Pros

Ruichuan is a company with a long history. It transformed from a traditional small workshop into a factory, and from 1993 to 2017 it transitioned under the Zhenhua Electronics Group. When interviewing with a company, you need to do your homework and understand the company for which you may use your own time and energy in exchange for a salary in the future…

I still remember that one day during my period of unemployment in 2012, I received an interview invitation from Ruichuan. I took the written test that same day, followed by interviews with two or three supervisors. Naturally, we discussed my understanding of the company’s products. I believe anyone can only respond to the best of their limited ability. Work is something you can choose, and the company can also choose you; this is an unchanging rule that applies everywhere. After the interview, I was told that the result of that day’s interview would be used to evaluate whether there would be a second interview. Of course, I then waited for notification while also looking for interview opportunities with other companies.

There was some discussion about opportunities for promotion and salary increases. I still remember one supervisor mentioning that you need to have “battle achievements.” Of course, wherever you are, earning recognition means accomplishing something… This is the same everywhere.

Cons

Before entering a company, of course you should try to understand and adapt to its culture. You should ask yourself what you can do for the company, rather than what the company should do for you.

You should spend more time learning about any company you plan to interview with, because the company is also investing time and manpower to determine whether you can meet its requirements. Of course, I am not saying that people who are hired will necessarily stay until retirement. Life rarely goes according to plan, and there is no perfect state in which everything always goes smoothly. Let’s encourage one another.

For construction engineering and occupational safety positions, none.

Cons

It is recommended not to work in construction engineering or occupational safety. There are all kinds of problems, but the supervisor is just [profanity].

Pros

1. Stable work, and the benefits system is fairly decent. There are good activities such as bonuses for the three major holidays, which is better than at small companies.

2. Suitable for newcomers to gain experience. Since the overall level is relatively low, this is both an advantage and a disadvantage. However, having the title and experience of a large company can be helpful when changing jobs in the future.

3. When departments need to help each other with work, the production and maintenance supervisor in the Engineering Department actively assists in resolving problems. The section manager is humble and friendly; rather than scolding employees and putting pressure on them, they choose to calmly step in and handle issues together, creating a relatively harmonious work atmosphere.

4. One of the female maintenance technicians there (actually, she should be considered a senior) always helps everyone handle difficult boards that no one else can repair. Although she looks stern, she is always generous in teaching when asked technical questions. She is one of the few people willing to teach, and I am very grateful.

5. When the plant manager sees employees working hard and doing overtime, they occasionally treats them to drinks.

Cons

1. As mentioned earlier, the salary level is relatively low, but it is suitable for newcomers to gain experience and then change jobs with the company’s name on their résumé.

2. Production Department 2 is under greater pressure, possibly due to output targets. The supervisor speaks harshly to employees, and the department atmosphere is oppressive and tense.

3. You have a better chance of being promoted and receiving a raise if you work overtime relentlessly or flatter the plant manager. Conversely, people who value their personal time and do not often cooperate with overtime, or who are technically skilled but do not flatter others, may be less favored.

4. As mentioned above, I want to talk about one of the company’s legendary figures: a Vietnamese female engineer who, by bullying colleagues and newcomers, made sure that she was eventually the only person left in her production-line department. She then used PUA tactics on her supervisor, saying she would resign in order to demand conditions, and eventually even got her own supervisor fired. The plant manager continued promoting her, and she eventually became an engineer.

(Note: She always goes to chat and gossip with the material-control staff and process personnel from Production Department 1 between 08:00 and 09:00 in the morning, speaking maliciously about others—and she is even more brazen when working overtime.)

5. As mentioned above, although she was promoted to engineer, her technical skills are extremely poor. It feels as though she repairs things randomly. The Testing Department and quality-control personnel often reject her work and ask her to redo it; otherwise, the quality is simply very poor. Her attitude is entirely ingratiating toward superiors and domineering toward subordinates: she is kind and cordial to senior engineers and above, but shouts and verbally abuses quality-assurance personnel who bring boards for inspection, making people question the company’s standards for promotions and recognition.

