Pros

When you first join as a full-time employee, your job title is Store Staff (three-month probationary period), with a starting salary of NT$27,000.

After passing the probationary period, your title is promoted to Assistant Store Supervisor (shift scheduling), with a salary of NT$28,000.

If you perform well and are willing, you may eventually have the opportunity to become an Assistant Store Manager, Store Manager, or transfer to headquarters. I’m not sure about the salary for those positions, though XD

When you first start, your main duties are generally getting familiar with the environment, learning how to operate the cash register and check out customers, checking and stocking inventory, placing orders, promoting products, opening and closing the store, and so on!

Later, you’ll learn shift-scheduling duties, back-office operations, ordering for the entire store, and more.

Benefits include a 10% employee discount on weekdays and a 20% employee discount on Member Days.

You get 9–10 days off per month (you choose 4 days; the store manager schedules the rest).

If the cash register is short, you generally won’t be required to cover the difference (unless it was intentional or the amount is very large).

Positions below assistant store manager rarely require overtime or staying late; store managers work overtime more often.

The company follows the Labor Standards Act closely. If you work overtime, you’ll receive overtime pay or compensatory leave.

Taking leave is fairly easy, as long as the store has enough staff and you give notice in advance according to the rules.

There’s no individual sales-performance pressure~

I’ve been working here for almost two years, and I’ve found it pretty enjoyable XD

Cons

At most, the salary adjustment range is small~

Otherwise, it’s a people issue!

Pros

I’ve worked here both full-time and part-time!! I stayed for almost two years!! I really like this company~

For part-time interviews, the store manager of the branch you applied to based on your résumé will call you and arrange a time for you to come to the store for an interview~

For full-time interviews, you first go to the head office in Zhongshan District.

Then go upstairs to the entrance on the left. There’s a receptionist; call the HR specialist you made the appointment with and just tell them you’re there for an interview.

Generally, an HR specialist, manager, district manager, or assistant HR manager may interview you individually (that’s how it was for me).

The interview content is basically a self-introduction, work experience, why you want to join Sanyou, and so on.

The interview process is actually quite pleasant, so just stay calm. There are no specific requirements for interview attire~ Just don’t wear shorts and flip-flops!!

Basically, as long as you show enthusiasm for customer service and a good attitude, you should have about an 80% chance of getting hired.

If you’re accepted, the district manager will ask you on the day of the interview which branch you’d like to work at. They’ll try to arrange a location that’s relatively close to your home.

But there’s really no guarantee that you’ll get the branch you want, unless they happen to have an opening~ (I had my placement changed twice at the last minute.)

That’s pretty much how the interview goes~ Feel free to ask questions~

Cons

Basically, women have a better chance of being hired~

For men, it depends on their looks and attitude~

The company places a lot of importance on attitude!!

Pros

The colleagues are young and easy to get along with, except for a few long-serving old-timers.

Cons

The company lacks competitiveness and is suffering heavy losses.

Store managers, staff, and pharmacists are leaving in large numbers.

The managers have absolutely no professionalism and are heavily influenced by their personal preferences.

There are no standards whatsoever for performance evaluations; if those above you like you, it doesn't matter even if you make mistakes.

Pros

All colleagues are very young, so there is less of a generation gap.

The company generally does not impose many disciplinary measures.

If the cash register is short, the company absorbs the loss; if you are late, your pay is deducted according to the number of minutes.

Pharmacists are treated very well and with great courtesy, and there are also good opportunities for promotion.

You will definitely be promoted to chief; store managers are almost all under 25 years old.

It is a happy company.

There is also no performance pressure, as the focus is on the performance of the entire store.

Everything is fully in accordance with the Labor Standards Act.

Cons

The promotion system is very opaque.

The boss is Japanese, and male employees have almost no opportunity to be promoted to the head office.

Appearance is very important. Those who chat with the boss or stand out more are more likely to be transferred back to the head office, and this applies to every department. I also don't know whether all companies are like this.

You must reply on LINE every day after work; otherwise, you will be blacklisted.

However, it seems that you don't learn much. After staying for a long time, you become less competitive, so I eventually resigned.

Pros

The company follows the rules and provides all the required labor and health insurance. Overtime is also converted into compensatory leave hours (although since the implementation of the one fixed day off and one flexible rest day policy, there have been limits on the number of overtime hours; besides the store manager, you generally won’t have to work much overtime). The schedule won’t make you close the store one day and open it the next (unless they really can’t manage with the available staff).

Cons

The promotion system isn’t transparent (what’s the point of filling out performance evaluation forms if you don’t even know what they’re for?). It all depends on whether the people above you like you (although I don’t know whether all workplaces are like this).

Meal times are less fixed; whether you can eat when you’re hungry depends on whether there are enough staff in the store. Otherwise, it depends on the store manager’s management style.
