No advantages
The Hukou branch is unbelievably bad. The top-level managers do not care about what happens below them. The attitude of the managers at this company is basically: as long as nobody dies and they do not fail to make money, that is good enough; beyond that, they do not care what happens to you. There is a lot of pointless trouble caused by an engineer (Huang). For new hires, what they learn is inevitably taught by the senior employees. Even when a certain way clearly does not work, they insist on making people do it their way. If you refuse, they make life difficult for you. To be honest, I am very self-disciplined. Since I was new and did not understand many things, I was always polite to everyone, whether senior employees or supervisors. I humbly accepted the guidance of the senior employees and did not want to cause trouble for myself, but for no apparent reason, Huang would scold me. I could not figure out how I had offended him. If he was in a bad mood or had been scolded on another production line, he would come to our line and take it out on the new hires. He was also very strange in that he would not go after the senior employees; he only picked on us new hires and scolded us loudly and rudely in front of everyone, humiliating us. He was completely convinced that he was right. Later, after realizing that he was the one who had been wrong, he would not even say sorry—just acting as if it were our fault and as if we were to blame for happening to be standing in front of him—even though we had not done anything wrong! Just because he overheard one of the new hires saying something about a senior employee too loudly, he said that we new hires were like a toilet, coming and going in a rush, and scolded all of us. I just want to ask: what did any of this have to do with us? From that point on, we new hires became suspicious and anxious every day, constantly afraid that he would see us make a mistake. In fact, the pressure on us was enormous. We were afraid that if we did not learn quickly enough, we might suddenly be fired. I never expected Huang to become even more outrageous. It would be strange if new hires stayed under treatment like this. No wonder they are always hiring. I heard that Huang handles some orders, but if he has an issue, he should first go to the shift leader, who should then contact the people below. Instead, he likes to bypass the chain of command and manage ordinary production-line operators directly. So anyone considering coming here should be mentally prepared: Huang may single you out from time to time, and you will need a strong heart—and be prepared to get scolded.
This company has no such thing as overtime pay, and there are no bonuses for the three major holidays. Overtime can only be exchanged for annual leave. To be honest, everyone goes there to make money, yet they keep telling people to take time off without paying them. Who would want to work under those conditions? The pay is only the basic minimum wage required by labor law—terrible! And it is just minimum wage. So when the staffing agency advertises a salary of over 48,000, it is all fake. Do not be fooled, because there is no overtime pay, so no matter how hard you work or how much overtime you do, you will never reach 48,000. I advise everyone not to foolishly apply.
The advantages depend on the work location. At the place where I worked, overtime was optional, and regular working hours were 8 hours.
During the interview, I met with the supervisor. The recruiter was quite good and explained everything in great detail.
However, the HR representative acted as if they were superior to everyone else, which was very uncomfortable.
The work environment was very strange. Some longtime employees seemed to bully newcomers, and there were also posters at the workplace displaying a complaint hotline.
Unfortunately, I actually encountered this myself. I was quietly doing my job when someone suddenly started verbally abusing and provoking me at work. Since everyone wears cleanroom suits, it was impossible to tell who it was.
There was no camera footage to support filing a lawsuit. If you think you’re lucky, you can go see for yourself.

HR is very courteous to applicants, and the document review is also very thorough. The first interview round includes a basic English test (10 multiple-choice questions) and basic mathematics. As long as you have an intermediate TOEIC level and university-level math skills, there should not be much difficulty. The second round is an interview with the hiring manager, who is very courteous. The questions concern your understanding of the position you are applying for and your expectations for the job. As long as you do your homework before coming to the interview, there is basically not much pressure.
Parking nearby is not easy, so it is recommended that you arrive at the company half an hour early to avoid being late and leaving a bad impression.

I would not recommend working here, especially on the third floor of the Coatings Department at the Hukou Branch. The leaders on the morning shift there are too lazy, show favoritism, and lie. Most importantly, they are like parasites in high positions—all of them are Taiwanese. They are unfair and unprofessional.

