Most colleagues are very nice, and there is a monthly employee purchase allowance.

A senior executive has a relative who wields unchecked power. They are extremely incompetent but very good at talking, and drive away managers who are more capable than themselves. In the end, they take on nearly every supervisory role themselves but are incapable of doing anything. They also openly take advantage of employees in public. Those who enjoy flattering old women and young men willing to throw away their dignity can go there.

If you have plenty of time and enjoy being a sycophant, you can give the interview a try.

After being hired, you can also experience the thrill of discovering that the actual job is different from what was discussed in the interview!

Colleagues are cooperative.

This company is simply an agent/distributor. Aside from the brand name being in English, it is not a foreign company at all. The salary structure is split up in various ways, and only barely reaches the minimum wage when added together. Before the bonus system was implemented, they said it would be reviewed after a few months. Reviewed for what? Probably because the boss feels bad if they give too much, while giving too little is considered only natural. Human Resources evades every question, while Marketing responds to poor performance by increasing the targets. A company that markets an environmentally friendly image sends emails all day long and still requires them to be printed out every day and signed for inspection. “We’re not making money” is the perennial excuse. They schedule part-time student workers, trying to save on both health insurance and labor pension contributions. The stores adjust their business hours to save on overtime pay; although, calculated hourly, if you get 100, that should count as a high salary, right?

Office politics are severe. HR uses numerous tactics and is keen on creating panic and manipulating personnel.

Perhaps it is simply a brand that middle-aged people still remember when mentioned.

Unprofessional during the Q&A, constantly emphasizing its long history, when in fact it is merely a trading company acting as an agent for this brand. I wonder what the original manufacturer thinks about what they have turned it into in Taiwan.

This year, the entire senior management team was replaced and the company underwent a complete reshuffle. It seems that no one has been there for more than a year. The attitude is extremely self-important, and the interviews are very perfunctory.

2. The interview process was inefficient. During the earlier phone call, I asked the HR representative to provide me with the basic forms to speed up the interview process. She verbally agreed, but did not provide them.

3. The interview was conducted by the HR manager, who was quite professional. However, when I asked questions, he evaded those he was unclear about and kept dwelling on the former glory of the company.

4. The company's overall operating strategy was very weak. It kept emphasizing how good its products were and how long its history was, but did not seriously address the operational problems the company is currently facing.

I attended this interview simply to understand what kind of company could handle things so carelessly. The HR manager said he had been temporarily asked to support the opening of the Nangang store, and even said that regardless of whether I accepted this reason, that was the fact. His attitude was arrogant and made me very uncomfortable.

6. This is simply a trading company that distributes products from the UK's The Body Shop; essentially, it is a local distributor.

7. The company replaced its entire senior operations management team at the beginning of this year, so everyone internally is new. Even the HR representative only joined in 2019. I found it incredibly unbelievable that the owner could arbitrarily make such sweeping changes to the entire senior management team. It also seemed that employees' rights and benefits were not protected.

It’s easy to change shifts, and most colleagues get along well.

(There are many exceptions among supervisors. Many supervisors have emotional-management issues; there are lots who mutter to themselves and suddenly yell at people. You read that right—suddenly!)

You have to handle and sort merchandise. (At other counters, someone handles the security tags and Chinese labels.)

You have to do the displays yourself. (Other companies have display staff.)

There are no benefits. (There is no employee-tour subsidy, no year-end bonus, and you only get benefits for the three major holidays after completing one year. There is an employee-purchase program, but they deduct a NT$500 monthly benefits fee anyway?)

The company also keeps changing people internally, so you constantly have to adapt to new supervisors. (The supervisors all have very bad tempers—they’re the kind who throw their weight around as officials and are extremely prone to explosive outbursts.)

It’s basically a concept of luring you in with an “average salary” of NT$30,000. (Actually, the pay and benefits... suddenly make me feel that factory wages and benefits are really good! In reality, more than 50% of employees earn below NT$25,000 on average; you have to rely on overtime to push your pay up to those figures...)

The benefits system just gets worse every year.

The company’s only advantage is that the colleagues are all nice.

1. If the boss is unhappy with you, they will ask you to resign. Even if you have done nothing wrong at work, they will still force you out. Employees have virtually no protection.

2. The atmosphere is extremely strange because it is managed like a traditional Taiwanese family business. The boss is about 70 years old and cannot keep up with the times, still using traditional thinking to manage the company, so it cannot progress.

3. HR is very irresponsible and has an extremely poor attitude. I waited about 30 minutes for the interview, only to discover later that HR had completely forgotten that I was inside waiting for it.

4. The employee turnover rate is extremely high.

5. Employees may be asked to go to the boss’s home to handle personal matters.

It is a job that wastes your life. I advise everyone not to be deceived by it: it is a company that wears the shell of a foreign corporation but is essentially a traditional business.

If you make a fuss, you get something; if you don't, people treat you like an idiot.

Don't treat employees like disposable utensils—use them and throw them away! Living in the glory of your past.

Interviewer: HR Manager

The job description on 104 was very vague and brief.

During the interview, when I asked about the job responsibilities, workload proportions, and details based on the JD on 104, the manager harshly questioned me, saying, “Didn’t you read what was written on 104? The job is exactly what is written on 104.” No further explanation of the job responsibilities was provided afterward.

At the end of the interview, they explained that if there were a second-round interview, the candidate would have to choose one of the existing product lines and write a complete three-month product launch marketing plan. If hired, the proposal would be used to evaluate the candidate during the probationary period. They also stated that meeting the requirements would result in continued employment, while failing to meet them would mean the candidate should “pat themselves on the backside and leave.” This made it feel as though they simply wanted the candidate to do unpaid work, rather than genuinely assess whether the candidate was suitable for the position.

The company is chaotic, and employee turnover is high.

There are no established procedures; you’re expected to start working without any handover.

The first interview was with the Assistant Procurement Manager, and the process was basically relaxed and pleasant. I was then told that the HR Manager would be conducting the interview, but that I would need to wait because they were in a meeting. What followed was a long wait—about 40 minutes. The HR representative spoke very quickly and was rather serious, but the interview was not overly difficult. After it ended, they proactively told me that they would personally inform me of the result two days later.

Ten days later, I received a call asking me to attend a second interview with the General Manager. After I arrived, there was another long wait of about 40 minutes before the General Manager finally showed up. Less than a minute after sitting down, they said they had forgotten to take care of something and asked me to wait again, then left.... I waited for nearly another half hour. In the meantime, the HR representative came in and asked why I was still in the room after finishing the interview (confused???). After I explained the situation, the HR representative and assistant began playing a game of searching for the General Manager.

After the HR Manager finally found the General Manager and brought them in to interview me, the General Manager actually conducted the interview standing up... The entire process lasted less than five minutes, and the questions were also very unprofessional and repetitive. Since the General Manager had also worked in the industry of my previous job “ten years ago,” but in a different segment (brand vs. manufacturing), their thinking was outdated. They did not understand the current state of the industry and still tried to rely on their seniority to act superior.

Afterward, the HR Manager proactively came over again and said, “Regardless of the interview result, I’ll call you tomorrow＾＾.” Naturally, I did not receive a single call＾＾.

Summary: This is a company where the interviewers have no sense of time, are unprofessional and rude, and do not respect job applicants. Everyone, beware.

The frontline staff are all very capable, and you can learn a lot.

It looks like a foreign company, but it is completely a Taiwanese company with outdated thinking underneath. The company evades compliance with the Labor Standards Act. Think very carefully before joining.
