Pros

I actually got to experience being treated like a disposable pair of chopsticks—truly one of life’s great jokes.

Cons

Shrimp Intelligence = Xuanpin = Ruishi

1. They recruit talent under the name Shrimp Intelligence, then assign them to other subsidiaries under the name of the assigned entity. I don’t understand the purpose of this arrangement.

2. They constantly criticize employees for making no progress and having poor technical skills, yet cannot provide objective evidence or specific supporting data. Meanwhile, employees can provide concrete data showing how much they contributed to getting the project accepted. This company turns a blind eye to that and calls itself Ruishi—truly laughable.

3. A verbal agreement to come into the office once a month became a requirement to come in every week. Not only did they violate the agreement, they even used incorrect information to confuse employees about the situation. Trying to hire experts with peanuts is quite amusing.

4. Ms. V, who is responsible for salary calculations, can only say, “I don’t understand; I can’t follow up on progress.” Indeed, she seems not to understand anything, and even her basic core work is handled rather poorly. I recommend starting over from scratch.

5. Mr. V, who appears to be part of management (I really don’t know who this person is), is skilled at emotional manipulation and insulting people without using profanity. He is a self-important braggart. When dealing with him, you really shouldn’t take everything he says too seriously. I also recommend starting over from scratch.

6. They posted false salary information on recruitment platforms, and the salary structure itself is problematic. This is a company that really needs to engage in serious self-reflection.

To the internal employees of this company who have read this far: run! The management keeps shamelessly manipulating reviews because no one dares to be a whistleblower.

If you still have questions after reading this, please don’t mistakenly step into this quagmire. I only learned after being hired for a while that this company had so many negative reviews. Please think carefully before joining.

I have evidence supporting everything I have said. If you disagree, take it up with me.

1. Afternoon tea is genuinely provided: one drink worth $50, and you pay the difference if it costs more.

2. It’s very convenient to get here by MRT; it’s right outside Taipei 101 Station on the Red Line.

Cons

Only after joining did I realize that the previous comments and ratings were completely truthful and accurate. The company has an extremely high employee turnover rate, and there is no end to cleaning up messes. The boss is very proactive and likes to bid on projects, but very few projects are successfully completed by the deadline. They can barely afford to pay all the breach-of-contract penalties, so forget about receiving any bonuses. Overtime is the norm, and there is no overtime pay—only compensatory leave. Even while taking compensatory leave, the phone keeps ringing nonstop. Don’t even ask about the year-end bonus; I’ve never received any of the three holiday bonuses either (reportedly, only people in certain departments get them). If you’re still considering going for an interview, be sure to ask for clarification!

Hard... If you study, you can become a flight attendant.

Cons

If you have seen Tom Cruise's Oblivion, that is what my work situation here is like. Low pay and heavy responsibilities. I don't know whether jobs of a similar nature are paid this little. The manpower of technical laborers—for your reference.

Pros

A good company with good colleagues. The company has grown from 40 employees to more than 100, and everyone gets along well. To be honest, the malicious negative comments made by some former colleagues are unfair.

Those malicious criticisms come from viewing others from one’s own perspective, rather than looking at things fairly.

I asked him why he didn’t respond directly to these comments. He told me it wasn’t important because he wanted to make life better for all employees, so he didn’t have time to pay attention to those matters.

Some colleagues at the company needed to move back to southern Taiwan to take care of their families, and the boss said, “Then you can work remotely from home,” with no change to their salary. Some colleagues needed to take care of their children, and the boss also said it was fine to work from home. A company that accommodates its employees’ needs like this shouldn’t be spoken of in such a way.

I’ve been at Syuan Pin for more than two years. The boss is genuinely very nice and often checks in on everyone. He is very driven but also easygoing. Of the several companies I’ve worked for, this is the one with the most warmth.

Cons

Syuan Pin’s average starting salary is more than 20% higher than the industry average when compared among people of the same age. Anyone who wants to work here needs to hold themselves to high quality standards; otherwise, it is not easy to survive here.

Pros

I worked at Xuanpin for more than two years and only left recently when my husband changed jobs and we moved to Taichung with our child.

