I arrived five minutes early for the interview as agreed. After the receptionist notified the company’s HR department, I was directed to a meeting room to wait.

However, I waited for more than 20 minutes, and the HR representative I was scheduled to interview with never showed up. After I asked the receptionist again, some passing colleagues kindly helped contact HR, but they said they could not reach that HR representative and that no one from the HR department was there.

Only after I left and sent a message informing the HR representative that I had canceled and left because I had waited too long did I receive a phone call from them.

What was even more outrageous was that the HR representative even mispronounced my surname and gave a very far-fetched explanation for being absent for more than 20 minutes: it was not because they were onboarding a new employee or because of a high turnover rate, but simply because the arrangements had not been properly coordinated.

You can tell a lot from the details. Based on this interview alone, I have never encountered a company more outrageous than this one.

Pros

1. Extra leave in addition to annual leave (can only be used after using up annual leave).

2. After passing the probationary period, there is a Happy Hour during which you can leave work early.

3. The flexible working hours range is quite broad.

Cons

The work atmosphere differs from department to department, so I will only discuss the environment and benefits.

1. Snacks usually disappear quickly after General Affairs restocks them, so do not expect them to be available at all times.

2. There is no WFH; WFH is only provided when a typhoon causes work and school closures to be announced.

3. Do not expect much in terms of salary increases or year-end bonuses.

The HR interviewer and manager like to investigate candidates’ backgrounds, obtain free industry intelligence, and silently reject candidates, wasting interviewees’ time. Please be very careful!

Cons

The manager is arrogant and self-righteous; colleagues have no sense of boundaries and act overly familiar; the company’s administrative efficiency is poor; senior management says one thing and does another. The environment is extremely stifling, so you can only find ways to make the best of a bad situation.

Run while you can—the place is chaotic, and you're constantly forced to take on more work.

It's also incredibly exhausting. If you can't finish, you can only take it home, and then you have to get up early again the next day⋯

The salary is just a base salary plus bonuses, but the bonuses are very difficult to earn⋯

Some managers and colleagues also really like prying into other people's privacy, and they act one way to your face and another behind your back⋯

Pros

Many benefits, including company trips and happy hours

Cons

When I went for the interview, it happened to be the company’s lunch break, and there was no one at the reception desk. I asked a female employee who happened to be passing by for directions, but she simply told me to call HR using the phone number provided in the interview email. She did not help notify HR or escort me to a meeting room or waiting area, leaving me standing in front of the reception desk. HR also did not answer when I called. If HR had not happened to pass by, would I have been left standing at the reception desk indefinitely? From a customer’s perspective, the company’s staff could improve their hospitality.

Pros

Pros

1. The refrigerator provides free drinks and snacks.

2. Flexible working hours; Happy Hour leave allows you to leave work early.

Cons

Cons

1. If you take the free drinks from the refrigerator and put them back in the refrigerator to drink later, your supervisor will say that you are taking up refrigerator space. However, you can buy lots of group-buying food and store it in the refrigerator, taking up even more space.

2. The company offers flexible working hours, but the supervisor still requires everyone to arrive at the office before 9:30, while it is impossible to leave work on time.

They claim to offer Happy Hour leave, but in practice you have to submit a leave request. The supervisor will not review the request and will even reject it.

3. There is no overtime pay and no dinner allowance for working late. The work is never-ending, and reporting overtime will only lead to the supervisor making things difficult for you.

4. The performance evaluation system is very unfair. It all depends on the supervisor’s mood, and they even change the interview process arbitrarily.

If you are singled out, you will not be able to get a raise no matter how hard you work, and your year-end bonus will also be cut.

5. The office environment is very poor. Some senior employees talk very loudly, chat extensively, and cut fruit at the office without doing any work, disturbing others.

Can gain exposure to digital advertising???

Cons

A lot of people are asking about the workplace atmosphere. Personally, I would describe it in four words: Taiwanese traditional industry.

Training:

There was some when I joined, but it was basically a matter of having experienced veterans show you the ropes. The company’s own training was more of an introduction.

If the veterans were unavailable and projects were not handed over, you were essentially left without anything to do. It seems more suitable for experienced people, especially AMs.

Management style:

There were lots of typically Taiwanese slogans and management without any proper systems, which led employees to compete for sales and engage in vicious infighting.

Well... in short, it was very much like a traditional Taiwanese company, not foreign-owned at all, even though the company has branches overseas.

The managers and boss did not oversee many things, and turnover among the staff was very high.

