Pros

1. Any New Year gift boxes the boss receives that contain desserts are shared with the employees.

2. There used to be two bosses, so we had to deal with two Scorpio bosses at the same time. Sometimes they would even argue and fight over power. Now the female boss has parted ways with the company and left.

3. The boss supports Taiwan independence and is not pro-China—politically correct.

Cons

1. The turnover rate is high; people do not stay long.

2. The boss says she is a curator, but in reality she came from the media industry’s third-largest military-affiliated outlet as a reporter. She does not understand curating or fashion at all and has no curator connections whatsoever.

3. Employees work overtime because one person is doing three people’s jobs.

4. The boss was born in 1961 and likes to manage through monarchical rule, but the turnover rate is so high that there is effectively no mid-level management. New hires who have just joined the company have a very difficult time.

5. The boss supports Taiwan independence and used to win projects through connections in government circles. After the reshuffling of the public sector, those connections disappeared. Whatever proposals she writes, she loses; all that remains is picking up projects that no one else bids for.

6. The boss has a dream of being the editor-in-chief of a print magazine. She started a magazine that no one buys, yet despite this lofty dream, hired only one designer, who is also required to handle the event department’s government-project designs.

7. What is euphemistically called a celebration banquet is actually a banquet for entertaining officials, with employees ordered to provide company.

8. The company has owed vendors payment for more than three months. It also unilaterally postpones the transfer date without notifying them, and only finds out when the vendors call to curse them out.

Pros

They make things sound very good during interviews, but they mainly take on a large number of government contracts. After joining, there are also situations such as workplace bullying by colleagues.

Cons

There are problems almost everywhere. The turnover rate is very high, and it is not suitable for fresh graduates. They often lay people off and say it is the employees’ fault, when the workload is clearly too heavy. It is not suitable to come here as an editor.

Pros

1. Every month, you can freely buy the snacks you want for worship offerings.

2. Free coffee machine and Starbucks coffee.

3. Flexible start time: 9:30–9:45.

4. For overtime, you can freely choose between overtime pay and compensatory leave.

5. Year-end and three seasonal bonuses.

6. The company culture is fairly relaxed, and colleagues get along well.

7. The office has relatively new furnishings, and the environment is quite good.

8. The work in both the magazine and events departments is fairly interesting, making it suitable for people who enjoy the arts and culture industry.

Cons

1. Overtime must be requested in advance and approved by a supervisor.

2. Don’t expect your supervisor to guide you; you need to be highly independent and know what you need to do.

3. Upper management is not very good at managing employees, so turnover is high.

4. Suitable for people with work experience or those who can persuade their supervisors.

5. Although it is an established company, its overall systems and procedures are not very well developed.

6. Upper management can be emotional and frequently change their decisions, although personally, I think many bosses have this problem.

7. Due to the lack of management systems, work may occasionally be distributed unevenly or the workload may suddenly increase significantly.

8. New graduates who are not good at expressing themselves or lack experience may not be a good fit and may have a harder time, because basically no one will teach you how to do the work.

Pros

Convenient commute

Cons

1

His title is “Internationally renowned master curator of cultural and creative exhibitions,” and he considers himself a cultural figure. You can look up the writings he has authored and the exhibitions he has curated (if any). After browsing what he has done over the past few years, it is basically forums, forums, forums, press conferences, award ceremonies, and openings.

2

He is constantly looking for young people to collaborate with, and there have also been frequent instances of him getting free proposals and designs out of them. He does not respect the creativity and professionalism of young teams, saying he cannot understand their work and that their stuff is very low-end.

3

He gets furious whenever employees bring up overtime pay or year-end bonuses, and the turnover is astonishing. Employees leave one after another because they cannot take it anymore, yet he still wants to save face and publicly claims that he fired them all :)

Pros

The company has been newly renovated.

Cons

01. The employee turnover is extremely high—on average, one person leaves every month—so the working environment is highly unstable.

02. The boss very much enjoys harassing female employees. At first, he repeatedly sends overly “friendly” messages, followed later by intentional or seemingly accidental physical contact. After comparing notes with many affected employees, we identified his standard line: “I treat you better than anyone else in the company. Don’t tell anyone.”

