Pros

Before the interview, you need to take a logic test. The questions are reasonably designed and can distinguish between different levels of ability, unlike at some companies where everyone gets a perfect score as soon as they finish. The HR representative was friendly and asked thoughtful questions; the supervisor seriously sought to understand my experience and project details, so answering honestly is all that is needed. HR also clarified old rumors online: morning exercises and factory patrols have been discontinued. The only thing to note is the information security policy: mobile phones cannot be brought into the factory, but smartwatches are allowed. Overall, I had a positive impression, and the process was professional.

Cons

The company is relatively far away, so the commute takes longer, but this depends on the individual. I prefer to keep at least a 15-minute distance between my workplace and home to avoid constantly thinking about work.

The environment and benefits are not as good as those at semiconductor wafer fabs and are relatively less upscale; however, it is considered quite good within Taichung’s machinery industry, and the working style suits my current lifestyle.

The information security regulations are strict, and mobile phones cannot be brought into the factory. However, if you are accustomed to using a smartwatch, the impact is not significant.

Pros

During the video interview, the manager seemed very reasonable.

Cons

1. The standard application form requires family members’ information (age, job, and position).

2. You have to arrive early for morning exercises.

3. You cannot bring your phone; if you leave it with security, there is a limit on the number of times you can do so.

4. If you drive to work, you have to pay for parking.

5. There may be mandatory classes on Saturdays.

6. The pay is low.

Pros

The company pays according to the rules.

Cons

If you end up in the R&D Orders (Drafting) team, congratulations—the hell train is departing. The first six months will be your happiest time.

In the second half of the year, you’ll really want to resign. After working there for a year, you’ll regret not beating yourself up for coming to the interview in the first place.

After reading the content below, think carefully about whether you really want to join!!!! Otherwise, they’re constantly replacing people and having to retrain everyone is exhausting!!!!!

There’s endless overtime every day. The pressure is deadly, and getting home at 8–9 p.m. is the norm.

R&D? Don’t even mention it. It’s mostly just modifying existing drawings. How many projects actually require drawing something from scratch~?

The supervisor’s drafting skills are worse than yours, so take care of yourself. Basically, everything will be completed by the lower- and mid-level staff, while the upper management is competing to see who can slack off the most~ So everything they don’t want to do gets dumped on the rookies~~ And those suffering disposable chopsticks get replaced every year. Pathetic.

This is also why the company’s turnover rate remains so high.

Then there’s the serious office politics~ Every day, you have to put on a mask and build a good relationship with your supervisor. You also have to attend all kinds of pointless gatherings, flatter your supervisor, and laugh along with their jokes. Honestly, I’m already exhausted. I want to resign, but I don’t even have the energy to look for another job~~~ Sigh.

Huh~? You’re asking about the job duties?

Everyone has endless drawings to create and review every day.

Endless overtime~ Working until 8–9 p.m. every day is the norm, with more than 30 hours of overtime each month~ (Recently, the pandemic has reduced it by just a tiny bit.)

The highest drafting quality must be followed, okayyyyy~~~ So your drawings have to be “perfect,” like they were printed by a computer—you can’t make any mistakes~

There are tons of company specifications for you to memorize, and you also have to memorize the drafting rules. Have them engraved in your brain, and don’t make mistakes~!!!

If you’re firmly committed to being exploited and have strong stress tolerance~ then come on over~

But don’t come just because you want to make money quickly. You’ll regret it.

You’d better think carefully and ask everything clearly during the interview, or you’ll regret stepping into this pit.

By the way~ During working hours, the entire factory [prohibits] using phones and browsing the external internet to relax~~~

Oh right, there’s also what they mentioned below~ (It’s currently suspended, but may resume later): At the monthly morning meeting, you have to recite the company credo~ a shameful spectacle, plus morning exercises and so on~

If you’re a man, just treat it like serving in the military~ If you’re a woman, it’s a little better; you’ll receive more attention and preferential treatment at work. That’s about it~

Pros

Slightly better benefits

Cons

This is a company that shows little sincerity and seriously invades personal privacy. During the interview, you must provide detailed information about your ancestors going back 18 generations, your past medical records (with authorization to access them), whether you have loans or lawsuits, and even the requirements for physical examinations. Everything must be explained very clearly. Compared with other companies, this company's requirements are even more fine-grained than screw threads—truly nitpicky and deliberately difficult. They are not looking at people's strengths when hiring, but at their shortcomings. You cannot even bring 3C devices into the workplace, and human rights protections are extremely weak.

