The year-end bonus is usually less than 0.5 months’ salary; I’ve heard of the worst cases receiving less than NT$2,000. Typhoon days off are unpaid, so the amount is deducted from the monthly salary. For the three major holidays, sometimes there is NT$500 or the company fobs employees off with pomelos and rice dumplings. Basically, the company can only let a group of old-timers keep each other warm and cannot retain people.