A whole lot—really far too much. I worked in integration at the Guishan plant, and all I can say is that the manager is really incompetent, an old lecher. When young women join, they don't know a damn thing but get paid a high salary, and they aren't assigned any work??? I had a bunch of projects and stupid reports to handle. The things I was working on in my second week weren't handed over to her until I was about to leave (she had already been there for almost three months by then, and was only doing what I had been doing in my second week??). Then all the projects assigned to me were dumped on a senior colleague to handle?? What a joke. I've never seen such a dysfunctional company. Outsourced analysis costing more than NT$2,000 has to be reported all the way to the chairman??? Even asking a school unit to conduct an analysis requires separate invoices because getting the chairman's signature is too much trouble? What a joke. The year-end bonus isn't even one month’s salary. What kind of lousy company is this? So many people submit their resignations, and then the company offers them promotions and raises to retain them. Just how terrible does a company have to be to resort to that to retain people? You can find a job at pretty much any company that pays more than this dogshit company. When they heard I was leaving, the manager only then wanted to offer me an extra NT$2,000 to stay? Why not take that NT$2,000 and go use it to shoo away a dog? I had a bunch of projects the moment I joined, and had to make calls to learn all sorts of things about the machines as well as communicate with vendors. The young women just sat around spacing out after joining, yet got paid more. Fuck you, trash manager. Trash company.
Unexpectedly, all the advantages are actually disadvantages........
Employee turnover is very high. I haven't been here long, and I already want to quit.
From my very first day, I felt that there was a reason so many people leave.
First of all, there are absolutely no SOPs.
When it comes to doing the work, you have to rely entirely on senior employees' explanations and instructions.
Also, basically, people either teach you half-heartedly or don't teach you at all.
Otherwise, some of them are really unpleasant and completely ignore newcomers.
The company provides meals, but they are very difficult to eat. Employees have NT$10 deducted for each meal, while the company pays NT$50.
Many people would rather order food from outside.
But someone like me, who doesn't have much money, can't afford to spend money ordering outside food.
I can only make do with the company meals.
The job often requires physical exertion, climbing onto machines, and dismantling and modifying them.
When there is nothing to do, it is very idle, but when there is work, it is truly exhausting...
The salary is truly pitifully low.
The engineer (female) who was transferred from the day shift to the night shift spends every day looking for where there is contamination. When asked to teach others, she says she doesn’t know how. What kind of engineer is she—a two-faced person? She only targets a certain department. Everyone at this company is selfish.
People’s problems cannot be changed.
None!
This company basically doesn’t manage anything. If the plant manager they hired is unsuitable, the company should bear the losses itself or cut its losses quickly and let him go. Instead, the production line is frequently unable to operate properly, while we are still pressured to deliver results! It’s really exhausting. I’d rather leave and let you play your own games!
Pros: The salary and benefits are not at the very bottom, I guess.
It has already been over two years since I worked at this company.
But even after all this time, I still feel like coming back to comment on this company.
Half a hell. As one of the first employees at the newly opened plant, I was responsible for working 15–16 hours of overtime every day (even when it exceeded 12 hours, there was no overtime pay, yet everyone still worked together).
The worst thing was that my coworkers were all scheming and trying to undermine others. After staying for more than half a year, I was ultimately still forced out by my coworkers.
The supervisors also had no time to manage the production line, leaving the senior employees who thought they were capable of managing it to do whatever they wanted.
No matter how well you performed, your supervisor might not even know. Instead, it depended on whether the senior employees who had already won the supervisor’s favor were interested in saying good things about you.
If a senior employee wanted to drive someone out, they could drive them out. The few departments that were most short-staffed were all impossible to stay in—unless you were extremely scheming. If you were confident you could outmaneuver the others, you might barely be able to keep working there. But do you really have to suffer that much just to find a job?
There are no advantages whatsoever, except that the colleagues are easy to get along with.
1. There was no bonus at all in 2019. It was originally supposed to be paid in October, but in 2018 it was not paid until December 31; in 2019, they simply stopped paying it.
2. For the 2019 year-end bonus, direct employees received only 0.5 months' salary (those rated C or below received no year-end bonus), while indirect employees received 0.675 months' salary (and it was paid in two installments: half in January and the other half in June). It was really a rip-off.
3. Dispatched employees are treated as if they are not people. When there are orders, a large number of people are hired; when there are no orders, they are all dismissed at the end of the year.
4. The 2020 year-end banquet was simply canceled. The company originally said it would hold a spring banquet after the Lunar New Year, but then used the Wuhan coronavirus as an excuse and canceled that as well. The boss is really good at saving money. Originally, each person would receive at least NT$1,000 as an attendance prize, but now the event is not held at all, so they save all of that money.
