First of all, I have to say that this is a company with a very strong local, down-to-earth character—people are genuine, and if they don't see eye to eye, they immediately clink glasses; otherwise, they ask how your day is going (sometimes they even ask about your ancestors going back eighteen generations).

There is only a very slim chance of meeting like-minded colleagues. If you do, you can burn your youth together; but if you don't, you can only hope that you did enough good deeds in your previous life so you won't be singled out or excluded.

If you're a fresh graduate just entering the workforce, I think this is an excellent boot camp for beginners (better than a military camp). As long as you can stay for more than three months, you can proudly call yourself highly stress-resistant. When you switch careers afterward, you'll also feel that your adaptability is exceptionally strong.

As for holidays, it is true that public holidays are days off (internally only)…. But this was obtained by stepping over the bodies of several generations of senior colleagues…. There are also many consecutive days off that are postponed until later… and if you take too many days off in a row, the so-called leaders will even check in on you…

As for salary, it is indeed adjusted every year… but when it's only a few hundred dollars each time, I honestly feel there's no point…

Cons

If you happen to have a good leader, then it really is heaven. But most of the leaders here are either people who have simply been around long enough or people who took over a mess that nobody else was willing to handle; they are completely useless.

If all we do is sit together chatting about gossip and holding meetings, then I'd rather bleed and sweat outside together with my colleagues.

Anyone here has a chance to become one of the so-called leaders, as long as you have no shame—or you're enough of a bootlicker.

This is a ship for experiencing seasickness. If you fail to get off in time when it docks, you'll be fed empty promises. Whether you're skin and bones or about to burst at the stomach, they'll keep drawing grandiose promises for you to swallow.

If you've truly made up your mind to join, then as a senior colleague, my advice to you is:

First, go to the zoo and see how ostriches survive. Also, never believe that stupid saying, “The greater your ability, the greater your responsibility.” If you've already prepared yourself to go straight to hell, then you can set off~

There is no sales pressure and you don't have to deal with customers, so the work is relatively simple. When you join, they first ask you to sign a three-month fixed-term contract (?

Things like salary increase gradually. As for whether your rights differ during the contract period, nothing was mentioned. I guess it's suitable for recent graduates—the kind with plenty of time.

Cons

Every day, you have to finish tidying up the store before you can leave. On average, you leave half an hour late on weekdays and one hour late on holidays, of course without pay.

On holidays, they deduct 10 minutes from your break because holidays are busier (?

You only get days off on public holidays if they are officially designated as days off. Eight days off per month; otherwise, I heard they calculate it using an average. Basically, scheduling days off is extremely inflexible.

The store manager is a problem. All the Google reviews complain that the manager has a terrible attitude. That's right—toward colleagues too, they have an overbearing superior-to-subordinate attitude. It's utterly speechless, hello? The employment relationship is a transaction, not an act of charity. Besides, you're not the one paying our salaries, so don't be so self-important! They even made snide remarks when I was leaving the job.

Pros

One of the most exploitative companies the writer has ever worked for.

If you work in the Development Department, you often need to travel for work.

You only get compensatory leave after traveling for 12 hours, and even then, you only get a tiny amount. There are all kinds of violations of the Labor Standards Act.

Head-office internal staff receive no bonuses whatsoever.

This company includes meal allowances and perfect-attendance bonuses in the base salary.

The writer often traveled for work until 11 p.m. or 1 a.m.

There is no overtime pay whatsoever. Employees are told they receive NT$3,000 per month, but they have to pay NT$2,000 themselves for the company to subsidize only NT$1,000 (you pay NT$2,000 yourself, the company contributes NT$1,000, giving you NT$3,000 to spend).

Salary adjustments are negligible. I genuinely do not recommend working here—even for the sake of work experience. For internal staff, the only benefits are air conditioning at work and extremely relaxed dress-code policies.

The Development Department often has to stop working midway to go downstairs and move various display props, mannequins, and heavy items.

Business trips offer no real benefits; the only meal allowance is NT$200 per day.

However, when traveling to work as a store clerk, the weather is hot and the work is exhausting. You usually have to buy drinks along with a boxed meal, so the cost of lunch and dinner for one day exceeds the allowance.

The allowance is nowhere near enough when traveling to department stores. If there is nowhere to eat nearby, you can only eat at the department store, which costs at least NT$300 more per day for two meals—a major financial loss.

