The arrogance within traditional industries. This workplace is suitable for people with connections and networks. Mid-level managers and above don’t necessarily need to be capable, because they simply use their “subordinates’” completed reports. When you naively believe that the promotion prospects discussed during the interview are a wonderful dream, that bubble will burst during your first performance review. You’ll be told that the brand you were assured would be properly managed will eventually have a parachuted-in manager. A bubble is still a bubble; once you join, you’ll see the truth~
If the group has an event, you may need to provide support (if it falls on a holiday, you’ll receive a compensatory day off; if you want to exchange it for payment, a senior executive must sign off). Senior executives will ask mid-level managers to come down and persuade you (the unspoken rule is that getting payment instead is difficult; colleagues are accustomed to it even without saying so).
In summary, internal turnover is truly high. Having a good manager is important, and being in a good department is even more important. Best wishes to the warriors heading to Leofoo!

The company’s turnover is extremely high! Senior executives only like to hear flattering words and are experts at sycophancy. The organizational division of responsibilities in the retail e-commerce unit is chaotic. The managers are unprofessional enough as it is, yet they also bring in acquaintances and put them in managerial positions. A group of managers love to shirk and pass the buck, pushing all the physically and mentally demanding work onto their subordinates while enjoying the benefits themselves and deceiving those above and below them. They are completely incapable of helping colleagues solve work-related problems. All I can say is that it is very difficult for genuinely professional people who sincerely want to get things done to survive there. A group of nonprofessionals are leading professionals; working there only leaves you mentally exhausted and feeling that your time has been wasted.

The HR department at The Westin Taipei will violate the Labor Standards Act by removing employees from labor insurance when they take medical leave. If you plan to join this company, be aware of this issue; otherwise, they may remove you from the insurance without your consent, which could affect your rights and benefits.

At the inn’s morning shift, a bunch of long-time employees slack off and are impossible to get moving. Even when they’re short-staffed, they don’t hire replacements, leaving you to work yourself to death. They may also tell you to leave early, causing you to accumulate negative hours; once you reach 8 hours, they deduct from your leave and make you come back to work to offset the negative hours. Definitely do not take the morning shift.
Wasn't The Westin Taipei reportedly closing down?
Why are they still hiring? https://money.udn.com/money/story/5612/3079762

The day after submitting my résumé, I received a phone call trying to sell me a membership card..........
Moreover, I had never even made a purchase from the Leofoo Group, which made me feel that this was fake recruitment used to steal personal information.
I had pleasant conversations during both stages with Department Head A and Department Head B.
But when it came to HR at the end, I thought we would be discussing salary, but instead she asked me all the same questions again. Oh my God! I had already explained them three times. That would have been one thing, but she isn't a professional in our field and kept going in circles, nitpicking and asking why, why, why. This field is something we learn through our bachelor's and master's degrees and several years of work experience—was I really supposed to explain it all clearly in one go? I just felt that she was deliberately making things difficult for applicants.
She said that she is in charge of HR for the entire group and conducts all the interviews everywhere. With such a petty and narrow-minded attitude, no wonder the website is constantly advertising vacancies.

Courtyard by Marriott Taipei Nangang is basically a sweatshop. They don’t pay overtime or provide compensatory leave. HR will provide overtime adjustment forms, but if the supervisor doesn’t approve overtime or compensatory leave, there’s nothing that can be done. Once HR receives the forms, they directly adjust the hours to regular working hours. It’s terrible—my body became ill from exhaustion. Think carefully before joining! The employee turnover is extremely high. On my first day, two colleagues in the department were already processing their resignations. I was completely stunned.
The colleagues I’ve encountered so far are all easy to get along with.
The pay is low, and there are no raises.
You have to accommodate the company’s needs: work when there are many tourists, and leave when there are few tourists.
Now, if your accumulated hours exceed 80, they deduct it from your pay. So may I ask, what’s the point of accommodating the company by adjusting your working hours?
Or should I just ignore your labor costs and have everyone obediently work eight hours a day, completing the required number of hours each month?
The year-end bonus is only half a month’s salary—I was completely dumbfounded when I saw it.
Promotion? There’s absolutely no hope. The company only paints a grand picture for you to look at but never actually enjoy.
Everything has to be cut back on: saving small amounts while spending big amounts. I completely cannot understand this mindset.
Everything is “the customer comes first”; Taiwanese entitled customers are nurtured and allowed to flourish here.
The pay is so low it makes you want to cry. You could report it to the tax authorities. The working hours aren't illegal because the company plays word games with you. All the supervisors and managers are parachuted in. Before starting work, you have to sign first. What does “excessive hours” even mean? The company sets the working hours afterward. Everyone who has worked there says it’s great. There are lots of people who collect a salary without doing any work, and lots of air-conditioned-office staff who look down on part-timers. Lots of people in the product x department don't issue invoices! Lots of people selling fried chicken cutlets and hot dogs don't issue invoices and pocket the money? Lots of people leading ponies and camels don't issue invoices and pocket the money. The shift leaders know about this but don't stop it—they join in and help divide the proceeds. Why do so many people keep working there for less than NT$23,000 a month? It’s not because the boss loves you; it’s because you have power. You take advantage of part-timers, and you even pocket the xo. I hope upper management investigates this thoroughly. What’s with all the scrapped products? I don’t understand how even Coca-Cola can be written off.
