Pros

Convenient workplace location

The salary is okay

Cons

If I had the chance to do it over, I definitely would not work for this company.

The exterior and decor look very nice,

but in reality, there are a lot of papers and such inside the company, making it feel dirty and disorganized (or are all interior design companies like this?).

Also, the company is full of older women who are very difficult to communicate with.

They won't listen to any suggestions. If you try to talk to a supervisor, the supervisor will even say they are busy and leave you hanging for two weeks, then ask another colleague to tell you to leave.

Simple matters are made needlessly complicated, requiring you to go through a bunch of procedures. At a meeting, I asked why documents had to be submitted for approval twice, and the senior employee just arrogantly replied, “I don't know; that's how it's always been.”

In short, it's a company that doesn't know how to be flexible.

The online clock-in system seems very employee-friendly at first glance.

Before I started working there, I was told that I could clock in while waiting for the elevator.

But in reality, as long as you're not at your desk after clocking in—even if you've already arrived but just went to get some water—someone will immediately call to ask where you are and tell you to submit a leave request to make up for it.

Also, an older woman who has been there for 20 years monopolizes the water dispenser for at least half an hour every day. The restroom and pantry are dirty and cramped.

Overall, the impression it left me with is that it's a company that only cares about appearances.

The inside is dirty, disorganized, old-fashioned, overloaded with too many miscellaneous things, has poor handovers, and is simply terrible.

The salary is pretty good; it is based on one’s education and experience.

Cons

There is a thin female supervisor in the Engineering Department’s Construction Management Section who is not very capable. She has a sidekick who has a low level of education but has also been with the company for an extremely long time. The two of them constantly make the construction management assistants below take the blame and dump everything on them. She herself is not very capable either; she only knows how to look at numbers and make vague, insincere remarks. She takes credit for accomplishments by telling superiors that she did them, while shifting blame for mistakes to the assistants below. The construction management assistant position in this section is perpetually vacant. Some former colleagues clearly applied to be construction management assistants, but after joining, they were forced to take on the department secretary’s duties! In short, personnel management at this company is a mess. There are only a few long-serving employees who do not do any work but pretend otherwise.

I’ve heard that the colleagues in the Design Department are also having a very hard time, and so are those in the Engineering Department.

Pros

1. It can enrich your résumé and provide exposure to quite a few construction crew foremen. There is a lot to learn, and the scope of experience is broad.

2. The pace of salary adjustments and bonuses for winning projects—the company is not stingy. What you are entitled to is yours.

3. The company provides health checkups, which are fairly good.

Cons

1. In principle, the company's managers come to work with a retirement-minded attitude. When something happens, the first people they look for to take the blame are the designers and engineers below them. If the Team supervisor has a good relationship with managers, subordinates who do not know how to curry favor and only diligently do their jobs have only one outcome: "work themselves to death and never get promoted." Managers always shift the blame for their own mistakes to subordinates first. When the matter is reported to upper management, the company is also the first to fire frontline employees. It is a company that does not ask who is right or wrong, only how long someone has been employed.

2. In the company's eyes, the Labor Standards Act is just a string of words. It is not followed, and there are no real working or quitting times, let alone any mention of leave. In the company's eyes, frontline employees in design and engineering are just an inexhaustible supply of fresh livers. Ideally, they are used until they cannot take it anymore and then resign on their own, which is why the company is Always hiring. Regardless of whether you submit leave according to company procedures, if you call and no one answers, you are immediately blacklisted.

3. When women have menstrual leave and are in too much pain to work, their supervisors will only tell them to come to the office no matter what. They do not treat people's lives as lives. Employees are not company assets; they are merely tools.

4. There is hardly any promotion system. It takes at least 10 years to get promoted, and for those without connections, more than 15 years. If the old-timers at the top do not leave, they will never be replaced. After joining the company, what you see is always the people selling their fresh livers at the bottom coming and going, while the supervisors at the top remain immovable. If you want a promotion, switching companies is probably faster.

5. The company's most criticized practice is probably making employees take the blame. In the same group, the supervisor is always responsible for everything good, while everything wrong is blamed on the people below. So it does not matter how hard you work; knowing how to curry favor with supervisors and managers is the real key, even if

In short, after developing solid practical skills here, you will find that the company's overall senior-management culture is quite corrupt. Knowing how to curry favor is more important than being capable. This is something you encounter at large companies, but after staying at this company for 1–2 years, your mindset will become much stronger out in the world, because when your supervisor wants you to take the blame, the manager above will also join in. As for the vice presidents and the owner, after working here for several years, they do not even know who you are. Therefore, it is very important to have the right supervisor at the company. Based on the people I have worked with so far—a male supervisor in his fifties and a male manager who wears glasses (senior management is easy to recognize)—their approach can be summed up in one sentence: "Fresh livers are replaceable; anyone will do. If you cannot handle it, I can replace you at any time. Taking the blame is also one of your responsibilities."

Treat the job as training, but if you are looking for a place to coast toward retirement, I advise you to build up your experience and then move on. There are better companies waiting for you outside.

Pros

Rich resources, abundant resources in the materials room, large projects provide broader exposure, résumé-building experience, and a chance to give it a try while your liver is still fresh...

Cons

Officially, they say you can arrive early and leave early, but there are actually unspoken rules: arriving at 8:00 means being the first to open the door, and leaving at 19:30 is already considered late, yet your supervisor will still deliberately make things difficult for you. Promotions are difficult, as the positions are all occupied by veteran employees, so the turnover rate among younger people is high. They are always hiring (anyone under 35 counts as young... people keep coming and going). The working hours are excessively long; at the longest, I worked up to 24 hours without sleeping, rushing drawings at the company. (Because the supervisor does not want to see you leave work on time, even when the client has not requested any changes, the supervisor still makes you redraw things repeatedly.) If a proposal does not go smoothly, the blame is pushed down from the top onto the PM, and then the PM blames the people at the bottom. (In reality, the proposal is mainly handled by the director and PM; people lower down have no right to speak but still have to take the blame.) Oh, and there is no overtime pay~ only a NT$120 meal allowance.
