Pros

If you feel that everything you are working on is progressing smoothly, it may be because you have a strong team (both internal staff and outsourced vendors are part of your team) helping you accomplish everything. Whether or not you are the owner of the company, at this moment, having this team and their trust is equivalent to possessing the collective capabilities of everyone.

Another obvious phenomenon occurs when you move to another company and find that your performance has declined (or become stronger), despite putting in the same effort (or finding things easier) and thoughtfully considering strategies suitable for the team. Do not expect things to be the same as at your previous company, because the team has changed.

The quality of the people determines how far a company can go and which things are simply impossible to accomplish. Even if you are personally outstanding, it is difficult to change much. If you are running a brand, the team’s character is more or less the brand’s character. HR (the personnel department / Human Resource management) is the most important core of a company, even more important than the sales department!

HR is the company’s internal brand marketing department and needs the greatest share of the company’s brand resources (emotional/material). A company does not have to be a well-known market brand to possess brand resources; even a factory can have abundant brand resources. Paying attention to HR and finding professional brand managers to distill and develop those resources is key to the company’s sustainable development.

How to make talented people willingly work for the company from the bottom of their hearts is HR’s most important KPI. In the future, clocking in and out and calculating salaries can simply be handed over to AI robots.

If you are a company operator or department manager, and the company’s HR can only perform basic tasks such as recording attendance, handling lateness, and calculating wages according to labor laws, without contributing to or investing in the training and care of the company’s internal talent, yet your company (or department) can still operate smoothly and develop successfully, that means you are the real HR behind the scenes. What you possess is the love of the entire team—their willingness to contribute their talents to this company (or department). That is priceless.

Pros

A compassionate chairman and the group shelter the general manager, enabling a story of doing whatever they want, wasting money, randomly using the company tax ID number, randomly hiring relatives and friends to come work, and shifting blame.

Cons

In 2024, we are about to witness the story of how hiring the wrong general manager can bring a brand to an end ^^

Pros

If you are serious about developing your career and quickly accumulating experience, this is a good place.

If you are willing to learn, you can definitely learn a lot.

The area around the company is pleasant, with good amenities.

Cons

Some supervisors only make cynical remarks from the sidelines, yet do not know how to properly apply their years of work experience to their jobs. They cannot produce any concrete results and are afraid of this and that.

None at this stage

Cons

【 Bonuses for Taking Care of Your Wallet 】

1. Year-end performance bonus---Pathetically small compared with other traditional industries. The company keeps losing money month after month and year after year yet still manages to pay it out; it really relies on its rich parent company (the parent group).

2. Festival gift money---Not too much, not too little: exactly NT$1,000.

3. Quarterly bonus---There is a quarterly bonus for back-office staff, but it is generally around NT$2,000–3,000. As for sales bonuses, they shoot the arrow first and draw the target afterward. Don’t even mention the bonus targets—the targets are set without any basis whatsoever.

4. Labor Day gift money---It is simply birthday gift money under a different name.

【 Team Insurance Provides Coverage 】

1. Labor insurance/National Health Insurance/group insurance---Everything that should be provided is provided. That’s pretty basic, isn’t it?

2. Pension contributions---Depends on the individual.

【 Personal Learning and Growth 】

1. Comprehensive promotion channels---As long as you are obedient, or if you are someone parachuted in by them, you will definitely have opportunities.

2. Diverse career planning---Rotations among channels, positions, and even seats are normal, but the more obedient you are, the more likely you are to be assigned the lousy jobs.

3. Employee independent-autonomy management---It simply means they do not like colleagues to be too friendly with one another.

4. Reading and continuing education (book, newspaper, and magazine shelf)---Reading is a good thing, but the books are either from before 2020 or current magazines. I hear they are very good at dumping articles into the managers’ group chat and requiring written reports, managing you as if you were an idiot.

5. Lectures on various topics---It is simply listening to him talk. Gradually, you will discover that he has little substance.

6. Diverse training activities---It simply means spending company money to find friends he knows to conduct self-styled charity activities.