Power struggles and competition for personal gain are commonplace in large companies. You encounter both good and bad people, but low pay is a major weakness. There are also bullying issues internally. The company cannot retain its money, nor can it retain its employees’ loyalty. Times have changed, and if the company does not change, I think it may end up with everyone leaving and the place becoming deserted. I offer the above for reference and hope it can help everyone reading this.

Includes three meals? Four bonuses a year, guaranteed 14 months’ salary.

Cons

The position I interviewed for was in facilities management. I heard they’ve always been short-staffed in electrical and mechanical engineering. During the interview, they kept emphasizing that candidates shouldn’t stand them up and fail to show up. Could there be some hidden issue?

Or is it really as bad as the seniors here say?

Pros

Stable; there have been no unpaid leave periods, and there is still more overtime than can be completed. They are seriously short-staffed, so it may be worth considering.

Cons

The company’s management team keeps changing. Since the management team was replaced, N managers have left, which shows how the new management team treats long-serving employees. As long as you make attractive reports, quickly deal with problems and suppress them, you can still win your supervisor’s favor. Also, as long as you do not carelessly offend people, you will not be saddled with a lot of work. Even if you cannot do anything, as long as you have a good mouth, you can still have a very pleasant time here.

Pros

The building’s exterior looks nice.

Cons

1. They arranged the appointment with me for 12:30 over the phone, but when I arrived, I was told it was actually at 13:30. (I ended up sitting there waiting cluelessly for almost two hours….) Many other people were waiting too……

2. The interviewer spoke quite directly. After looking at my résumé—perhaps because I didn’t have many achievements, projects, or computer experience (I’m not from a related field)—they simply said, “The work here is just repeating the same tasks over and over. It’s very boring.” Honestly, this was the first time I’d ever heard an answer like that……

3. When notifying me of the interview result, they even took the wrong résumé for mine. I was speechless……

To sum up, the first point already left me quite unhappy. If my interview was at 13:30, why did they tell me 12:30? I sat there until my backside went numb—and it wasn’t just me; the others suffered the same fate. I don’t know whether this company is good or not, but I’m someone who cares quite a lot about the attitude and way interviews are handled. By the end, I honestly wanted to just leave without doing the interview… So, other newcomers, please make sure to confirm the interview time carefully before you go~

Pros

Lunch and dinner are included.

However, the taste of the daily boxed meals, daily set meals, and so on is really ordinary. If you want to eat better, you have to pay out of pocket, because

瑞傳 only subsidizes $70 per meal.

They are willing to train newcomers.

14 months guaranteed.

Cons

A lot.

For example, the monthly salary they mention is divided into base salary + position allowance. For bachelor's degree holders, the base salary is as low as that offered to bubble-tea shop workers elsewhere; for master's degree holders, the base salary is also not high. The monthly salary is mainly made up by the position allowance.

Regardless of their prior experience, new hires have to write a daily reflection, explanations of three technical terms each day, and daily progress reports for non-project work. It feels like an elementary school communication notebook. You cannot write random things or too little, because management will review it.

There were many sexual-harassment rumors at the company in its earlier years. Please see the other reviews on Jobment.

There are not that many senior engineers in the company. Five years of experience is genuinely considered senior there. There are also many older employees, some of whom are there to coast toward retirement. Most people there are either still quite inexperienced or older workers.

There is no overtime pay.

Some people really do leave at 6 p.m. on time, while others often stay late and work until 11 p.m. or midnight. Management knows about it but has not taken any action. Those who leave on time do not get raises, while those who often work overtime do get raises—but there is no overtime pay.

No other benefits.

Also, they seem to really like hiring people without relevant work experience, then offering them the salary of a new bachelor's or master's graduate? I have a friend with a master's degree in computer science from National Taiwan University of Science and Technology who was recruited by 瑞傳 for an EC firmware engineer interview, and they offered him a “master's new-hire salary,” ignoring his 5–10 years of work experience.

They will ask newcomers to do work outside their job responsibilities, then say it is very simple. The senior employees and supervisors themselves do not do it, and eventually that newcomer resigned.

The company actually has no new-hire training system. Newcomers have to seek out former employees' experience to learn things; they simply send you the presentation or Word file left by the previous person for reference.

