I have interviewed with around a dozen companies, and this was by far the worst interview experience. I applied for an HR-related position, and the interviewer was a male manager who looked very much like an uncle.

While speaking, he would suddenly cough up phlegm. When his phone rang, he simply answered it, and after finishing the call, he told me to continue speaking.

Even more outrageous, while I was introducing myself, the manager suddenly stood up, walked over to get some water, and then came back. He then said, “Continue.” It was extremely disrespectful to the interviewee. If even the HR manager treats interviewees this disrespectfully,

there’s no need to imagine how the company might treat its internal employees. They later called to offer me the position, but I rejected it outright.

I had been at the Banqiao store for less than three months.

I had just started working as an administrative assistant.

During my first month, the senior coworker training me went on maternity leave.

That left me to figure out on my own what I was supposed to do every day.

Administration and warehouse management have it the worst every month.

You’re responsible for taking meeting minutes and ordering breakfast.

There are five meetings every month, and you’re not allowed to take the day off. Even if you’re on leave, you still have to come in for the meeting. You have to arrive at 8 a.m. and may not get off work until as late as 11 p.m. Then, on top of ordering lunch boxes every day, the employees inside will complain that the food you ordered tastes terrible.

The administrative assistant also has to handle money and sign a guarantor promissory note starting at NT$200,000. If any money is missing, they’ll make you pay for it (even though the store manager and the supervisor in the green polo shirt also handled it).

In short, one day during a meeting, the store manager suddenly asked me why the information for a certain project hadn’t been updated. The problem was that no one had handed this over to me in the first place—how was I supposed to update it? And no one was willing to teach me how to do it.

Then, for no apparent reason, they told me not to come back.

I had originally applied for a store specialist position, but they asked me to work as an assistant instead.

When they wanted to transfer me to the store while also having me continue as an assistant, they simply told me not to come back.

What the fuck do you take me for? Manager Wang of the Banqiao store, fuck you.

The employees there were also of very poor quality. The younger ones had terrible attitudes, and the auto repair shop goes without saying—everyone acted like a thug. Chewing betel nuts, smoking, and drinking in the office were completely commonplace.

None whatsoever!!

Cons

The worst and most outrageous interview experience I have ever had!!

Before receiving the company’s unsolicited invitation to interview, I had already seen a great deal of negative feedback about it online.

But I thought that a lot of time had passed and wanted to see whether the company had improved and made progress, so I agreed to attend the interview.

Before the interview, the company’s HR representative even sent me three documents to fill out, which truly wasted more than three hours of my time!

When I arrived at the company, I told the receptionist that I was there for an interview!

I was immediately led to a small meeting room to wait. Then someone who was probably from HR walked in‥

Suddenly, they told me: “The interviewing manager has something urgent to attend to and is currently in an online meeting” (that manager was actually the department director).

They asked me to wait in the meeting room, and HR also said it wouldn’t take too long! They said they wouldn’t let me wonder‥ “Why has it been so long and no one has come yet?”

In the end, HR contradicted themselves by giving me advance notice of exactly what was about to happen. What a joke!!

I immediately said: “How long will I have to wait? I have something to do later and will leave‥”

And sure enough‥ they began acting out exactly what everyone online who had interviewed at Car1 has shared‥

They treated the interviewee like a fool, with HR and the person in charge working together to toy with the candidate who had come for the interview.

HR had even notified me through the job bank: “Please be sure to arrive on time! If something comes up and you can’t make it, please let us know in advance,” and other such bullshit.

Yet they themselves failed to keep their word. For such a large automotive retail company‥ to show such disregard for talent is truly ridiculous. It was utterly laughable.

After waiting in the meeting room for half an hour, I got up, took my bag, and walked out, because if you don’t leave, who knows how long you’ll end up waiting?! Before leaving, I said to the employee at the reception desk: “This has been too long!” (pointing at my watch) “Look, do you know what time it is?