【 Great Benefits for Leisure and Life 】

1. Annual year-end banquet---There is one every year.

2. Department dinners---Forget it. There have been none since the second half of 2022, and there were none at all in 2023.

3. Birthday celebrations---Forget it. There have been none since the second half of 2022, and there were none at all in 2023. I hear his favorite employee still got red wine for their birthday last year.

4. Festival activities---Isn’t it simply taking a day off whenever there is a public holiday? Isn’t that pretty basic?

5. Snack cabinet---It falls far short of what you imagine a snack cabinet to be; there are not even drinks. Moreover, snacks are only available when offerings have been made to Tudigong (on the 2nd and 16th days of the lunar month).

6. Special employee prices for Avier products---With a fourfold markup, how good can the employee purchase prices really be? You might as well buy another well-known brand.

【 Worry-Free Leave 】

1. Two-day weekends---Yes.

2. Annual leave---Yes.

3. Paternity leave---Yes.

4. Maternity leave---Yes.

5. Menstrual leave---Yes.

【 Heartwarming Living Subsidies 】

1. Childbirth allowance---None. You have to be thick-skinned enough to let the company know you are having a child before someone will give you a red envelope; the company does not provide one.

2. Marriage gift money---NT$2,600. Few people got married while employed there.

3. Business-trip allowance---It varies by person. Choose the right team and you can go abroad and spend over NT$100,000; choose the wrong team and they will even make you write a report for domestic store visits, otherwise you may have to wait a long time for reimbursement of expenses.

4. Transportation allowance---If you mean transportation for business trips, see the explanation above. Remember to choose the right team.

Pros

1 It has a fairly structured system. The highest-level or direct supervisor gives you quite a lot of flexibility in how you work. Basically, they only look at your results, not the process. If you do not do well, be prepared to have it brought up at any time. Even after you leave, you may remain in the company’s history as an eternal teaching example. But don’t worry—there are often scapegoats brought out to shield everyone from the blame. As long as the scapegoat is still around, they will take on nearly half, or more than half, of the responsibility for you.

2 The head of HR will pray for you and is also easy to get along with. You can talk about what is on your mind, too. However, many matters related to HR seem to be handled by another department? I’m not entirely sure.

3 The environment is fairly decent. The desks are small; I heard they used to be larger. Not many people maintain cleanliness, so even after tidying up, it gets messy again soon. The music in the outer office area is very party-like and high-energy, so if you want to work quietly, don’t come.

4 It is a large, well-established company. Management often says there is no need to worry about going unpaid one day. This is extremely important, although I don’t know whether it is simply something they say to keep employees from leaving easily. Still, there are probably quite a few companies in Taiwan that fail to pay wages.

5 It is a proper, principled company that generally follows the rules. It is not careless about certifications and insists on not cutting corners. Sometimes management wants to cut corners and gets stopped by middle managers, who are then criticized for being inflexible. But the company is perhaps too principled, so processes can take much longer.

6 Coworkers have good relationships, and there is not much workplace etiquette. Is that a benefit? Haha. Anyway, just don’t become a manager; otherwise, you would probably be a very miserable one. I hear middle managers are often made into targets of resentment and sarcasm.

7 Middle managers who come here can develop extremely strong stress resistance. I mean that you need to be prepared to often be mocked, or to have management overturn something they had verbally agreed to after it is already halfway implemented. Management will say that all responsibility is theirs, but they absolutely will not let you off the hook on LINE. After all those setbacks, how could your mental resilience not become stronger?

8 High base salary? If sales targets are missed for several months, there is no bonus, and nobody seems particularly bothered. If I were in sales, why would I keep doing sales without bonuses? Unless the company were close to home and had a high base salary, haha. Sales has it easy: once the products are listed, their job is basically done. If sales are poor, it has nothing to do with them; just shift the blame to another department.

9 I often hear middle managers angrily confronting the GM. The GM thinks the other person did not do well, while the middle manager thinks they did nothing wrong—who knows. There is no shared understanding. How many companies let employees confront the GM face-to-face and get away with it? I had never heard of one before, so can the GM’s good temper count as a benefit? In a typical company, they might simply tell you to leave.