It is difficult for outsiders to understand Xuanpin because it does not cling to tradition, is full of creativity, and places great importance on emotions. Once, my kindergarten-aged son had the flu and a fever, so I needed to take three days off to stay home with him. But my family also needed my income. After thinking it over, I called my supervisor. My supervisor said that I could simply work from home; I did not need to take leave, and my salary would not be deducted. Taking care of my child was more important. Later, when I was preparing to return to work, the first thing I was asked in a phone call was whether my child was feeling better—not about my work. I think this is just one of the many, many things about Xuanpin that touched me.

If you are thinking about working there, quality is highly valued. That is one important point. Another point is the sincerity the company often talks about: say things directly when something comes up. This company culture is very empathetic.

Cons

You may gain weight—the Wednesday afternoon tea.

Guaranteed to get hired, because they’re short-staffed.

Cons

Even after your shift has ended, if you happen not to answer a call around eleven or twelve at night from the boss asking you to go on a sudden business trip, you’ll be harshly berated and told you’re irresponsible, along with all kinds of sarcastic remarks. The customer is always right—even if they ask you to wake up at five or six in the morning to deal with an urgent customer matter, that’s considered perfectly reasonable. They never stop to think about why so many employees leave every month. How many is “so many”?

Roughly, they hire one person and ten leave, one of whom is a newcomer who escapes shortly after joining.

Your salary is never paid on time. If you manage to receive reimbursement for expenses you advanced, consider yourself lucky, although you’ll probably have to wait more than three months. You have to provide your own laptop (otherwise they’ll tell you to buy one yourself first and submit a reimbursement claim, and then they absolutely will not give you that money). Finance will only fob you off by saying they forgot to make the transfer, but they can’t even close out their projects—their funds aren’t enough to pay the clients’ penalties.

Treat joining this company as doing a good deed; otherwise, even asking for the salary you’re owed requires you to speak humbly while being berated by Finance. Even if you’re lying in a hospital bed receiving an IV, coming into the office is apparently what you should do.^^

Cons

The internal management and control are unbelievably terrible. They maliciously withhold and fail to repay payments owed to all vendors, and also owe employees their wages. The number of employees dropped from 100 to fewer than 30, and people have gone to seek labor-management mediation. All the programmers have left, so no one can write the programs or close out projects. The work atmosphere is extremely poor, and the person in charge is very difficult to communicate with.

A notorious company!

Cons

I really don’t understand how desperate this company is for staff!

Through 104, they scheduled two interviews with me in a row, but neither time worked for me. I never agreed to attend an interview, nor did I ever receive a call from them, yet I ended up receiving a no-show notification from 104?! WTF!! There was never even an interview arranged, so how could I have been a no-show?! I’m speechless... No wonder it’s a notorious company. It was definitely the right decision not to go to the interview!

Cons

After walking around upstairs for quite a while, I finally found the office. I was very surprised to find that it was actually a classroom—the space was extremely small. The interview was conducted in the hallway outside, and there happened to be an exhibition going on, with a buzzing noise in my ears. Oh, and you need to bring your own computer.

Pros

If treating hardship as a virtue, it is like coming to an all-you-can-eat buffet.

Cons

If all those past reviews are true, then all I can say is that none of them were wrong—and there are even more outrageous things that have not been exposed.

First of all, the benefits are absolutely terrible. To put it bluntly, there is not a single benefit here that can be presented as an advantage. Pathetic!

It would be bad enough to have no overtime pay, but they also deduct 30 minutes when converting compensatory time. If dinner costs more than 100, you have to cover the difference yourself, and if a drink costs more than 50, you have to rush to claim the difference. It is utterly ridiculous. Of course, there has never been such a thing as a bonus either. And honestly, without tangible rewards like overtime pay and bonuses, what idiot would be willing to work that hard? You can work yourself to death and win a contract bid, yet the reward is still zero—the same as if you had not won it. Who would be willing to work hard?