Later‥ shortly before 6 p.m., the other party (the interviewing manager) called and said something about someone coming to find them for a meeting or whatever! Then they said they were sorry and so on‥! They also asked when I would be available to come back for another interview. Of course, I did not agree outright; I politely declined instead.

So, after all these years, this company still hasn’t changed its old habits or negative reputation!!

Everyone, please be extremely careful with this company. I even suspect that the interviewing manager may have some kind of psychological disorder.

After toying with someone, they still call to test the person’s mood and state or something?!

They even deliberately left the door open and invited me to interview again‥ (but it was already meaningless.)

Even if you were invited to interview again, would you still want to go? To have such little respect for other people’s time, to have no sense of time yourself, and still be a manager? It’s utterly laughable. HR was also absolutely terrible, with no character or sense of ethics whatsoever.

The colleagues are all good people

Cons

The top boss definitely has some kind of split personality disorder.

They inexplicably fly off the handle from time to time. If you don’t reply to a text message after work, prepare to be viciously berated. They treat the colleagues around them as punching bags—sorry, not colleagues…

You are all my slaves, slaves I pay to hire.

They curse and fly off the handle whenever something crosses their mind, depending on their mood.

If they can’t find the department manager, they berate the secretary; they berate the manager.

Whatever the matter, they find someone to berate.

They berate anyone they see. Not a single day is normal, and then afterward they act as if nothing happened.

Inside, you either suffer a mental breakdown or are preparing to have one.

New hires, please take care.

Several colleagues previously resigned because of depression. If you have a strong mind or a very familiar psychologist, then consider joining.

The boss’s condition: from time to time they get worked up, regardless of the season or weather—only, and exclusively, their hormones.

Free meals provided at the store

Cons

At my previous store, I worked from 10 AM to 10 PM or even 11 PM, and inventory counts went past midnight; there was no overtime pay…

My performance was very good, and I was often envied by others…

In the end, I was driven out by verbal bullying and profanity from the short manager at the Banqiao store. This manager must never have encountered bad people before—make you hurt once and you’ll know. Let’s see what happens… (As someone with proper upbringing, I simply chose to leave.)

If you are interviewing for a store staff position at Chia Li Wu, do not go to Banqiao under any circumstances; it is hard work with no appreciation…

1. I applied for an engineering position, but it took the company more than a month to contact me.

2. I replied asking a few questions about the job and salary, but then they went completely silent... Luckily, I didn't waste time going to an interview. Throughout the entire process, I could not feel any sincerity from this company about wanting to recruit.

Same manager (Are shareholders great?) Extremely poor personal ethics

Likes to exploit employees; if he takes a dislike to someone, he uses every possible means to force them out.

Incompetent yet loves meddling in all sorts of things, as if the employees owe him something.

Extremely disgusting. Don't even consider this job.

Pathetic manager (or shareholder), paying listing staff that kind of salary and then later saying that the job needs to be all-encompassing.

Whenever there’s someone he doesn’t like, he keeps piling work onto them. Are listing staff supposed to handle customer service and bookkeeping too?

It’s obvious that he wants to drive people away and exploit them. Workplace bullying is what he does best.

Disgusting company. Everyone, be careful.

Nothing... felt it.

Cons

Let me share the worst interview experience I’ve had since starting my career.

The position I applied for was “Marketing Supervisor.”

The company’s HR department called to schedule the interview, roughly arranging it two days in advance for an interview two days later.

The invitation email specifically noted not to be late and to give advance notice if the time needed to be changed.

On the day of the interview, I arrived 15 minutes early and waited at the reception desk.

Since I arrived early, I thought it was understandable that no one came out until the scheduled interview time had arrived.

The person who came out first gave me two forms to fill out: one was a personality assessment, and the other was a logic test.

The position I applied for was “Marketing Supervisor.”

After filling out the forms and entering my information, which took about 20 minutes, I handed them to the receptionist to pass along to the contact who had arranged the interview. That took about 10 minutes.

Then the contact came out and told me to wait a little longer—the manager was still in a meeting and would be out shortly!

