The salary and benefits are great.
Let me start with the conclusion: this was one of the most uncomfortable interviews I have ever experienced. The overall atmosphere was disrespectful, and the questions crossed the line, making me feel that the company culture is far more problematic than its public image suggests.
First, regarding the contents of the application form, in addition to basic information, I was required to provide sensitive personal details such as my national ID number, height and weight, home address, and family members’ occupations. The format was almost like a “background investigation.” When I hesitated about whether to fill it out completely, the interviewer’s attitude immediately turned sarcastic and mocking, questioning why I had not filled it in. The tone made me feel very uncomfortable.
Next was the interview itself. The overall style was more like an interrogation, with an obvious sense of skepticism and pressure. They excessively probed my reasons for applying, experiences with interpersonal interactions, and even my family background. It felt more like undergoing a psychological test than having a career conversation.
I also observed another interviewee being asked about interpersonal issues at their previous company. Even after the person had honestly explained the reasons, the interviewer continued pressing for details, showing an obvious lack of empathy. This communication style left me seriously concerned about whether I might encounter workplace bullying or hierarchical pressure if I joined the company in the future.
Din Tai Fung appears to have well-established systems and a strong brand image, but after actually going through an interview there, my impression was completely the opposite.
I sincerely recommend that anyone considering this company experience it firsthand before making a decision, rather than judging it solely by its outward reputation.
