On 1/16, I interviewed for a CNC engineer position and made it clear during the interview that I did not have a background in part machining. After discussing the position for 1–2 hours, we agreed that I would start on 2/1. The job description said that 3D machining skills were required, but after I started, the machine’s condition was extremely poor: there were no lights inside the machine, meaning there was no illumination. On the second day, I was given a plate-part drawing file and a piece of iron twice the size specified in the drawing and was asked to make a prototype. I had to find all the cutting tools myself from old tools in the factory, and I had to leave the company by 17:30 at the latest. On the third day, I was told that my machining approach followed 3D machining logic, so I was not the talent the boss was looking for. In this way, they wasted nearly half a month of someone else’s time.

Year-end bonus: None—not even a red envelope.
Overtime: Holiday overtime is compensated by switching your workday to a weekday.
Turnover rate: High. Basically, the company cannot retain talent.
The newly hired senior managers are very calculating and will do everything they can to get employees disciplinary records, then ask you to sign an IOU to deduct money.
Two days off per week
A company with no future in sight; policies change on a whim. There was no year-end bonus during the Lunar New Year, and this year there wasn't even a red envelope. It can't retain talent.
....
107/7/10 (Tuesday)
The government announced at 16:00 that a typhoon day off would be granted... but all employees still had to work until 17:30 before they could leave.
Basically, overtime pay is provided (an overtime form must be submitted).... Colleagues are easy to get along with
Year-end bonus: NT$2,000–5,000. It stays the same even if you have worked there for 10 years (I heard that in 2019, employees will receive a year-end bonus)...... Because too many people are leaving
Turnover rate: The annual turnover frequency is approximately 16%—around 10 people leave each year
Pay raises: Almost none.......... Plenty of people go 3–5 years without a raise (the company has no annual performance review system)
Mid-Autumn Festival and Dragon Boat Festival: Gifts only (selfie sticks/food storage containers/no-name backpacks) ...etc.
Birthday bonus: NT$500
Lunar New Year work-opening red envelope: NT$200
Typhoon days off are unpaid (attendance bonuses are not deducted)
Meal allowance: Calculated based on the actual number of days worked
People in every department have to become operators for one week each month (approximately), called production-line support
Rewards and discipline: The frequency of warnings versus commendations is 10 to 1
Each warning results in a NT$1,000 deduction
Collective punishment: If an operator makes a mistake, the whole group may have money deducted or work hours deducted to compensate the company (which is why many local and foreign workers have left)
Paydays: Basically the 5th of every month. If it falls on a Saturday or Sunday, payment is only delayed, never moved earlier
What is written on 104 (misleading): There are no employee trips at all, no employee gatherings...
Sick leave: Half pay (but the full-attendance bonus is deducted) Calculated by half-month periods (the monthly full-attendance bonus is NT$2,000)
99% of the people in the entire company: Their base salary is listed as NT$21,000.........
Normal working hours
A red envelope of 200 for starting work
May Day/Labor Day: lunch box
Dragon Boat Festival: 500
No year-end bonus; everyone receives bonuses through a lucky draw.
1. The company contract is signed on the first day of employment. Make sure to read it carefully before signing.
2. Staff are frequently reassigned—sometimes to such an extent that you question whether you are actually in the production department.
3. The company is very short-sighted. You can tell by how quickly employees leave: it cannot retain talent. Almost every day is spent dealing with problems, but no one addresses their root causes.
4. A standard traditional family business: the boss/chairman manages the department, with sibling relationships involved, plus completely out-of-touch princesses and princes.
5. Employees are required to wear an ugly uniform. If you leave before completing three months, you must pay for the uniform yourself.
The year-end bonus is usually less than 0.5 months’ salary; I’ve heard of the worst cases receiving less than NT$2,000. Typhoon days off are unpaid, so the amount is deducted from the monthly salary. For the three major holidays, sometimes there is NT$500 or the company fobs employees off with pomelos and rice dumplings. Basically, the company can only let a group of old-timers keep each other warm and cannot retain people.
Pros: In principle, the company generally complies with the Labor Standards Act. Overtime is paid, while some positions are classified as responsibility-based roles (please confirm clearly during the interview whether overtime is paid for your position).
Most supervisors are very nice.
Cons: This year's year-end bonus: gift voucher of around NT$2,000. Last year's year-end bonus: gift voucher of around NT$6,000.
There is no dedicated MIS staff, so you may have to wait a long time for computer issues to be handled (they are handled by outsourced personnel).
From time to time, each department is required to support production-line operations.
Company policy: Item 7 should be revised—it has been a long time since the company organized an employee outing.
