Pros

From an administrative perspective:

1. The work is straightforward, the environment is simple, and the salary is reasonable.

2. There is sufficient freedom (far fewer meetings than at large companies), but you need to work independently and take the initiative to ask questions!!

3. The workplace atmosphere is good, and you can leave on time without feeling guilty! Overtime is only occasionally required.

4. The organization is simple, so you do not have to deal with too many supervisors, making it relatively easy to discuss and solve problems!

Cons

There are fewer opportunities to go out, and the organization is somewhat flatter, but there is still room for development.

Pros

I’ve been working as a designer in the northern district for over four years, and overall it’s been pretty good! After completing the basic training, you’re guaranteed a base salary of NT$45,000 plus individual and team performance bonuses. A monthly salary of NT$60,000–70,000 or more is quite common. Although your salary isn’t docked if you don’t meet the target, normally it’s possible to exceed it. I currently plan to renew my contract. Other than occasionally needing to spend extra time and patience communicating with special-case customers, the work isn’t particularly busy! The main customers are people with male-pattern baldness or hair loss caused by cancer, illness, or postpartum changes. After their transformations, customers are usually very grateful and feel that we’ve genuinely helped solve their hair-loss problems, which is a small but meaningful sense of accomplishment. Having fewer competitors is also one of the reasons I considered this job, and it gives me the chance to learn another skill. The work is stable, and having a corresponding customer base makes it relatively easy to manage the daily appointment schedule. The hours are fairly easy to arrange because the number of customer appointments doesn’t suddenly surge. One advantage is that you don’t have to find customers on your own. That’s quite different from working at a salon before! I’d really recommend it to designers who want to save money. Come give it a try.

Cons

You need to practice your consultation skills and clearly understand customers’ needs.

Pros

The designer job is fairly stable and smooth. The first three months are for training, so you can focus on learning and passing the assessment. Once you reach the base salary of 45,000, you can start earning performance-based commissions! For most designers, earning 60,000–70,000 is no problem. Not having to go out and hand out flyers to find customers is a great advantage! It’s much better than working as an outside salesperson running around everywhere! Basically, as long as you provide sincere, attentive service to customers with hair-related concerns, closing sales is generally quite easy. However, you still need to ask clearly what customers want to avoid a gap between the final result and their expectations!! I recommend communicating the customer’s needs clearly from the start. There are also opportunities for advancement when working at Magic Hair House. I highly recommend it for young people who are willing to work hard and want to save money. As for the contract, I personally am not worried because I originally wanted a stable job! Why not make the most of a platform where you can showcase your abilities, without having to go out in the sun and wind looking for business! It’s also a happy and good company. The boss personally takes time to visit the stores regularly to understand customers’ problems and concerns, so you can communicate face-to-face directly! In short, you get out what you put in! Highly recommend. The beautiful environment is also what makes working here most comfortable for me!

Cons

A good place to cultivate patience

Pros

I’m a hairstylist working in southern Taiwan, and I’ve renewed my contract for the second time. The environment is uncomplicated, and the work is professional, so there are opportunities to learn! In general, it’s worth considering if you’re looking for stability. The benefits and guarantees are fairly good—you just need to make the most of client consultations. Once you do that well, it’s easy to achieve your performance targets, and you’ll learn more skills than in ordinary hairdressing!

At first, I was also attracted by the fact that after completing the training and passing the assessment, you can receive a base salary of NT$45,000, which is quite good. I also successfully passed after three months. In addition to learning Xin’s techniques, I also considered the future development opportunities!! So far, I’ve been quite satisfied with the job. The boss even operates a high-tech wig camper van that travels around Taiwan. Sometimes, if there’s a difficult customer issue, you can arrange to meet and consult face-to-face, so you don’t have to rely solely on the stylist to handle everything!! However, learning the skills also requires dedication and practice! I sincerely recommend asking lots of questions when you have them—what you learn is yours! I also plan to continue in this field because there is less competition!

Of course, I’m not someone who wants to earn only the base salary. If I can earn more through performance, I will, because the bonus system is quite good!! I recommend this to hair professionals who want to learn new techniques—you can give it a try~~

Cons

You need to spend some time understanding the mindset and needs of people experiencing hair loss, as well as communicating with them continuously, in order to determine which products are suitable for them!!