The general manager and the company have been taken over by ASUS.

瑞傳’s annual salary is generally only about 14–15 months’ worth.

As for performance bonuses, you can receive one only if you handle very urgent projects. In my team, for example, only the manager could receive a performance bonus.

As for profit sharing, the maximum is only one month’s salary.

After working at 瑞傳, I will not want to stay in the industrial-computer industry again. The pay is ridiculously low.

My friend graduated from university, passed the civil service examination, and entered the public-sector system with an annual salary starting at NT$650,000. A master's graduate at 瑞傳 earns about NT$600,000–650,000 annually.

Also, one team in the software department will be completely wiped out next month; everyone has already jumped ship.

The employees are easy to get along with.

The deputy manager of the manufacturing department likes to harass female migrant workers, spends all day causing trouble there, drives away dedicated employees, and upper management turns a blind eye and refuses to deal with it.

Pros

Lunch and dinner subsidies, beautiful building exterior

Cons

This company is basically a wolf in sheep’s clothing. The building looks bright and glamorous on the outside, but the products are a complete mess..

They are unwilling to hire talent and have no systems in place, resulting in an extreme loss of talent and products with bugs that can never be fully resolved.

Richtek has only two types of employees: recent graduates who are new to the workforce, and older employees who cannot find work anywhere else.

The upper management follows the same principle.

Every company has areas where its systems are inadequate, but the most intolerable thing is this:

Gender Equality in Employment Act — List of Employers in Violation:

Richtek Technology Corporation

Ruili Military Industry Co., Ltd.

https://ilabor.ntpc.gov.tw/cloud/Violate

It is extremely lacking in ethics and morality, and has even less of a people-oriented mindset (the company slogan). How ironic.

If you come for an interview, you may encounter a lower-level supervisor with a good attitude, or even the supposedly only incorruptible chairman.

However, the company is a family business, and the chairman is merely a puppet. This family is spread throughout the entire company, and the company’s philosophy follows this family as well. There are people with connections and ties to the ruling family who sleep at their desks every day and even sleep during meetings, yet they can still be promoted and receive salary increases because of their connections.

A sincere piece of advice: if you’re a university graduate with no experience, don’t go unless you have a strong heart. It feels like they just randomly pick people to interview, and if they don’t like the look of you, they’ll nitpick everything you do. In front of the interviewer, don’t perform too well; you need to be meek and deferential—that’s what they want to see. When you go, remember to bring your transcripts from elementary school through the present, along with your work samples, because they want to see “data.” When writing your résumé, remember to bring a pencil and eraser, because they don’t like résumés covered in correction tape.

Because Job Recruitment SkyEye lost some of the comments, I’m posting this again to prevent any unsuspecting female newcomers to the workforce from being lured into this dangerous place.

Cons

Women, do not join this BU!

This BU Head has repeatedly been involved in rumors about relationships with female employees under their direct supervision within the company.

Female employees are required to take clients to nightclubs.

When female employees are sexually harassed by clients during visits, the supervisor not only fails to protect them but also placates them by saying, "It’s just a bit of fun~ What’s the harm~"

Please be careful.

Coworkers are easy to get along with

Bonuses for the three major holidays

Birthday cash gifts

Dividends and employee trips

You get all the basic benefits you should have

Cons

1. If you're lucky and get along with your supervisor and the office staff, things are very easy.

If you're unlucky, every day feels like living in hell.

2. One system on the surface, but an unlimited number of systems in practice.

The rules always apply to the operators—for example, no mobile phones or eating inside the facility. But if those above don't follow the rules, how can the people below be expected to?

3. A hierarchical system: senior employees bully newcomers, while management pressures frontline staff.

4. A family-owned company and affiliated businesses.

If you don't have the right connections, you just have to rely on luck to get by.

5. The office staff have less and less work to do, spending every day chatting and picking faults.

The operators have become subject to a responsibility-based system, with more and more responsibilities.

If it were easy to think of advantages, why would I have left?