10 If you get your work done, you can generally leave and arrive on time.

11 About 80% of the products are genuinely made with care, especially the company’s core business of cables. No complaints there.

Cons

1 Some people will lead others in complaining or say things are a “three or four.” You have to judge what is true for yourself. People with little social experience may be influenced very quickly.

2 Capable people are often assigned a lot of work. Don’t show your abilities too readily, or be careful that you do not run out of time.

3 It gives the impression of favoring men over women. A salesperson whose performance has barely grown and has even declined for several months keeps getting promoted, apparently just because they have a family. I also have cats, dogs, and parents to support. People whose performance is growing even earn less and hold lower positions than those with worse performance. It makes no sense.

4 Salespeople appear to get along harmoniously, but it feels like they often fight secretly behind the scenes. It is probably not the only department like this. I have seen people online say they do not leave because coworkers have good relationships. Giving up your career for relationships would be foolish.

5 Some people love shouting “guava jam”—promising unrealistic sales—but when the unsold inventory piles up, they do not seem very proactive about selling it. If it cannot be sold, they only want to slash the price; if the price cannot be cut, they choose to ignore it. The inventory situation is frightening, and only one department keeps an eye on inventory.

6 Warehouse staff need strong warehouse-management skills, a strong stomach, and plenty of courage. Distribution channels often return products suddenly—not small batches, but large ones—and they do not notify you. It is the kind of thing that leaves you completely stunned. If you want to work up a sweat and enjoy personal space, you can come here and work quietly while listening to J.

7 Sales, product, and marketing departments often get mixed together. It is unclear who is actually sales and who is development or marketing. They love interfering with one another instead of handling their own responsibilities, and they also like randomly deducting “help.” Sales and certain people love doing their own thing and do not follow management’s instructions either, as if they are not afraid of punishment.

8 For any project you take on, it is best to have management approve every step. Otherwise, once execution is halfway complete, management may deny having approved it or demand changes here and there, and you will be the one who suffers in the end.

9 The organizational chart is also an eye-opener. You see the same person listed in several departments at once. Wherever something goes wrong, that person gets blamed, with an extremely high probability. It seems like the company is merely trying to hold things together. I wonder how that person can still take care of things at home. If it were me, I would probably bring the emotions home too.

10 The GM wants to raise product prices, while sales only wants to sell low-priced products. Low prices mean the distribution channels eat up the profits, and then they complain every month that there is no money. Prices should be raised when they need to be; otherwise, where do the rest of us get our bonuses? They only complain that the products cannot be sold. Hello? Isn’t sales supposed to sell whatever there is to sell? Otherwise, they should just work for a company with hit products. The PMs working on the products are frustrated too.

11 The GM recruited someone from outside who had worked at a luxury-goods company, saying they wanted to internalize that experience and improve the company’s presence. But the people inside do not seem very willing to follow them. To be honest, their writing is only average; perhaps their English is stronger.

12 The management department seems to only want to be the nice guys. Hello? Could you please stop letting people without rules become even more undisciplined? Is that fair to those of us who follow the rules?

13 The previous generations of teams left many messes for the current team. Members of earlier generations, including family members and people recruited by management, were involved, but these people do not seem to take responsibility for the messes, and management has never required them to do so. As for the people here now… tsk tsk. Good luck to you.

14 The GM seems to think everything is easy. Anyone can talk big; I can do that too.

Pros

1. After leaving, you’ll develop a contented personality because:

✔️ The salary outside is much higher, and everything you do will make you happy.

✔️ Outside, you don’t have to attend meetings that involve emotional blackmail—and meetings will actually have conclusions and solutions.

✔️ Outside, you don’t have to write daily, weekly, monthly, and annual reports, along with all kinds of meaningless reports.

In short, after leaving, even the things you hate most will seem fine, helping your career develop in an extremely stable way!

