Pros

Some senior colleagues at headquarters are willing to teach carefully.

Cons

The supervisor is emotional and may suddenly tell you to stop working immediately when unhappy.

The turnover rate at this family-owned company is extremely high.

Opportunities for overseas business trips

Cons

It feels like one person is expected to do the work of several people.

Apparently, they previously hired university graduates, but many of them left after not working there for very long; it was merely treated as a stepping stone.

They also said that since I’m no longer young, and that this job has a very heavy workload and is very demanding—but the pay is extremely low. Who would actually come to do this job?

Pros

1. Employees receive a birthday gift allowance that can be used to buy things ($1,000).

2. There are bonuses for recommending the card.

Cons

1. The manager is extremely emotional. We have to report our sales performance every day without missing a day. If we fail to meet the target for two or three consecutive days, we are also disciplined privately.

2. She likes to send high-pressure messages in the middle of the night, such as, “Why have sales been so poor lately? I can’t see any effort from you at all—you’re all slacking off,” and things like that.

She never forgets to put pressure on us before bedtime. It’s really outrageous. So you’re the only one working hard, and everyone else is slacking off? In fact, all she does is tell the employees below her to distribute DMs and call members—700 calls or more per month—and push sales. Doesn’t that count as working hard? She’s basically trying to drive the employees to the breaking point and exploit them. Great job.

3. Every day, we have to report our sales performance to the manager. If we don’t meet the sales target, we also have to listen to her lecture us at length. I feel that there really aren’t any customers in the store, yet they insist on doing this and putting pressure on the employees. What exactly is the point?

I don’t understand what the strategy is.

Pros

The only advantage is probably the sign-up bonus for getting the card (^^)

Cons

The performance pressure is intense, and the regional manager and store manager are extremely emotional.

If you don't meet your targets, they keep lecturing and pressuring you.

No matter how hard you work, they only look at the numbers.

Most importantly, they don't follow the Labor Standards Act at all.

For annual leave, employees who have worked for 1 year but less than 2 years should normally be entitled to 7 days.

But their excuse is that if you haven't worked for 2 full years, you only get 3 days.

When I resigned, they didn't pay me for the unused annual leave converted into wages either.

When a typhoon day off was announced, they didn't even ask and directly scheduled it as annual leave.

They're really awful—do they think all their employees are idiots? ==

Pros

There aren't really any advantages.

Cons

The sales pressure is intense, but instead of reviewing their own products, they constantly blame the service staff.

The pressure is so severe that if sales are zero in the morning, employees are still expected to spend their own money just to make the sales figures look a little better.

There are also family connections involved. Those at the bottom are bullied, and there are a lot of unreasonable things. Every store manager has issues and poor emotional control.

Previously, products costing over 5,000 were purchased, and they either became moldy or had material problems.

They are really not very friendly toward employees. No wonder they can't retain staff; people come and go in large numbers.

Pros

Colleagues all seem nice on the surface.

But some will badmouth or undermine you, while others are genuinely nice—you have to figure it out for yourself.

Employees can purchase Living Workshop’s own products at 70% of the regular price.

There is a bonus for signing people up for membership cards, but you don’t receive the entire bonus; some is deducted for use by the store.

There is a performance bonus when sales targets are met, but it depends on the store. At some stores, the sales targets are so high they are nearly impossible to reach.

Cons

The pressure to meet sales targets is extremely high. If you fail to meet them, you can expect to be lectured every day. Store managers are usually strange; if you upset one, they may undermine you, and then the district manager will do everything possible to get rid of you.

The job is basically manual labor. You have to know how to do everything: rearrange displays, assemble furniture, move merchandise, and move furniture. If there are no customers, they will send you out to distribute flyers or make you use a microphone to shout auction phrases. In short, they will never let you sit idle. While working, you also have to answer customer calls and calls for other stores. If another store needs inventory transferred, you have to package and ship it to them. Sometimes, when transferring inventory to another store, you also have to gauge the store manager’s mood. If you are transferring glass products or furniture, you may end up packing goods endlessly.

If something is stolen from the store, employees may be required to pay for it themselves.

There are very few advantages and countless disadvantages—I could go on forever.

I went to an interview today, so here’s an update for everyone~

Days off: 9 days in longer months, 8 days in shorter months, and 10 days in July; national holidays are added separately

Working hours: An all-day shift is 10 hours every day, including a one-hour break, but sometimes you’re the only person working

Salary:

Base salary: 19,500

Allowance: 5,000 (I’ve forgotten the exact breakdown; it should be meal + transportation + northern-region allowances)

Perfect attendance bonus: 800

Plus overtime pay for working more than one hour of overtime each day

(The store manager said it’s approximately 4,000)

There are also performance bonuses and bonuses for signing up customers for cards

Finally, after asking and learning that none of the staff at that store had been there for more than a year, I told them thanks and left (⁎⁍̴̛ᴗ⁍̴̛⁎)

Pros

It seems there really aren't any... I left because the performance pressure kept getting greater over time...

Cons

>> I personally feel that my coworkers are okay, but how the store manager leads depends on luck. Supervisors higher up will directly scold and lecture you. ((The products themselves are actually highly repetitive and impractical.

>> There are often demands that basically do not help improve performance.

>> The quality of furniture products varies greatly, so you have to be very careful during assembly. I once heard a cracking sound, but fortunately the material was bamboo, so it did not break completely XD

>> Training courses are held at the head office, which cannot be reached directly by the Taipei Metro.

>> The performance pressure is extremely high! Especially during the two major campaigns in the middle of the year and for the anniversary! ((At the store where I worked, sales had nothing to do with how hard you worked to promote and sell, because there might not even be any passersby XD

>> Store managers are reassigned every few years, which may cause difficulties adapting. ((There is also suspicion that experienced store managers are deliberately transferred to remote locations to force them out...

>> When working overtime, supervisors will tell you to clock out first, then count it as overtime in order to evade the Labor Standards Act...

Based on the points above, they can never retain employees and are always recruiting...

There are absolutely no advantages worth remembering.

Cons

The work efficiency is incredibly poor. Every day, they make you stay busy with a pile of pointless tasks. The hours are long, while the salary is barely enough to support yourself.

Coworkers always make it sound nice by calling each other partners and family, but their actions make you feel none of that.

It is a relentless mental assault—truly an awful job.
