4. Recently, because the chairman ordered it, employees have been kept after work for meetings, which are categorically not counted as overtime, seriously affecting workers’ rights.

5. Insufficient overtime hours result in dismissal.

1. Never believe HR when they guarantee you a minimum salary of 14 months, because this company often deducts from the annual salaries of entry-level employees when revenue is poor (according to reliable information, annual salaries have been under two months’ pay for two consecutive years), while the management actually responsible for company policy has had very little deducted.

2. Employees at the rank of assistant engineer and above are all forced to rotate through morning, evening, and holiday shifts. They are given only meager allowances as compensation, and the company does not follow the regulations stipulated in the Labor Standards Act. The work performed during these shifts consists of serving as a security guard to patrol the factory and standing at the entrance to search employees for prohibited items. If someone is caught failing to conduct a proper inspection, they will receive a minor disciplinary demerit that affects their performance evaluation.

3. Finally, some advice for alternative service draftees assigned to research and development:

The entry-level units of the various departments at this company are basically staffed by R&D alternative service draftees. Why do I say this? If Department A is short-staffed, an R&D alternative service draftee may be transferred from Department B to perform work completely unrelated to their original department. Therefore, never assume that after joining the company you will be doing the same work discussed and agreed upon during the interview. This absolutely does not apply to R&D alternative service draftees!!

This company is not very suitable for recent graduates, for several reasons:

1. You will be assigned a project soon after joining the company. When you encounter problems, you can only rely on yourself—don’t expect a senior colleague to work alongside you. If the project succeeds, you are a hero; if it fails, you are blamed. As a recent graduate, it is easy to be overwhelmed.

2. The company lacks internal experience in developing new products. When problems arise during development, managers often do not know how to proceed either. They simply ask you to look at what competitors are doing. As a recent graduate, it is easy to lose sight of the development direction.

3. The company lacks a rigorous internal development process. Engineers often decide for themselves when each stage begins and ends, only to discover at the final closing that various things have been missed. As a recent graduate, it is easy to become confused about the importance of the new-product development process.

4. Some projects do not have a project manager, so engineers often take on this responsibility themselves. This can lead to issues involving cross-departmental coordination, communication, and specifications. As a recent graduate, you will constantly run into obstacles when executing projects (of course… no senior colleague will work alongside you).

A company that violates the Labor Standards Act and provides poor employee benefits is not suitable for long-term development.

HR will not tell you:

1. Illegal forced shifts: Assistant engineers and above take turns working morning, evening, and Sunday shifts, effectively serving as security guards at the entrance. None of this counts as overtime.

2. Withholding overtime pay: Management positions at team-lead level and above, as well as engineers at certain grades and above, are not allowed to apply for overtime pay. Only after working more than 4 hours of overtime can they report it for compensatory leave.

3. Forcing you to give up your days off: Six or more times a year, employees are forced to participate in “Knowledge Growth Days” on Saturdays. This does not count as overtime, and your bonus is docked if you do not attend. You must also clock in at the company sports day.

4. It is not just about ability—you also need to be willing to slave away: Promotion opportunities are tied to the number of overtime hours worked. The company schedules all important weekly meetings in the evening, effectively forcing employees to work overtime.

5. Management has no concept of being accountable for revenue: Business performance was poor last year, but management’s year-end bonus percentage was barely reduced, while the bonuses of the frontline employees who actually do the work were slashed drastically.