Next is expense reimbursement for business trips. You have to pay the expenses upfront yourself, and then, even after completing the complicated paper-based application process, you still cannot get the money for three whole months. The greatest irony is that you may have to take a long-distance trip because of one casual remark from the boss or senior management, immediately abandoning the work at hand. Yet whether it is the calculation of hours for official leave or the clock-in system, everything is extremely complicated, and one small mistake can make it appear that you have insufficient attendance hours.

On top of that, this company's management is absolutely a disaster. No! I should say that management simply does not exist here. The boss does whatever they feel like doing, ignoring the work schedules already arranged by supervisors and randomly assigning tasks to you. Things are already inefficient enough, yet they create a two-headed command structure. Horizontal communication is also terrible: cross-departmental collaboration is always a crash waiting to happen. Work assignments are so chaotic that if someone you are working with suddenly resigns or takes leave, the people left behind have no idea what that person did on the project or how to take over. Then the company ends up breaching contracts and being fined. Does this really have nothing to do with the company's disastrous systems and policies?

The HR and finance departments have serious problems with emotional self-management. Even when you ask about an expense claim or a work-related issue, they can give you attitude, as if you owed them money.

The above is only some of my work experience. Please, if you are reading this, think carefully again about whether this is really a company you should join.

Pros

Close to Xinyi District, convenient for shopping

Cons

The following contains no false accusations or emotional statements,

but is purely a description of facts:

1. As of the end of February 2021, in a period of less than approximately four months, the company went from having more than 100 employees to just over 70, with a turnover rate of approximately 20%. The turnover rate at ordinary companies is usually no more than 15%. At this company, employees who have stayed for two years are extremely rare, excluding managers.

2. Before the Lunar New Year in February 2021, the overwhelming majority of employees at the company did not receive the year-end bonuses discussed during their interviews. They received only symbolic amounts ranging from 2,000 to 5,000. However, the benefits and compensation policies for most positions stated during interviews and on the job bank included “14 months of guaranteed salary.” As of February 28, there had been no official explanation.

3. To supplement the explanation in point 2 regarding the “14 months of guaranteed salary”: According to the pay slips, a certain number of employees’ “salary” consisted of the total of their “base salary” plus “bonuses under various names,” which raises suspicions of underreporting salaries despite high actual pay. Even so, the calculation of “base salary” should not include bonuses ranging from 2,000 to 5,000.

The above is provided as a reference for those of you currently applying to Shrimps/Xuanpin.

If you are a colleague who joined recently, please carefully consider whether you want to continue staying.

Coworkers around you who are a matter of luck

Cons

Let’s describe this using numbers and project timelines.

First, the number of employees plunged from around 100 to around 70 in just three months, and it is estimated that more people will continue to leave after the Lunar New Year. Think about it—we are currently in the post-pandemic period, spanning December 2020 to January 2021! How unhappy must the employees be to willingly leave without collecting their year-end bonuses? They must have suffered tremendous grievances.

Second, projects fell behind schedule and breached their contracts. To clarify, the project-win rate is relatively high and revenue is also quite substantial. But—and this is the fatal “but”—why can projects be allowed to fall so far behind schedule that they breach their contracts, and not just one project at that? Every disastrous project represents employees who have left. From what I have gathered indirectly, the project contacts lack sufficient professionalism, the BOSS has no sense of risk assessment, and middle managers cannot rein in the wild horse, resulting in everyone aiming in different directions. They are always firefighting and forever caught in the same cycle. The worst affected are newcomers who have just joined.

Third, the company’s systems and mindset are outdated. This is an information technology company specializing in APP and WEB projects, yet its benefits and clock-in procedures remain stuck in those of a traditional contract-manufacturing factory. Employees have to figure out what their superiors want and censor their own thoughts first. When traveling on business, you have to pay expenses upfront yourself, and reimbursements are delayed indefinitely. If you like a smaller “traditional manufacturing factory,” welcome to join as a sweatshop laborer.

Finally, the above is based on my indirect observations, because my position is far from both the center of the storm and the core of the actual money-making operations. The stories inside must be truly bloody. I hope this opening will encourage the actual people involved—and more of them—to come forward and expose what happened.

Thank you~ warriors covered in blood.