Cons

The mistress incident actually had no major impact on you or me. It was just like the cases involving Jackie Chan, Giddens Ko, and a whole bunch of entertainers: even if the other person moved from being a third-year mistress to a fourth-year mistress and continued until graduating from university, it still had nothing to do with either of us. It was simply a matter of impressions such as “being upset,” “finding it hard to accept,” and “lacking social morality.”

However, sexual harassment is an extremely serious matter because it is a crime. It is contempt, invasion, oppression, and a form of objectifying women. It really does happen around us. The perpetrator is sending the message that as long as someone has the ability and connections, they can toy with any girl without paying any price. This idea will create a copycat effect: once there is a first leader, there will absolutely be a second follower!

The aftermath of the Cheng Chieh incident produced this effect; during that period, we often heard news about someone taking a knife onto the MRT.

Coincidentally, the perpetrator also happened to live in Jiangzicui, not too far from Cheng Chieh’s home.

The plant’s equipment is new, Chunghwa Telecom’s signal is excellent, and there’s full reception throughout the plant, including the basement!

Cons

People get promoted to senior engineer as long as they’ve been employed long enough, even if they don’t have much ability. As for assistant managers… if you want to resign, they’ll just assign you a project manager position. Some departments are almost entirely managers with hardly any staff—does that sound like an advantage? …But it’s too ridiculous, so I’m still listing it under the disadvantages~

For the first three months, new employees have to write a daily reflection report. This is considered extremely important; if you don’t write one, or don’t write it well or in sufficient detail, your supervisor will be questioned, and you’ll be questioned along with them… Even people with extensive relevant work experience have to write them!

Because upper management relies too heavily on daily reports… employees have learned to respond with rote, superficial logs, making them resemble elementary school communication notebooks between home and school…

No matter how busy a project is, you can’t forget the daily report. Upper management absolutely loves presentations; it’s gotten to the point where you can’t tell whether you came to work on projects or attend classes and hand in homework~

Oh, right… a supervisor in one department is very protective of the female employees—even interfering with whom they go out with on their days off… It’s baffling… Are the department’s female colleagues minors? Do they really need this much looking after?

There are some, but I’m still thinking about it.

Cons

It is not recommended to join this group during 2017. At present, its personnel policies and salary rules are wavering and unsettled. Whenever protests or opposing opinions arise, it uses delaying tactics—announcing new strategies but not implementing them—to slow staff turnover.

The employees who have left—dozens in the first half of the year alone—were all junior managers, prospective junior managers, or employees with 3–5 years of experience. (Don’t doubt it: because the company cannot retain people, 3–5 years counts as experienced.) This shows how disappointing the various strategies from 2016 to 2017 have been.

It is recommended to wait until after 2018, when all strategy announcements are transparent and internal information can be obtained, before considering applying.

Okay~ Let me summarize for everyone~~

1. If the company protects sexual harassment perpetrators, the women who remain at the company will feel scared~

2. On New Year's Day, you have to obediently attend the company's flag-raising ceremony and do morning exercises~ Otherwise, when the company weeds out the weak and retains the strong, you won't have any "immunity"~ Hehe

3. There are many men and women at the company who like to act out drama-like scenarios (if you're willing to play the female lead, you can be promoted to business manager~)

4. Even without a technical background, you can transfer from sales to PM; communication is so easy and effortless—so great~

5. Salaries were already below the industry average, and after the New Year the company even cut front-line employees' pay by 10% as well. What a sob story~

This is a company that trains employees to find ways to solve difficulties on their own, helping them develop independence.

This place is suitable for 100% newcomers (but only men). The company offers low salaries, but as long as you can support yourself, it is willing to give you a platform.

Cons

Many managers at this company like to make sexually suggestive jokes.

There has been more than one incident of sexual harassment, but the company has tried to suppress the news and settle matters quietly.

Some managers ask female employees to accompany clients to nightclubs, or ask female sales staff to play drinking games with clients during meals.

A typical Taiwanese family-owned business; senior management is mostly made up of family members, and you shouldn't mess with the well-connected relatives.

The department head is young and can get along well with subordinates, but the work goes in circles, and there are plenty of opportunities to write reports endlessly.

The position is 100% suitable for fresh graduates. The company is willing to give you a stage, but you need to be self-reliant! Hang in there!
