國高紙品股份有限公司
Pros

Punctual working hours (as soon as 6:00 arrives, almost everyone leaves within about 5–10 minutes)

Cons

1. Poor management system: Important matters are ignored, while a bunch of unimportant trivial matters are managed. Sales staff have to serve simultaneously as assistants, purchasers, and general errand-runners (that is, whenever management tells you to do something unrelated, you have to do it regardless of how big or small it is).

2. Lack of respect for professional expertise: Regardless of whether someone has little or extensive work experience, no one is allowed to have personal opinions; everything is decided by the boss (and the behind-the-scenes boss’s wife). Then, “old-timers” from other non-sales departments can come and “instruct” the sales team on its work processes (if you do not listen, you are considered rebellious). You will also be required to work according to a bunch of useless and cumbersome procedures (you absolutely cannot express opinions or make suggestions).

3. The factory has no quality assurance system: During the initial interview, they tell you there are almost no customer complaints (you think that since the products are simple, complaints should be unlikely anyway). After actually joining, however, you discover that the factory has no quality assurance personnel at all (and openly claims that this industry does not need ISO certification). As a result, outgoing product quality is inconsistent... When defective or flawed products are discovered, the only solution is to remake everything (I do not know whether this is because the profit margins are too high or because they have no concept of costs at all). Also, discussing anything, big or small, with production control is useless; everything requires asking the boss for instructions before a decision can be made.

4. Poor benefits: The so-called “three-festival bonuses” consist only of a few hundred dollars for each holiday plus one month of year-end bonus (regardless of business performance), along with performance bonuses that are very difficult to receive.

Conclusion: Basically, if you are considering working here and are capable and have your own opinions, it is recommended that you think it over carefully. If you are obedient and compliant and do not have many ideas of your own (which is suitable for someone looking to coast until retirement), you can give it a try. However, it is basically very difficult to learn anything or gain experience here (because everything is decided by management; even when the way of handling something is terrible, you can only follow it, and when problems arise, you still have to clean up the mess yourself).

The employee turnover rate is extremely high. Apart from a few long-serving veterans, everyone else’s tenure is measured in months. The company also seems unconcerned that unstable staffing creates operational difficulties: it hires a bunch of people, then dismisses the ones it does not like.