Pros

1. Attending classes on holidays, gaining extensive knowledge

2. Fighting monsters and leveling up, rising step by step

3. R&D energy, flowing endlessly

4. Plant inspection system, praised by everyone

5. Holiday duty, earning wholehearted acceptance

6. Inspecting the plant at midnight, ghosts everywhere

7. Production and manufacturing, overseas talent

8. Production management, strongly supported

9. Quality assurance, always taking responsibility for mistakes

10. On-site management, full of momentum

11. Improvement proposals, advancing the company

None of the above 11 points exist at all, none of the above 11 points exist at all, none of the above 11 points exist at all—because it is important, it is said three times

Cons

1. Turning our own people against each other

2. Looking only at academic qualifications and not experience

3. A great place for R&D substitutes to be treated as disposable

4. A great place to use training as a stepping stone

5. You cannot say what you want to say and can only suppress it in your heart

6. Just like serving in the military, you cannot tell the truth

7. Just like serving in the military, with militarized management

8. The lower your job grade, the more you are looked down on—even assistants look down on you

9. Direct employees are pitiful: exploitation and suppression → resignation

10. You want to sleep in on holidays, but you have to come to class

Some people will encounter some of the above 10 points, while others will not~ Of course, we cannot generalize~ But these are all things that have really happened~

Will articles be deleted here?? A well-written one was deleted?? Is this place also so dark?? Bought off by corporations?? Ha

Pros

This place is actually quite good; it isn’t as serious as described online.

I used to work at this company. For newcomers just entering the workforce, it is worth considering. As long as you are willing to work hard, work three shifts, and work overtime, earning NT$40,000–50,000 per month is not a problem. The year-end bonus basically reaches the industry standard. If you work in R&D, the salary is also very generous. Daye also received the Ministry of the Interior’s National Conscription Agency award for being an outstanding employer under the Alternative Service R&D Substitute Service program in Years 99, 101, 103, and 104. Speaking from experience, HIWIN is a traditional manufacturing company! For a traditional manufacturing company, it is considered pretty good...

If you want better benefits, a technology company would be a better choice!

Advantages

1. Childcare allowance for two years

2. A friendly workplace; healthy Daye

3. Operating profit sharing

4. Year-end bonus, professional bonus, and shift allowance (better than the industry standard)

5. Patent bonuses, project bonuses, and product sales bonuses

6. Domestic and overseas trade-show visits and exhibitions (overseas trade-show visits require signing a contract with the company and serving for six months to one year; in the event of a breach, the amount must be repaid proportionally)

7. Salaries higher than the industry standard

8. If you work overtime until 7:00 p.m., you can receive free food (2 steamed buns or 2 pan-fried buns or 1 millet cake)

9. If you work overtime until 8:00 p.m., you can order a free boxed meal

10. Bonuses for the three major festivals—gift vouchers

11. Birthday gift—gift voucher

12. Employee movie sessions

13. A comprehensive promotion system

14. Professional training courses are arranged on weekdays, with instructors from the industry hired to teach

Cons

Disadvantages

1. A monthly all-hands meeting is held. Employees must clock in and assemble at 08:08; those who are late are fined NT$200.

2. The scheduled start time is 08:30, but employees must clock in at 08:20 to do the exercise routine; arriving later is considered tardy.

4. Employees must lead the exercise routine in rotation. Afterward, everyone must assemble at attention and chant: “Professional standards; enthusiasm for work; professional ethics.”

5. There are six Knowledge Growth Days per year (classes on Saturdays). They can be scheduled independently; in principle, completing all six is sufficient.

9. New employees must be mobilized to travel north to attend the master’s thesis award ceremony (NT$100 meal allowance) (held once a year, twice in total; leave may be requested) (Saturday)

Pros

The largest vocational training center in central Taiwan.

After leaving successfully, you get the feeling that the benefits are excellent wherever you go.

Cons

Unspoken rule 1:

Meetings of all sizes are almost always held at night, and then

meeting time cannot count as overtime, meeting time cannot count as overtime, meeting time cannot count as overtime.

Unspoken rule 2:

Various security guard duties: I’ve heard that at facilities with few employees, everyone has to patrol as a security guard once or twice a month.

Being late or absent, regardless of the reason, basically means losing the fixed bonus and then having part of the year-end bonus deducted.

Unspoken rule 3:

Several times a year, employees are forced to come to the company on holidays to attend all kinds of inexplicable classes; if you don’t come, part of the year-end bonus is deducted again.

Pros

The largest vocational training center in central Taiwan—a great place to hone your skills during alternative military service.

If you train hard enough at Dayin while keeping a low profile, you may even get headhunted for a high-paying job.

Cons

Generally speaking, there is already a lot of information about this on the forum, so I’ll offer some points that are slightly different.

1. For two consecutive years, the company’s poor operating performance has resulted in everyone’s year-end bonuses being downgraded.