In short, I strongly advise against staying here for long, and I especially do not recommend working in the Development Department, where you will be exploited as an extremely low-paid worker.

After the probation period, the salary is adjusted to just over NT$27,000. On weekdays, overtime is frequent, and one meeting even lasted until 11 p.m.

Internal staff regularly travel to stores on weekdays and work 12-hour shifts (on average, there are 5–7 business-trip days per month).

When things are busy on weekdays, overtime is basically one to two hours.

They claim it is a responsibility-based work system, but it is blatantly illegal.

The boss sometimes buys food to comfort employees, including during overtime and occasional afternoon tea. Do not take it too seriously: by buying that food, the boss saves a pile of overtime pay and is really making a huge profit.

The year-end bonus is reportedly only one month’s salary (it can only be collected in March each year). So far, I only know that there is a small red envelope for Lunar New Year’s Eve, ranging from a few hundred to a few thousand dollars (new employees receive only NT$600). Other than that, there is only around NT$2,000 in bonuses from the spring banquet and prize money from the spring-banquet singing competition.

To recover overtime pay, employees can only consider pursuing mediation.

Cons

Everything has already been written in the work-experience section.

You can indeed learn a little, but not much. The apparel industry seems to be quite exploitative across the board.

I would recommend that store employees look for jobs with a better base salary.

This company’s performance targets seem to be very high. Some flagship stores have monthly targets of NT$6 million, while the other stores probably exceed NT$2 million as well.

In short, even after receiving performance bonuses, the total salary is only NT$35,000.

I really do not recommend working here.

I recommend the internal positions even less; employees are treated like the lowest class and exploited at every level.

At work, the only benefits are the extremely broad freedom of dress—whether you want to dress like a party girl, dye your hair red, yellow, blue, or green, dress in an artsy style, or wear backless tops, crop tops, or hot pants—and air conditioning. (Smokers may request two or three smoking breaks per day, three to five minutes each.) There are no other benefits.

I also do not recommend buying too many employee-purchase items during your employment, because the salary is meager. If you want to experience working here, I suggest resigning within three or six months. If you stay beyond that period, you may feel that you have to wait until you receive the year-end bonus before leaving, but I do not recommend wasting time working here.

The turnover rate here is also extremely high. The low wages are really just used to lure young, inexperienced newcomers into joining.

The office atmosphere is fairly relaxed.

Cons

You can only apply for compensatory time off after traveling for more than 12 hours. The salary already includes perfect-attendance bonuses, meal allowances, and so on. The company has established quite a few rules, and money will be deducted if you fail to follow them. There is also no overtime pay for working overtime under normal circumstances. Although the office atmosphere is relaxed, the salary is on the low side, there are not many benefits, and pay raises are also very small.

The employee welfare fund deducted each month also comes out of your salary.

Take a day off when the figures are in the red

Cons

A place that completely exploits its employees. When you join, they say the job includes handling tasks assigned by your supervisor, but eventually you have to do everything—a single person takes on multiple roles—for extremely low pay! They want to retain employees but show no sincerity, and getting a raise is basically impossible. They set performance targets unrealistically high so you cannot meet them and then cannot receive the group performance bonus. Labor and health insurance premiums are deducted from your salary, and after the deductions, your pay is not even at the minimum wage level required by the Labor Standards Act. Then they deduct money for all kinds of rules—so much that it feels unreasonable. They claim there is a perfect-attendance bonus, but it is merely included in the base salary. The meal allowance listed on the payslip is also included in the base salary; they do not actually provide a meal allowance. If you only want to learn and gain work experience, you can go there, but staying long term is basically impossible. Turnover is extremely high, whether in the stores or in internal departments.

None

Cons

I arranged an interview with the store manager at around four o’clock for a retail position. When I arrived early, there were too many customers, so they told me to wait on the side. After they finished serving customers, a staff member came over and said, “The interview has started, but it’s already no longer possible.” I was told to leave without even meeting the store manager.

During this time, the staff members were also whispering to each other nearby, which made me feel very uncomfortable. A very poor interview experience. Candidates who hope to be treated with respect may as well not come.....

The company’s internal operations are inefficient. Employees at large stores often have to work overtime until the early hours of the morning (without overtime pay). If there is an inventory shortage during stocktaking, discounted items are still deducted at their original price. When resigning, employees are also required to pay a NT$3,000 inventory deposit. You’ll see all kinds of unreasonable rules here.