Pros

I’m a hairstylist. After joining Magic Hair, I’ve been able to learn wig-related techniques and service communication skills in addition to hairstyling. One benefit is that the customer base is very stable, so I don’t have to find clients myself. Even if performance targets aren’t met, there’s no deduction from my pay, and the company covers the material costs. However, my performance has exceeded the standards by a lot!!! Although there is a contract, I feel it actually provides better protection for me because I no longer have to go through the guild for insurance enrollment!! If you genuinely want to make money while having stability, Magic Hair is a good choice!!! You don’t have to worry about it suddenly going under like a salon. The atmosphere at my store is good, and my coworkers are quite supportive and share with one another. You do need to spend time studying the professional aspects, though! If you’re tired of doing hairstyling, you could give it a try—serving men with male-pattern baldness or people experiencing hair loss is also quite fulfilling! If you want to save money, I’d suggest working here for a few more years; it can help resolve financial problems! The labor insurance coverage I care about is also fully provided here!

In conclusion, the work environment and benefits are pretty good! The boss also uses the company’s products, which makes it easier to communicate with customers about their situations!! I recommend it to people considering a career change or wanting to learn different techniques—give it a try!

Cons

You really need to be motivated and want to make money to work here.

Pros

After being with Magic Hair for a while, the bonus structure is highly flexible—in principle, you get returns commensurate with what you put in!!! Basically, the more experienced designers are also quite stable, and the customer base is OK. The atmosphere at the unit where I work is good!!! At first, I was also quite worried about the contract, but after working there for a while, I realized there was actually not much need to worry about violating it. Basically, it would only be a problem in cases of criminal behavior!! The boss also regularly checks in on employees. Overall, I’m satisfied with the job.

Cons

It requires quite a lot of patience.

Pros

The work is fairly straightforward, and overtime is uncommon!! The boss is also easy to communicate with!! After joining, I learned from a senior hairstylist that the company has had no disputes with employees in the past 20 years. Even when there was a breach of contract, the company never penalized employees! Many people have continued renewing their contracts with the company. The company has donated wigs for cancer patients to National Taiwan University Hospital, which is a kind and meaningful initiative!! There is room to develop your talents. Overall, the work atmosphere is fairly relaxed.

Cons

There could be more stores.

Pros

I applied for the position of salon hairstylist.

Before the interview, the store manager had me fill out a questionnaire.

It included a warning stating that if anything untrue was discovered during verification, there would be OOXX (I forget exactly what it said, but it carried a very serious warning).

Then there was a series of short-answer questions.

The more unusual ones were the questions someone mentioned previously:

* What do your family members (including your boyfriend) do for a living?

* Do you have any particular religious beliefs?

* What is your Chinese zodiac sign?

* Do you have any mid- or long-term plans?

The store manager who interviewed me was fairly friendly and approachable.

They patiently answered all of my questions.

Cons

Later, the store manager told me that upon joining the company, I would first have to sign a contract prohibiting me from resigning without authorization for five years.

The penalty for breach of contract would be NT$500,000.

The job listing on the employment website stated that the guaranteed base salary was NT$45,000.

They said this salary included the NT$2,000 perfect-attendance bonus and all overtime pay,

because the working hours for this position were 10:30–21:00.

(Although the listing stated that there were two hours of rest, in practice you had to find your own time to eat, and there was no fixed two-hour break.)

There were six days off per month.

So strictly speaking, the guaranteed minimum salary already included payment for all of this compulsory overtime.

You would also have to cooperate with their staffing arrangements.

You might be assigned to work in another county or city.

If an overnight stay was required, there would be an allowance.

In principle, performance was assessed based on the team’s results, but each person also had an individual performance target.

Also, if you accidentally damaged a wig,

you would have to cover the cost of the wig yourself (tens of thousands of New Taiwan dollars).

The year-end bonus would be paid based on “individual performance.”

Overall, the part that concerned me most was the five-year contract and the NT$500,000 penalty for breach.

Pros

The company’s office décor is very luxurious, and its location in Songshan District is quite convenient. The first interview was conducted by the company’s HR representative, who asked some questions about my personal information but did not ask about or seem familiar with professional matters.

Cons

Before the interview, I was asked to fill out a personal information form. One item left a particularly deep impression: it asked whether I had a boyfriend or girlfriend and required me to fill in my partner’s “occupation.” I left it blank, but the HR representative asked again whether I had a boyfriend == That’s really overstepping.

After previously reading other people’s work experiences on the interview review site, I discovered that the company cares a lot about employees’ religion, because the company’s owner really likes going to temples to worship. Although I was not asked about religion during this interview (the personal information form did ask me to state my religion), I was asked whether I had a partner and my “partner’s occupation.” What does this have to do with my work abilities? The HR representative said that they pay some attention to these matters. I think a company that cares about this kind of thing is very strange and has poor internal controls.

I later asked about the company’s epidemic-prevention measures. The company had no staggered work arrangements or WFH at all, because they felt there were not many people. It seems the owner is the relatively fearless type.

In the future, the company will simply continue steadily selling wigs, without any other innovative ideas or prospects.
