A renowned Michelin-starred multinational restaurant group, yet its recruitment process is crude and disrespectful to applicants.
So cheap and shabby that it makes job seekers print the company’s exclusive résumé form themselves. On the very day of the interview, which had been arranged in advance,
I arrived only to discover that my name was not on the list. At the front desk, they even required me to leave my identification document as collateral, allowing some random receptionist to look through my résumé. The interviewing manager then arrived late and conducted the interview directly in full view of everyone. Apparently, the entire company treats personal-data privacy protection as nonexistent.
Throughout the process, I was questioned in an interrogative manner and in a somewhat displeased tone. During the conversation, I learned that it was currently the employees’ break time. Sorry for disturbing Your Highness while you were resting—no wonder you were so annoyed!
This whole series of events treated the applicant like a monkey, wasting my time and money. Is Din Tai Fung’s service really so excellent that its employees normally have to force a smile, and after a while need to find an opportunity to vent all their pent-up emotions on job applicants?
