Pros

The building’s interior is quite beautiful, and there are pineapple cakes (though I didn’t take one).

Cons

I applied for a graphic design position—my advice to everyone is, don’t come ==

It was truly awful, just as everyone below said. I feel that the employer really shows no respect for interviewees. Din Tai Fung has such a famous reputation externally, but internally it is nothing special. I would rather put my expertise and abilities to work for another company. This is probably one of the worst companies I have ever interviewed with in my life (everyone has freedom of speech; I’m just sharing my own opinion ^_^).

The salary and benefits also seemed just average.

Please, as such a well-known company, could you put away that arrogant, 250-level attitude of yours?

I have a terrible impression of Din Tai Fung...

Pros

Pineapple cakes—delicious.

Cons

Actually, I wouldn’t really call it a drawback, would I?

I interviewed for an English teacher position, and I also have around four or five years of experience (having studied abroad for more than ten years).

However, they seemed rather hesitant about the salary.

Teachers have to go to the branches to teach students, and the branches are in different areas,

which essentially means doing sales work.

You also have to negotiate schedules with the store managers, so interpersonal skills are another important part of the job.

On top of that, you have to translate all the company’s documents

and write lesson plans. Basically, you’re working as both a teacher and a translator.

They offered 50,000 at the time, but kept asking why.

Because I think I’m worth it—what do you think?

The previous person was a foreign teacher, so maybe their salary was higher than what I asked for?

But they left too, haha.

Pros

The salary and benefits are great.

Cons

Let me start with the conclusion: this was one of the most uncomfortable interviews I have ever experienced. The overall atmosphere was disrespectful, and the questions crossed the line, making me feel that the company culture is far more problematic than its public image suggests.

First, regarding the contents of the application form, in addition to basic information, I was required to provide sensitive personal details such as my national ID number, height and weight, home address, and family members’ occupations. The format was almost like a “background investigation.” When I hesitated about whether to fill it out completely, the interviewer’s attitude immediately turned sarcastic and mocking, questioning why I had not filled it in. The tone made me feel very uncomfortable.

Next was the interview itself. The overall style was more like an interrogation, with an obvious sense of skepticism and pressure. They excessively probed my reasons for applying, experiences with interpersonal interactions, and even my family background. It felt more like undergoing a psychological test than having a career conversation.

I also observed another interviewee being asked about interpersonal issues at their previous company. Even after the person had honestly explained the reasons, the interviewer continued pressing for details, showing an obvious lack of empathy. This communication style left me seriously concerned about whether I might encounter workplace bullying or hierarchical pressure if I joined the company in the future.

Din Tai Fung appears to have well-established systems and a strong brand image, but after actually going through an interview there, my impression was completely the opposite.

I sincerely recommend that anyone considering this company experience it firsthand before making a decision, rather than judging it solely by its outward reputation.

You have to change into slippers for the interview to give your feet a break.

You have to climb the stairs to get upstairs to save energy and reduce carbon emissions.

Cons

Aside from the above advantages, I was extremely shocked and disgusted by this company, Din Tai Fung, from top to bottom!

The slightly overweight male HR manager was extremely arrogant. He interviewed the job seeker without having reviewed their résumé beforehand, asking the job seeker to introduce themselves while simultaneously needing to focus on reading the résumé with his head down. Then, every question he asked after looking up was about what had just been covered in the self-introduction. What kind of logically confused hidden ailment is this?

Less than ten minutes into the interview, a friend of the HR manager came to visit. He then left the job seeker sitting there, watching the two of you chat and make small talk in the distance for more than fifteen minutes. After hearing you and your friend mention at the end of the conversation that you were going to have lunch together, you came back to your seat, offered no apology, indication, or explanation, and casually announced that the interview was over and that the job seeker should wait for notification. At that point, I could see your friend waiting in the distance! Did you think the job seeker had no ears or ability to judge the situation, and did not realize that you were rushing off to a meal and had rudely abandoned them?

So, Din Tai Fung:

1. If you treat applicants for senior operations department positions this way, then your treatment of applicants for other positions must be astonishingly poor as well!

2. The job seeker traveled a long way from another county or city, taking the high-speed rail, transferring to the MRT, and then taking a taxi, spending several hours and transportation costs in exchange for a ten-minute unprofessional interview, fifteen minutes of waiting around, and then an interview that ended in an instant?

3. The interviewer mentioned that even headquarters managers and staff need to spend a certain amount of time periodically working at the frontline locations, but may I ask whether you learned humility and basic etiquette from that? Or are you simply taking out long-suppressed negative emotions on job seekers as revenge?

4. The interviewer was careless, absent-minded, and unprofessional—clearly this is Din Tai Fung’s consistent high standard!

I hope job seekers planning to interview at Din Tai Fung are lucky enough to see everyone’s unpleasant experiences first, so they do not waste their time at a company that respects money but not its employees!