Pros

- Lunch boxes are provided when working overtime

- Sweet soup with tapioca pearls is available to drink

- Great location

- About 90% of the colleagues are pretty good (the remaining 10% depends on fate)

- The environment is spacious enough for you to stretch your limbs

- You can test the depth of your pockets. Reimbursements for business-trip expenses can be delayed for several months and still not arrive. Before you know it, the expense can exceed ten thousand dollars. If you are unwilling to pay upfront, upper management will enthusiastically check in on you. It is truly incredibly happy and warm.

Cons

When I initially decided to join this company, I had looked up information about it online. At first, I did not believe what people said online, but after joining, I believed it all. I originally thought there would be changes after a few years, but nothing has changed at all.

The BOSS's SENSE is often completely different from the client's. Every time, it is all about Feeling, being Cool, and having Style, while the client only wants something Normal. As a result, things are dragged back and forth until the delivery deadline, when the project is behind schedule and in breach of contract. Only then do they realize they need to hurry and bring in a bunch of firefighting teams to put out the fire. If the firefighting team cannot put it out, they berate the team.

During the process of working on projects, you will experience the limits of time compression. Something that would normally require three or four weeks of production time is expected from you within two or three days, while you may also be responsible for multiple similar projects that are all burning at the same time. Doesn't hearing all this make you feel that it is truly wonderful? You can measure your own ability to withstand pressure! Recommended for those who want to test their abilities, thrive under pressure, and do not want to rest.

The Wednesday afternoon tea drinks are great. Remember that you’ll need to pay the difference for anything over NT$50.

Cons

1. Underreporting of labor and health insurance wages

2. Overtime is forcibly converted into compensatory leave, with no overtime pay

3. Compensatory leave is granted at only a 1:1 rate, and overtime is still calculated by the hour, all to make things easier for HR to calculate and to accommodate the lousy clock-in system.

4. A bunch of projects can’t proceed smoothly, and management never seems to understand what’s going on.

Seeing my former boss so actively posting favorable reviews, I thought I’d help balance out this situation, which has been manipulated into a fifty-fifty split.

Cons

The company rents space in the Taipei World Trade Center Exhibition Hall, which is chaotic and crowded. The salary is relatively low, and it feels like the company likes to take advantage of its employees (applicants are expected to print their own résumés for interviews, and the company expects employees to use their personal vehicles for work purposes). The interview felt less like they were looking for talent and more like they were looking for manpower. Overall, it feels very much like a startup: small-scale and not a stable job where one can build a long-term career.

If you are hired after the interview, they will notify you very quickly. Because the company is always short-staffed.

Cons

First of all, it must be mentioned that Shami and Xuanpin are the same company.

The Wednesday afternoon tea is actually just ordering a NT$50 drink.

Because they have consistently been unable to hire enough people, the workload cannot be handled. The supervisor is also barely managing to keep up. When a new employee encounters difficulties and raises them, the response is that the supervisor is too busy to help and that the employee should solve them alone (?). I only found out later that the supervisor who trained me would work at the company on Saturdays and Sundays, and I also heard indirectly from others that he really was very busy.

Therefore, unless you already have extensive relevant work experience, do not come to this company lightly. However, if you already have a lot of experience, I would suggest checking the online reviews of Xuanpin and Shami first.

Looking at what others said about the boss three years ago and then looking at him now, I think he has at least one advantage: he has remained consistent over the years.

When I initially decided to join this company, I had actually looked into it and knew that its reputation was very poor. However, I felt determined to work hard and thought it should not matter where I went. But I have completely changed my mind now—the boss is exactly the same as in the reviews currently available online.

Finally, I would only suggest that people who receive a job offer think carefully again about whether they truly have no other choice.

The boss will keep making empty promises to keep you happy, such as saying they’ll make you a manager or open a company for you in the future.

Cons

They’re just looking for someone to put out fires, or to use your work or certifications when bidding for contracts. Once the fire is out or they win the contract, they’ll start making things difficult for you in every way to force you out. On average, people don’t stay for more than a year, so don’t waste your time. Your salary will be delayed when there’s a holiday, and they’ll even pressure you to take personal leave when you need time off.
