that it really is a family business. The company’s senior executives are all family members... However, since I have not worked there internally, I will not comment further.

Pros

Former employees: They boldly set the glorious record of firing three salespeople on the same day, or employees quickly flee on their own.

New employees: The company’s “great reputation” precedes it, making it difficult to find new hires.

→ As a result, there are more and more empty spaces in the office, so the seats are relatively spacious.

Cons

The seemingly harmonious relationships among colleagues actually conceal “verbal workplace bullying.”

This company’s standards for judging right and wrong are based on seniority and position.

The boss’s wife has an extremely high opinion of herself.

If you work here, you will definitely go from never rolling your eyes to naturally and involuntarily learning to roll your eyes all the way to the back of your head.

The boss’s wife is exceptionally skilled at reverse tactics.

When dealing with customers who like to negotiate prices, she requires sales staff to add 2% to the price after first raising it.

Once the customer stops making inquiries, she keeps pressuring the sales staff to follow up and close the order.

While following up, she also requires them to remind customers: “We’re going to raise our prices again soon.....”

(A classic case of.... refusing to give up until seeing the coffin....)

There are already surveillance cameras everywhere in the office, yet she has even deployed “several” “informants (snitches).”

One of the duties of the boss’s wife’s assistant is to report any activity or disturbance in the office to her.

Even seemingly ordinary interactions between colleagues quickly become known to her.

The boss (general manager) is the same. One of the boss’s assistant’s catchphrases is: “I’ll report it to the general manager first.”

The boss’s wife cultivated several informants, yet completely fails to protect confidential sources.

She privately goes around saying: “Who said what about whom.”

If you want to ask who badmouthed you, the boss’s wife will even say:

“Then you can ask the colleague who said it to go to the conference room together and clear things up face-to-face.”

All the badmouthing supposedly comes from colleagues and has absolutely nothing to do with her.

Then she always shamelessly declares: “I am a manager who takes responsibility.”

Unable to control her own mouth, after gossiping with you about someone else’s private affairs, she instructs you: “Don’t tell anyone outside yet.”

But once you leave, you will discover....that most of your colleagues already know, and in all likelihood she was the one who told them.

Then she puts on an amnesiac act and says: “I didn’t say that.....It wasn’t me who said it.”

The boss’s wife’s classic quotes:

1. “If the company makes a profit, we will definitely share it with everyone.” (But she will smear and spread rumors about others through despicable means to avoid sharing profits with employees, treating everyone else like fools.)

2. “I will take good care of people who work hard at the company, but don’t take advantage of my kindness.” (So everyone else is the one bullying her?)

3. “I believe that Heaven is watching what people do.” (Yes, I believe that too: people do things, Heaven watches....let’s all wait and see.)

4. “From what I’ve heard from people I’ve interviewed, other companies require sales staff to grow their annual sales by over 20%, but our company won’t make that demand of sales staff.” (That’s right, our company won’t require sales staff to grow sales by over 20%; we only require them to grow by two to three times.)

Pros

The company building is new, and the environment is clean and bright.

Cons

The turnover rate is extremely high. Almost everyone there has to perform two jobs, yet the supervisors criticize everyone for being inefficient, slow, and unproductive! The year-end bonus is one month’s salary, but in practice, deductions are made based on annual performance and leave evaluations, which is dishonest. You can take a maximum of only ten days of annual leave per year; under other mandatory rules, you are not allowed to take leave and can only exchange it for money. Everyone who could leave from the Business, Marketing, and Design departments has left. The supervisors have poor management skills and lack the mindset to train and develop talent, and they are very good at speaking badly about employees behind their backs. Even after working here for three years, you may still be laid off. The layoff rate is so high that the Ministry of Labor calls to express concern about the company. Employees escape from this place.

Pros

Don't let the new office environment blind you.

Cons

A family business with no staffing plan that recruits arbitrarily and inexplicably lays off employees. “Layoffs have nothing to do with performance, only personal preference.”

(They recruit you this month, then lay you off next month under the pretext of business contraction—absolutely unbelievable! They waste other people's valuable time. Wasn't the business downturn something they should have known before recruiting people? This is nothing more than an unscrupulous company's excuse to cover up its own wrongdoing.)

The comments shared above by several former employees are spot-on and classic.

Young people, don't come here to waste your time.

(The boss's wife doesn't understand marketing, yet she manages marketing (lol).)

Experienced professionals especially shouldn't come; what the others who have worked here said makes it very clear.