2. Best benefit: Jizhongsheng Kindergarten

There is a boss who always says he has extensive marketing experience and believes he possesses powerful marketing knowledge. He likes to “teach classes” to everyone, especially helping to establish everyone’s foundation. Most of the time, every department is listening to his basic marketing curriculum—content that you could probably learn just by browsing the internet without majoring in marketing. The longer you stay at the company, the longer you get to listen. It is truly very useful: the most profound marketing kindergarten teaching materials, with the strongest teaching staff!

3. If entering a company tax ID had ranks, he would be a king, while you would be bronze!

Continuing with the protagonist from the second point: the all-capable marketing, sales, and product prodigy boss. He is very good to his employees and likes to treat everyone to drinks and tangyuan! Tangyuan are truly the soul of Jizhongsheng. You absolutely have to eat Red Bean Mom’s tangyuan! Whenever paying, you must enter the company tax ID!

4. Overseas development is super easy—you can become the best overseas sales representative too!

This company is very simple: as long as you have a friend with a small shop overseas and happen to fly there to put up a display stand, that counts as channel development. Developing overseas channels is just that easy. By putting up a display stand, you too can become a sales prodigy who has ventured beyond Taiwan!

Cons

Such a great company has only one drawback!

The coworkers are genuinely just too nice,

so you can’t bear to leave.

Not being able to bear leaving affects your career development,

letting you continue wasting time in this place.

If the coworkers weren’t so nice, I would have left after one month!

Hehe~

Pros

The relationship with colleagues is “fairly” harmonious. There are regular birthday dinners, occasional department gatherings, and the snack cabinet is quite well stocked. The leave policy is fairly complete and comprehensive, giving employees quite a lot of freedom. The equipment is also pretty good; the lights, chairs, and computers have all just been replaced.

Cons

They make simple things complicated and hold meaningless, time-wasting meetings, yet there are still colleagues who nod along enthusiastically. Usually, these colleagues who do not want to offend their superiors are incapable people who have nevertheless been excessively praised. They pretend to be stupid thoroughly, then stab others in the back.

Those with ability and experience have left whenever possible. At present, the people who remain are mostly inexperienced newcomers and brainwashed employees; there are hardly any who have been here for a long time. As long as you are willing to sell your soul—the part of you that can distinguish right from wrong—this may be the place for you.

Pros

By comparison, the workday ends a little earlier here. There is a birthday celebration every month, snacks in the snack cabinet, and the capsule coffee machine is pretty good. Setting aside competence, most colleagues are easy to get along with.

As long as you have connections or are good at flattering the higher-ups, you can live comfortably here even without much ability. It is suitable for those looking for an easy retirement job.

It is also a good place for people without relevant work experience to pad their résumés, because most people from top to bottom do not have much experience either. It is a place where everyone learns together through practical experience.

The work environment and equipment are not bad: comfortable chairs, computer equipment, and so on.

Moreover, the company is “basically” a law-abiding company. Although complying with the law should be a given, law-abiding companies seem to be uncommon in Taiwan.

Cons

The boss is one of a pair of third-generation rich brothers: one is capable but does not want to manage, while the other is the opposite.

Some colleagues who have been here longer are very scheming—the type who put on a good front but actually plot against people behind their backs.

There is no fair system for bonuses, work assignments, or division of responsibilities. Basically, any problem can be “solved” by dumping it all on a particular department. Those who identify and raise problems end up being dealt with, or choose to leave themselves.

Everyone with experience and ability has left, yet management still cannot figure out what the problem is. Half the company consists of newcomers, while many of the other half do not know how to do their work and only know how to dump it on newcomers or a particular department.

Although this is a school for entering society, do not expect anyone to teach you anything genuinely useful, because almost everyone capable has already left...

Pros

Punctual working hours, flexible schedule

Cons

Long-tenured employees shirk responsibility and cherry-pick their work. The office is unhygienic and has lots of cockroaches. When I was hired, they said my salary would be adjusted after I passed the probationary period, but that never happened. The year-end bonus they promised also never materialized. They just keep fobbing people off with nice-sounding words, making promises about what will happen later. There is serious internal infighting; performance does not matter—only who knows how to curry favor. The company's rules and processes are chaotic, and policies change from one day to the next, leaving people unsure whom to listen to.