Conclusion: Mr. Peng, the CEO of Platinum, is very good at saving money. I suspect the money saved all ends up in their pockets (the various shareholders and senior executives). The company does not publish financial statements every year. Every year toward the end of the year, the company cries poor and says there are no orders; year-end bonuses and dividends getting smaller and smaller has become the norm.
There is also no money for employees, yet they keep expanding with new plants. They previously had the Suzhou plant in mainland China, and last year they built a plant in Wuxi. They keep building new plants despite having no money—really great.
Final conclusion: The boss of Platinum is really great.
There are no advantages at all
At the beginning, everyone comes in as a temp worker.
Whether you become permanent depends on your performance, but what the hell does “performance” even mean?
No matter how well you do, if they think you’re no good, then you’re no good.
They’ll just kick you out directly.
They don’t even give you severance pay, because you’re a damn temp worker.
Who goes to an interview themselves only to end up in a temp position?
Become permanent? What a load of bullshit.
The environment is quiet and peaceful
First, let me talk about the resignation process: it’s troublesome and tedious, and you also have to run back and forth.
This company requires a physical examination, which it will fully subsidize, but if you get kicked out, one examination is wasted.
It’s a foreign-worker concentration camp. At the cafeteria, only rice and soup are free; for other dishes, you’re limited to scooping main courses, and there are even quantity restrictions. They also deduct the meal costs from your salary.
Recently, my friends have been kicked out one after another. They were all hired into the same department, and were kicked out after working for just two weeks. It feels like they treat people as disposable chopsticks: hiring when they’re busy and kicking people out when they’re not.
You even have to make a special trip to another building to eat, and they only give you thirty minutes for lunch. The round trip alone is already very rushed.
You’re given ten minutes of break time, but taking your cleanroom suit on and off already takes nearly two minutes, and going to the restroom takes three minutes each way. Basically, you don’t get any real break at all.
They’re stingy even with break time. No wonder there are only foreign workers.
There are so few Taiwanese people at this company that it’s pitiful; you’re surrounded by foreign languages in every direction, so be mentally prepared.
If the keywords say “a major smartphone filter manufacturer, Linkou Huaya, eight scheduled days off,” nine times out of ten it will be this company. Please be careful.
Also, experienced workers always get priority when choosing preferred days off, and it’s only the new workers’ turn at the end.
According to what my friends have been saying one after another, the supervisor on the third floor has very high standards. Some experienced workers target newcomers’ work. If they notice that any detail wasn’t done properly, they report it to the supervisor, and you’ll be watched all day. If the supervisor keeps their eyes on you all day and even repeatedly walks around near you, you can consider resigning. It means they’re preparing to kick you out.
The environment is good, that’s all.
Even Taiwanese people can’t stand working here, so they have to rely on foreign workers; foreign workers are everywhere.
Newcomers, please stay on your toes and be careful. Keep any thoughts bottled up and don’t reveal them to anyone, including your colleagues, because they will tell the supervisor the very next second.
Some long-time employees bully newcomers and nitpick.
Being kicked out after working for two or three weeks over a minor matter was really unpleasant.
This really isn’t a good choice. Newcomers, please think carefully.
...........No
so I ended up at rock bottom!!
Very lousy.
They use dispatched workers, and if they say you're unsuitable, you're immediately dismissed.
You don't even get severance pay.
This really is a terrible company.
Everyone, stop going to work for this company.
Absolutely terrible.
Let this company in Hsinchu go under!!
I don't know........
Overtime is listed on the schedule, but I don't want to work overtime
Because it's a day off, overtime comes with overtime pay, but I still don't want to go in for overtime RR
I'd rather rest at home
The overtime request might even be rejected... I'm done
You still have to apply for overtime yourself—what a hassle.......
The coworkers are easy to get along with.
The job requires standing for long periods, which makes your feet sore, and the noise is quite loud.
You may come into contact with chemicals, so you have to be very careful.
You must wear protective equipment to avoid danger.
The pay is not very high, either.
The work schedule is two days on and two days off, with 12-hour shifts.
And then, the restaurant....... Personally, I think it’s terrible.
There’s no air conditioning.
There are only fans.
And the meal portions are often not large enough.
I don’t understand what the company’s policies are~~
Also, after work, they check whether you have taken any company property out in your vehicle.
It makes the employees seem like thieves.