Pros

Leaving work on time, but the boss’s wife will complain about you behind your back to others

Cons

1. Poor benefits: The promise made during the interview that your salary would be adjusted after three months was just an empty promise from the boss’s wife to deceive people. NT$150 is deducted every month as a welfare fund. The three seasonal festivals, the spring banquet, and employee dinners are, in reality, all paid for with money employees themselves contributed.

2. Performance bonuses: During the interview, they made empty promises about strongly encouraging employees to earn performance bonuses. In reality, the boss and the boss’s wife keep discussing the performance-reward system with the executive assistant and changing the conditions. It has now been changed so that the combined results from Q1 to Q4 must exceed those of the same period last year in order to receive a bonus.

3. High performance pressure: The annual target is 30% growth. Every week, employees must prepare presentations and attend performance-review meetings. How the meetings go depends on the boss’s mood. Long-serving sales employees whose performance declines that month and who happen to encounter the boss in a bad mood can easily be harshly mocked by the boss during the meeting, with insulting remarks such as saying they are worse than a 7-Eleven clerk or a supermarket checkout cashier.

4. You cannot work independently; everything must be reported to the boss for him to decide, yet the sales staff are held responsible for the results. If performance grows, it is attributed to the company’s strong brand; if it declines, it is the sales staff’s responsibility.

5. In this company, the sales staff who generate revenue for the company have an even lower status than administrative staff. Employees in any department can order the sales staff around.

6. The marketing department lacks independent design capabilities. It mainly buys stock images or likes to make minor changes to customers’ designs and claim that it developed the designs itself. It also requires employees to continually send promotional emails to all customers, including the customers whose designs were original.

7. The boss and the boss’s wife place great importance on the number of emails replied to each day. As a result, some sales employees put the cart before the horse, frantically increasing their email count by sending spam promotional emails and competing to rank first in the number of emails sent.

8. The boss’s wife keeps creating cumbersome, lengthy SOP procedures, so sales employees spend much of their time doing standardized clerical work.

Low pay, excessive overtime, an inadequately structured family-run business, and a general manager who has water on the brain. If you work here, you will definitely want to die, I swear. The turnover rate is extremely high—over 70% in some cases.

Pros

Punctual working hours (as soon as 6:00 arrives, almost everyone leaves within about 5–10 minutes)

Cons

1. Poor management system: Important matters are ignored, while a bunch of unimportant trivial matters are managed. Sales staff have to serve simultaneously as assistants, purchasers, and general errand-runners (that is, whenever management tells you to do something unrelated, you have to do it regardless of how big or small it is).

2. Lack of respect for professional expertise: Regardless of whether someone has little or extensive work experience, no one is allowed to have personal opinions; everything is decided by the boss (and the behind-the-scenes boss’s wife). Then, “old-timers” from other non-sales departments can come and “instruct” the sales team on its work processes (if you do not listen, you are considered rebellious). You will also be required to work according to a bunch of useless and cumbersome procedures (you absolutely cannot express opinions or make suggestions).

3. The factory has no quality assurance system: During the initial interview, they tell you there are almost no customer complaints (you think that since the products are simple, complaints should be unlikely anyway). After actually joining, however, you discover that the factory has no quality assurance personnel at all (and openly claims that this industry does not need ISO certification). As a result, outgoing product quality is inconsistent... When defective or flawed products are discovered, the only solution is to remake everything (I do not know whether this is because the profit margins are too high or because they have no concept of costs at all). Also, discussing anything, big or small, with production control is useless; everything requires asking the boss for instructions before a decision can be made.

4. Poor benefits: The so-called “three-festival bonuses” consist only of a few hundred dollars for each holiday plus one month of year-end bonus (regardless of business performance), along with performance bonuses that are very difficult to receive.

Conclusion: Basically, if you are considering working here and are capable and have your own opinions, it is recommended that you think it over carefully. If you are obedient and compliant and do not have many ideas of your own (which is suitable for someone looking to coast until retirement), you can give it a try. However, it is basically very difficult to learn anything or gain experience here (because everything is decided by management; even when the way of handling something is terrible, you can only follow it, and when problems arise, you still have to clean up the mess yourself).

The employee turnover rate is extremely high. Apart from a few long-serving veterans, everyone else’s tenure is measured in months. The company also seems unconcerned that unstable staffing creates operational difficulties: it hires a bunch of people, then dismisses the ones it does not like.