03. He likes hiring female employees with no relevant experience. On the surface, he says he wants the magazine to embrace a diverse, cross-disciplinary concept, but in reality he is simply choosing people as if selecting concubines. Oh, and there’s more! People with no experience are easier to deceive.

04. Following from the previous point, when you join, there will be no experienced staff to train you. The boss also knows nothing and does not understand even basic editorial work. Even if there is an experienced employee, believe me, they are already looking at job listings on 104.

05. The editorial department provides neither overtime pay nor compensatory time off. The boss says this is the “height” of being a media professional, while he himself leaves before 6 p.m.

06. When an editor resigns, the company tries not to fill the vacancy, making you work yourself to death. Working overtime until the early hours of the morning is routine.

07. After work, you are often called to the boss’s drinking gatherings. Put nicely, it is to help you expand your network; put bluntly, you are there to pour drinks.

08. There is no reward for achievements, and every mistake is punished. Whenever someone says something good about the magazine, he posts it on Facebook to show how broad-minded he is, but he never tells employees “good job” or “thank you for your hard work.” If you make a mistake, watch out for being sued by the boss.

09. You have to endure his constant claims that he is a genius (he genuinely believes it).

10. He will pressure you to add him on Facebook and become one of his die-hard fans (if you do not like his posts, he will remember it).

11. He has very little respect for professional expertise, and employees must take on multiple roles. The art staff also have to handle photography, while editors must also do marketing and sales.

12. He is very friendly to newly hired employees. Later, you will learn what “time reveals a person’s true nature” means.

13. Whatever prospects they offer you are all bullshit.

14. Even after ten years in business, the company still has virtually no systems—or rather, everything keeps changing according to the boss’s mood.

15. There are many meaningless meetings that waste everyone’s time, held solely to fill the boss’s idle hours.

16. The boss is a perfect embodiment of “a man who has nothing but a mouth”: he has no concrete achievements whatsoever.

17. The company is extremely poor at handling crises. It cares only about saving face, not solving the problem, and the result is a complete mess.

18. The female supervisor (vice president) is somewhat more capable than the boss, but she does not understand how the world works. For example, she will demand that employees do things that are clearly impossible. She is quite willful.

19. The entire company is the textbook example of “fine jade on the outside, rotten cotton within,” with absurdity added on top.

20. Don’t joke around with your career.

P.S. Youth is not meant to be wasted here.

Pros

Other than getting snacks at the company’s worship ceremonies, I can’t think of any other advantages.

Cons

Terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible. In recent years, you could count on one hand the number of people who have stayed for more than a year. Don’t believe the rosy picture they paint during interviews.

Pros

Colleagues are easy to get along with and not scheming (but there are pitifully few former employees who stayed).

Cons

The company has no system. Even though you were hired for position A, you’ll be told to do position B because of a staff shortage, while still having to complete the work for position A. I really don’t understand why they bother having separate positions.

Both bosses readily accept unreasonable demands from clients, but only criticize employees internally and demand that employees squeeze suppliers. When you first join the company, you’ll feel that the bosses treat you very well, but after a while, it’s completely different. They basically give you candy first and poison afterward.

After joining, you’ll discover that the projects you work on differ from what was described in the interview. You’re always organizing forums, inviting speakers, hosting banquets, and holding press conferences—forums, speakers, banquets, and press conferences over and over again. Even when there is exhibition-related work, it’s all about branding. It’s basically a PR company, yet the bosses keep insisting that it’s a cultural and creative company.

What they say externally sounds impressive, but most of it is 90% inflated and exaggerated! Even the most capable people will eventually be unable to take it. The promised performance bonuses are all just empty promises. Before resigning, you’ll feel like disposable tableware—utterly disheartened.

If you’re considering joining, think it through carefully. Don’t joke around with your own career.

Pros

You get to handle projects for cultural affairs bureaus or the cultural and creative industries, and some of the projects are quite interesting.

Cons

The male boss is a pervert, a pervert, a pervert. Pretty girls should be careful.

The female supervisor is capable, but extremely emotional and often loses it.

Overall, the company is pretty disorganized, with very few systems and rather chaotic management.

To save money, the boss sometimes makes you do tasks that should be outsourced. The working hours are extremely long, so be mentally prepared.
