Pros

Having lunch with colleagues.

Cons

This... I had a dream,

where I went back to 2010.

At the time, I successfully applied to join the creative department (which has since been disbanded),

and got to know three great colleagues.

We had our own small office.

However,

what we had to face every day was the boss constantly revising documents,

and without any reason.

Maybe she thought they were good that day,

and the next day she no longer did.

We also had to endure the pressure of almost every employee in the office potentially being scolded / being made to stay after work for meetings.

Once, someone from a family-run business microwaved fish,

which made the office stink all day~~ (Even my sense of smell in the dream was still very sensitive.)

Later, the creative manager resigned first,

and then it was my turn.

Then I woke up,

and found that I had successfully arrived in 2020.

Pros

1. The colleagues get along very well and are like a family. I’m also very familiar with the branch manager, who is friendly and approachable. If there is an emergency or something comes up at home, it can be discussed, and shifts can be adjusted or arrangements made.

2. Sometimes new equipment is introduced at the same time as overseas markets, and it isn’t available anywhere else in Taiwan. We get to try it first, which is quite novel.

Cons

I’m a weight management consultant. The work itself is OK and fairly stable.

The only thing is that there is an evaluation system and a fairly comprehensive training program. After completing the courses, you have to prepare for an exam. The pressure of preparing for each evaluation is fairly high, but passing the exam gives you a great sense of accomplishment.

Pros

They paint all kinds of rosy pictures, but you can vaguely sense that something is off.

Cons

Basically, everything people write is true, not fantasy. If you don't have strong willpower and resilience in the face of setbacks, don't try it lightly. I just want to say one thing: Mei and Chang are beyond saving. That's it!

Pros

The boss will paint you many beautiful and moving pictures, sugarcoating things.

Cons

This is exactly what I experienced! They are dishonest, pay low wages while asking you to do the work of many departments, and constantly change their minds—saying one moment that something is fine, then overturning it the next. You are often dragged into meetings where you are expected to give speeches without any room for disagreement. The work you planned for yourself cannot be carried out because they keep adding many new tasks. That teacher has a relative in a high-ranking position nearby; if they take a dislike to you, they will get rid of you… The teacher is also a very emotional person: when happy, they say you are good; when unhappy, they ignore you or even tell you to leave. They are fickle, making it difficult to carry out your work or demonstrate your expertise! Every member of the “royal family” has an arrogant attitude, and their way of speaking is even more lacking in manners. There is no hope.

Pros

1) Conveniently close to the MRT station, making commuting very easy.

2) There are many delicious places to eat nearby, as well as several convenience stores.

3) You can go shopping after work.

Cons

1) It is difficult to work properly, and it is hard to clearly establish your work direction and role.

2) Every day is like riding a roller coaster: today they praise you for being great, and tomorrow they tell you to leave.

3) When you want to properly demonstrate your professional expertise, the senior management here does not seem to value it much.

4) You are frequently assigned work that you should not be responsible for.

5) Design is not treated as design, and it is impossible to do marketing properly. Every day, you are either called to meetings to be reprimanded or made to listen to their stories about how hard they worked to build the company—stories that are out of touch with reality.

Pros

1. Employees can purchase courses and skincare products at the employee discount.

2. The workplace is close to an MRT station.

Other than that, there are no advantages.

Cons

I urge job seekers considering joining this company to think twice, and then think twice again. I guarantee you will regret joining, because it is completely different from what you hear during the interview.

1. The turnover rate is extremely high. In the HR department, for example, two managers were replaced within four months.

Three secretaries were replaced within three months.

In the marketing department, 30–40 employees have left in the past two years, and in nearly ten years, no manager has stayed for more than a year.

2. The company has no systems or procedures to speak of; everything depends entirely on the boss’s mood. The boss is also highly emotional and unpredictable.

3. The boss changes directives from one day to the next, making it difficult to set goals. There are new ideas every day.

4. Endless, inefficient meetings—especially since the boss likes to come into the office after noon and then call people into meetings at four or five in the afternoon.

5. Activities can be expanded overnight from a budget of NT$200,000 to NT$1 million, but the boss then backs down after the budget is produced, resulting in a great deal of wasted work.

6. One person is expected to do the work of five. Compared with the interview, the responsibilities assigned are roughly three times greater.

7. Employees who work overtime to the point of neglecting their families are often praised, and considered highly responsible and admirable.

8. Target sales figures are set as if haggling at a marketplace.

9. The boss often says how good the company is to its employees, yet does not realize that people actually hope he will not come into the office, because that just leads to another round of endless meetings.

10. There are many relatives and people with personal connections inside the company.

Pros

This company has absolutely no advantages whatsoever

Cons

Anyone considering applying to this company should think twice.

This is a 40-year-old company, yet it has virtually no systems or processes, and policies change constantly.

Regardless of ability or right and wrong, the company shows unlimited tolerance toward long-term employees, while new employees are treated as if they are expendable. Internal relationships among relatives and friends are extremely complicated, with many people connected to the company leadership. Because of the interests of senior employees, decisions that would benefit the company are difficult to implement smoothly, making it hard to retain talent.

1. This company basically has no benefits.

2. What is said during the interview is completely different from what happens after joining the company.

3. The boss’s mood is unpredictable, so everyone has to watch her mood.

4. When working at this company, you have to treat every day as if it might be your last, because you could be laid off for no apparent reason at any time.

5. The boss gives anyone only one chance. If she is dissatisfied, there is no opportunity to recover.

6. All ideas, policies, and plans can change from one moment to the next, making it impossible to adapt; decisions made in a morning meeting may be overturned in the afternoon.

7. The boss’s personal preferences take precedence over everything, but she may turn against people at any time and disavow them.

8. The criteria for selecting and appointing people are impossible to determine. In addition, unplanned overtime cannot be refused.

9. There are many relatives and people connected to the company leadership.

10. New employees will find it extremely difficult to survive for more than a year, while long-term employees have it very easy.

11. The boss has no respect for professional expertise and will use her experience from 40 years ago to argue against it.

12. Leaving work on time is considered irresponsible, so you must devote yourself to the company year-round, without time off, to be considered responsible.

13. When you first join the company, new employees are made to feel hopeful and highly motivated, but it is all fake. New employees may initially think it is a wonderful workplace, but that is also fake.

This company’s problems are too numerous to list. For job seekers who are not afraid of the risks—or who are fresh graduates and unaware of what they are getting into—although job hunting is a personal choice, it is still advisable to choose a company carefully.

Pros

Salaries are paid on time; when there is a holiday, payment is only made earlier, never later.

Except in the Accounting and Finance Department, working hours are fairly normal, and overtime is rarely required.

Cons

Work is largely dictated by the boss’s mood. Although it is a 40-year-old company, it has little in the way of established systems, and policies change constantly.

Regardless of ability or right and wrong, long-serving employees receive unlimited leniency, while new employees receive the opposite treatment. Internal relationships among relatives and friends are highly complicated. Due to the interests of senior employees, decisions beneficial to the company are difficult to implement smoothly, making it difficult to retain talent.

Pros

The company provides products for sale to employees (although they are close to expiring).

Cons

There is a probationary salary, but you have to remind your supervisor about a salary adjustment after the probationary period; the supervisor will not proactively make the adjustment.

The resignation notice period is inconsistent with the requirements of the Labor Standards Act.