Salary: A basic salary, supplemented by bonuses, but the bonus percentage was very low. You had to handle many projects for your salary to increase.

At that point, time management and luck became very important. If the team you were in did not have major projects, it was difficult to make much money.

Industry environment: Saturated. It was difficult to develop new clients, so basically the focus was on working hard to maintain existing projects.

Workplace atmosphere: It depended heavily on luck. The styles varied greatly from team to team. Overall, it seemed quite oppressive to me. I would not describe it as an environment with good communication. Because of the competition for business, you could easily encounter managers or colleagues with unpleasant attitudes.

The indescribable hardship of working there: During my time there, I encountered some very unpleasant colleagues. Since I had little experience at the time, I went through quite a lot of hardship after joining. When I asked questions, I sometimes felt that the veterans would seize the opportunity to make things difficult for me. Relations between people were awkward, and during meetings hardly anyone spoke. It was extremely strange. Looking back, it really was a job that wasted a lot of time. Not only was the salary nothing special, it also seriously damaged my expectations of working in the digital industry. The manager only cared about making money but did not actually manage anything. Perhaps most Taiwanese companies are like this.

Conclusion: I do not recommend it. But if you want to try it, you can still give it a shot.

Pros

For the AE department:

1. The company culture is relaxed. As long as you get your work done, your supervisor and boss generally won’t interfere too much.

2. You can take taxis when visiting clients and submit the fares for reimbursement. Unlike some companies that cap reimbursements at NT$1,000 or require you to provide your own transportation, this makes AEs more willing to visit clients. Honestly, in this line of work, meeting many clients in person really does make a difference!

3. Everyone in the company, regardless of seniority, is provided with an Apple laptop.

4. Free drinks and snacks are available without limit.

5. Convenient transportation near Daan MRT Station.

6. The boss is a very nice person.

Cons

It is actually a good company, and there are quite a few talented people there! However, if you are a “newcomer” who seriously wants to develop a career in online marketing—with less than two years of relevant experience—I would not recommend applying here first. The company provides almost no comprehensive training for newcomers. There are generally only routine product update briefings; if you really want to learn, it depends on whether your supervisor and colleagues are willing to guide and teach you. Personally, I had a supervisor who had no interest in training newcomers and only wanted to focus on developing their own business. Even though I wanted to learn, there was no way to do so, so I ultimately chose to resign. In the industry, the training systems at WISER and iProspect are much more comprehensive! I recommend that newcomers start by learning at one of these two companies. After gaining practical experience and some industry connections, they can consider WISER. Their compensation and bonus system is indeed better than the industry average (although it also depends on your team and industry vertical)!

Also, if you work as an AE or AM, working hard and putting in overtime is inevitable. If you want to earn large bonuses but are unwilling to put in extra effort, you might as well change careers and do something else!

Pros

1. I had two interviews, and the HR representative handling them was the same person. All the submitted materials were kept in one folder, so the next interviewer did not waste time asking a bunch of repetitive questions.

2. Free drinks are available.

3. The manager explained the job responsibilities in great detail.

4. Flexible start and finish times, with convenient transportation.

Cons

1. There is no comprehensive training program.

2. Responses to interviewees’ emails are not prompt.

3. The offer package did not match the level of the position being offered; the salary was very low, with no additional allowances or subsidies.

4. The department’s situation was not explained clearly.

Pros

The company environment has a high-quality startup feel, with plenty of snacks and a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere.

Cons

There is little mutual support among employees, and the handover process is not welcoming to newcomers.

The management has somewhat deteriorated from a startup style into a typical Taiwanese management style.

There is a mild culture of working overtime, with no overtime pay.

There are factional struggles between departments within the company.

The culture also has a distinct character, and those who cannot fit in do not stay long.

I submitted my résumé and completed and sent the required pre-interview programming assignment to HR. Later, I wanted to move the interview date earlier, but HR only said they would check again. After nearly a week of follow-up, there was still no news. They showed the job candidate absolutely no respect.

If you expect a good workflow, sorry, there isn't one here. There are many industry agile-development gurus here who talk a good game about Agile but are unable to solve problems on projects. Other roles are treated as if they were worthless, making it very difficult to achieve results at work that you can take to your next company. Please think carefully.

I interviewed several times for the same position. Each time, I was rejected after the first interview, but I was never able to get hired or make it to a second interview.

It feels like their HR department interviews people just to pad their performance figures or gain experience in handling recruitment matters.

(Otherwise, why keep inviting someone who has failed the first interview so many times? <--- Does your manager know about this?)