I heard that the average year-end bonus on the production line is less than NT$10,000, while R&D staff get only about 0.7 months’ salary.

Not to mention that performance bonuses have not been paid for a year; even the most recent payment was pitifully small.

2. Employees above a certain grade are forced to stand guard (morning, afternoon, and night shifts), watching over the factory and patrolling the premises.

They are given only a small amount of money, operating in a gray area of the Labor Standards Act. Once you are scheduled for duty, you have no excuse even if you get sick, and you cannot be late. At best, you receive two reprimands; at worst, a minor demerit or a major demerit.

3. The company emphasizes information security, but it does not have the money to buy good systems and purchased a half-finished product instead. It is constantly locking employees out of their own files, and files are often lost.

4. Recently, because the chairman ordered it, employees have been kept after work for meetings, which are categorically not counted as overtime, seriously affecting workers’ rights.

5. Insufficient overtime hours result in dismissal.

6. You have absolute and considerable control over projects because colleagues senior to you quickly resign—very quickly, until they are all gone. I heard that one department lost half its staff within a year; afterward, the company brought in large numbers of alternative-service personnel as disposable labor.

7. The company places great emphasis on employees’ moral education. Even traffic-law violations committed outside the company can be used as grounds for giving you two reprimands. It’s absolutely insane.

8. The company is very afraid of employees resigning and is unusually obsessed with proof-of-employment certificates (if they do not want to issue one, they simply refuse).

Pros

1. Never believe HR when they guarantee you a minimum salary of 14 months, because this company often deducts from the annual salaries of entry-level employees when revenue is poor (according to reliable information, annual salaries have been under two months’ pay for two consecutive years), while the management actually responsible for company policy has had very little deducted.

2. Employees at the rank of assistant engineer and above are all forced to rotate through morning, evening, and holiday shifts. They are given only meager allowances as compensation, and the company does not follow the regulations stipulated in the Labor Standards Act. The work performed during these shifts consists of serving as a security guard to patrol the factory and standing at the entrance to search employees for prohibited items. If someone is caught failing to conduct a proper inspection, they will receive a minor disciplinary demerit that affects their performance evaluation.

3. Finally, some advice for alternative service draftees assigned to research and development:

The entry-level units of the various departments at this company are basically staffed by R&D alternative service draftees. Why do I say this? If Department A is short-staffed, an R&D alternative service draftee may be transferred from Department B to perform work completely unrelated to their original department. Therefore, never assume that after joining the company you will be doing the same work discussed and agreed upon during the interview. This absolutely does not apply to R&D alternative service draftees!!

Pros

This company is not very suitable for recent graduates, for several reasons:

1. You will be assigned a project soon after joining the company. When you encounter problems, you can only rely on yourself—don’t expect a senior colleague to work alongside you. If the project succeeds, you are a hero; if it fails, you are blamed. As a recent graduate, it is easy to be overwhelmed.

2. The company lacks internal experience in developing new products. When problems arise during development, managers often do not know how to proceed either. They simply ask you to look at what competitors are doing. As a recent graduate, it is easy to lose sight of the development direction.

3. The company lacks a rigorous internal development process. Engineers often decide for themselves when each stage begins and ends, only to discover at the final closing that various things have been missed. As a recent graduate, it is easy to become confused about the importance of the new-product development process.

4. Some projects do not have a project manager, so engineers often take on this responsibility themselves. This can lead to issues involving cross-departmental coordination, communication, and specifications. As a recent graduate, you will constantly run into obstacles when executing projects (of course… no senior colleague will work alongside you).

Pros

A company that violates the Labor Standards Act and provides poor employee benefits is not suitable for long-term development.

HR will not tell you:

1. Illegal forced shifts: Assistant engineers and above take turns working morning, evening, and Sunday shifts, effectively serving as security guards at the entrance. None of this counts as overtime.

2. Withholding overtime pay: Management positions at team-lead level and above, as well as engineers at certain grades and above, are not allowed to apply for overtime pay. Only after working more than 4 hours of overtime can they report it for compensatory leave.

3. Forcing you to give up your days off: Six or more times a year, employees are forced to participate in “Knowledge Growth Days” on Saturdays. This does not count as overtime, and your bonus is docked if you do not attend. You must also clock in at the company sports day.

4. It is not just about ability—you also need to be willing to slave away: Promotion opportunities are tied to the number of overtime hours worked. The company schedules all important weekly meetings in the evening, effectively forcing employees to work overtime.

5. Management has no concept of being accountable for revenue: Business performance was poor last year, but management’s year-end bonus percentage was barely reduced, while the bonuses of the frontline employees who actually do the work were slashed drastically.

There is plenty of other exciting content—discover it for yourself.