At that moment, I was honestly dumbfounded. I thought, wasn’t this time slot arranged for my interview? And I was applying for a managerial position.

How could they still schedule a meeting that delayed the interview time...?

So the interview coordinator handed me a company brochure, probably more than 30 pages long. I finished reading the entire thing, and the interviewer still hadn’t come out.

I waited until the next hour mark. In total, I waited for more than an hour; excluding the time spent filling out the forms, I had waited at least half an hour.

I was extremely angry, so I packed up my bag and left immediately. Downstairs, I called the interview coordinator and told him that I had been there for more than an hour and still hadn’t seen anyone from the interview team.

I said that I assumed they weren’t very interested in filling the position, and since I had other things to do, I was leaving.

The person who answered the phone also sounded guilty and simply said, “Sorry...”

About two hours after I left, I received a call from the hiring manager, who asked why I had left. I explained what had happened, but he didn’t apologize.

He only asked to reschedule the interview for the next day, saying that he would have the COO interview me directly as well!?

Then he tried to give me some ridiculous excuse about how no one had told him that a candidate was coming to interview...

In the end, I politely but firmly declined. I told him I had never interviewed for a job with such a terrible attitude!

Although I had read the company’s reviews on Job Review Insight before going to the interview,

I thought I would still give it a try since it wasn’t far from my home.

I didn’t expect it to be such a complete disaster. Sure enough, the reviews on Job Review Insight really are worth taking into consideration!

I have never interviewed with such an awful company!

The contact person proactively called to invite me to an interview. After we agreed on a time, the email even noted that I had to arrive on time and could not be late. That day, I arrived 10 minutes early and waited at the location, telling the receptionist that I was there to interview for the xxxii主任 position.

The receptionist was initially dumbfounded, and when she called the contact person, she kept saying that she had not received any notification or anything.

Then they told me to wait in a small room by the entrance, where I filled out a pile of information and also had to take an intelligence test. In short, the interview was scheduled for 2:00, but I finished filling out the information and handed it in at 2:20. Then the contact person told me that the manager was in a meeting and asked me to wait a moment, saying that the manager would come out shortly. I waited all the way until 3:00, but no one showed up.

For a company that shows such disrespect toward people, I simply got up and left. I called the contact person downstairs, explained why, and then left.

For a company that is so disrespectful even during an interview, I do not believe it would treat its employees very well, nor do I believe it would put much care into serving its customers.

Conclusion: An absolute disaster.

1. Free lunch once a month

2. That's it

Cons

1. The supervisor is very arrogant and likes to make things difficult for people. Even though he’s clearly incompetent, he insists on taking charge.

2. Every day, you have to do all kinds of nonsensical odd jobs that waste your work time.

3. The supervisor loves holding meetings because that’s the only way he can feel relevant.

You can purchase some automotive accessories at employee prices (without being treated like a sucker).

Cons

Senior management policies are unclear and frequently change, making it difficult to adapt.

People at headquarters keep changing, except for the three problematic senior executives who have not left...

The managers are extremely incompetent; they only flatter those above them and berate those below...

Pros

In 2016, revenue was nearly one billion, but the year-end bonus was extremely insincere. I heard it was 0.7 months for managers, 0.5 months for specialists, and 0.3 months for assistants.

They exploit workers relentlessly: the working hours are too long, and salaries are underreported. The “full salary” promised during the interview includes NT$3,000 in “fixed overtime pay” (so you have no way to report them for failing to pay overtime). If you are a store specialist, they will also tell you that it includes NT$4,000 as a perfect-attendance bonus, leaving only four days off per month; if you take more leave, this bonus will be deducted…

They spend money to hire mid- to senior-level talent, but such employees never stay long. Anyone with a conscience and common sense should choose to leave as quickly as possible.

If you are looking for an entry-level job, whether at headquarters or in a store, it is recommended that you not stay for more than a year; there are better opportunities for development elsewhere. If you are mid- to senior-level in the retail industry, I recommend blacklisting this company and not wasting your life there.