Pros

1. Free employee meals

2. Steady salary increases, bonuses, long-service bonuses, holiday cash gifts and gifts

3. A comprehensive promotion system

4. Employee purchase discounts

5. A good place to save money

Cons

The company’s benefits are genuinely so good that there’s nothing to complain about! However, the internal managers really have problems with emotional control. Every day, they emotionally blackmail you, mentally exploit you, and constantly make things difficult for you to the point that you can actually become ill! When managers see their subordinates working in a tense and fearful state, they even feel secretly pleased and say, “That’s exactly how it should be so they’ll be afraid!” They’re simply pathological! Doesn’t the company often say that we should have empathy? Then why is this principle applied only to subordinates, without the superiors examining themselves? We were all raised by our parents; are the lives of us subordinates somehow less valuable? After all, they only get promoted by taking credit with the boss for the work we do. Here, you have to throw away your self-respect in order to stay on.

Pros

There is an employee meal every day at noon (it tastes like food from a typical cafeteria).

Even if you have not yet completed three months of employment, you are still included in the holiday cash gifts and presents. The company is not stingy about this (it values its reputation).

You have to change into indoor slippers when entering the company, which is comfortable for your feet.

Cons

As other friends have mentioned, there are very few stalls in the women's restroom. No matter when you go, you almost always have to queue, and it is crowded.

The colleagues at headquarters are friendly and polite on the surface, greeting you when they see you, but the atmosphere in the company is actually very dull.

The boss comes into the office every day to burn incense and pray. Colleagues working in the small rooms have to endure the smell of incense all day.

In the small department where I worked, apart from the long-serving veteran supervisor, people in my position were constantly changing. During my employment, the training was extremely inadequate, yet they kept looking for opportunities to criticize me and shift the blame for mistakes onto me. In the end, before I had even worked there for three months, they found an excuse that I was unsuitable for the position and dismissed me.

Cons

A renowned Michelin-starred multinational restaurant group, yet its recruitment process is crude and disrespectful to applicants.

So cheap and shabby that it makes job seekers print the company’s exclusive résumé form themselves. On the very day of the interview, which had been arranged in advance,

I arrived only to discover that my name was not on the list. At the front desk, they even required me to leave my identification document as collateral, allowing some random receptionist to look through my résumé. The interviewing manager then arrived late and conducted the interview directly in full view of everyone. Apparently, the entire company treats personal-data privacy protection as nonexistent.

Throughout the process, I was questioned in an interrogative manner and in a somewhat displeased tone. During the conversation, I learned that it was currently the employees’ break time. Sorry for disturbing Your Highness while you were resting—no wonder you were so annoyed!

This whole series of events treated the applicant like a monkey, wasting my time and money. Is Din Tai Fung’s service really so excellent that its employees normally have to force a smile, and after a while need to find an opportunity to vent all their pent-up emotions on job applicants?

Pros

The colleagues who joined at the same time were very nice. The head office provides meals in the staff cafeteria, and everyone changes into company slippers at work, which is quite comfortable.

Cons

There are far too few restrooms, so you often have to queue, and on top of that, you have to put up with colleagues complaining that you take too long in the restroom.

The department has major problems. Besides being understaffed, a pile of tasks is constantly dumped on newcomers.

Newcomers are even put in charge of training other newcomers, leaving everyone completely confused about the situation.

We work overtime until very late every day and don't even dare to leave. Overtime pay also has to be applied for; the supervisor won't provide it proactively.

Given the workload, the salary is low. Moreover, senior colleagues in the same department also scheme against one another and speak ill of each other.

Although everyone is polite on the surface, some employees at the company are very difficult to get along with, and the salary is not even as good as that of working in an external-facing position.

The system seems well organized at first glance, but in practice it is completely impossible to implement, resulting in a high turnover rate.

Pros

After receiving pineapple cakes, the employees were very pleasant.

Cons

Interview position: Research Assistant, Product Research Laboratory

The listed number of openings was 1–10 people. In reality, when I asked the supervisor, they said it was a newly opened position and kept insisting that I had misread it, when they actually only wanted to hire one person.

Moreover, although the position was posted as a research assistant, they were actually looking for a researcher.

The interview required applicants to climb up to the sixth floor, but was then conducted in the lobby. A bunch of employees kept walking by, which was extremely disrespectful to the applicant. They also required logic and aptitude tests, and there were far too many questions.

After interviewing with the supervisor, I asked why they had invited me to interview despite my not having graduated in a related field. They then asked a bunch of questions that I simply had no way of knowing, which was a complete waste of the applicant’s time.

They also suddenly gave me a technical test that day. Several employees watched me take the test while commenting on it beside me, which was incredibly ridiculous.

This is completely a company that does not respect applicants and just wastes other people’s time.

Good pay; profit-sharing is paid every three months. The work is busy during a few holidays each year, but otherwise it is relaxed and easygoing.

Cons

Managers swear at employees. There is severe internal infighting, making it difficult to stay.
