Read the community guidelines1. I didn’t get to enjoy any benefits; I only know that the company culture is terrible.
2. It is a family-owned business, operated by the same family as Silvers International, which sells clothing for older people.
3. It appears to be a major violator of the Labor Standards Act: it does not give employees rest days, does not pay overtime, failed to report serious occupational accidents (twice within one year), and did not truthfully declare workers’ pension contributions.
In a certain month this year, half a month (literally 15 days) after I submitted my résumé, a person signing as Ms. Wei sent me a message through 104 at 9:06 a.m. on a Monday asking, “Would you be able to interview tomorrow? If you can’t, please reply and let us know when you would be available for an interview.” Since I was still employed, I could only reply during my lunch break to explain that I still had work to handle and couldn’t suddenly go for an interview the next day. I also told her that if the manager wanted to conduct the interview this week, I could take leave and accommodate the manager’s schedule on Wednesday or Thursday. As soon as I sent the message, she read it immediately, and I kept waiting for her reply (how foolish of me). Two hours later, she replied, “The company’s schedule is rather tight, so we are temporarily unable to arrange another interview time. Although we were unable to communicate with you further this time, we will retain your résumé in our talent database, ……” What kind of ridiculous reply is that?! If I don’t go to the interview tomorrow, does that mean I automatically give up the interview opportunity? Then why did she ask me about other available times—was she just asking for the sake of it?! It’s a good thing I didn’t go to the interview. The same position was still being recruited for three months later. What an arrogant company.
Sorry, I can't think of any advantages.
The system is chaotic and no one manages it—does that count?
The benefits list is extensive, but you don't get any of them. Amazing, right?
Employees with longer tenure receive less year-end bonus than those with shorter tenure because senior management rates you as failing, so you receive less. So what exactly are the evaluation criteria? They have never been announced; only senior management knows. Do you think people will still want to stay? Run while you can.
The schedule is made only once a week, and it keeps being changed. You can't even use annual leave on holidays? You can't even take a single day off on a holiday. There's not enough staff and no time to prepare ingredients, yet they blame the group leaders and shift supervisors. Disciplinary demerits affect your evaluation, and I've never received any performance bonus. No one manages the staffing shortage. The review ratings have dropped by several stars, but management still doesn't care about quality control while wanting to open new stores. Fine—good luck!
...Can train your hand muscles 😂
Starting from the second week on the job, I began working overtime like crazy... More than 10 hours of work every day 🙄 (On weekdays, two people work each day—one on the early shift and one on the late shift. When you’re assigned the early shift, get ready to work yourself to the bone because you’re definitely forced to work 1–1.5 hours of overtime 🙃)
No one covers for anyone... One person has to run the entire station... Then suddenly everyone is forced to take a two-hour break (and you may still have to return to the station area to help out during that time).
Two people have to run three stations... There are so many customers that there’s absolutely no time to prepare ingredients... Every day, I’m so exhausted that I can’t even move my hands 🙄
Couldn't find any.
The company lacks staff training and does not have proper training for supervisors!
The staffing and scheduling issues are extremely serious. Part-timers are used as full-time employees, and full-time employees who have worked at stations throughout the entire region are used as supervisors and worked to death. Then, when there is no one, the company just leaves things unattended. Even good talent will leave! The base salary is pitifully low, and the company’s terrible system means that you have to apply for overtime or compensatory time off yourself. The schedule is made once a week (including for full-time employees), and it is constantly changed! If you don’t obey, just wait and see! They’ll make your life miserable! If you want to be a slave, come here! You may have to work overtime at any time! But it’s only paid once a year!
The colleagues are easy to get along with.
In the past, when we went to support stores in other counties or cities, we received travel expense reimbursements and support allowances. Now, they use store transfers instead and provide neither allowances nor travel expense reimbursements, and they even force employees to transfer stores. Overtime pay used to be settled once every three months, but now it is settled at the end of the year. Supervisors are often required to write 500-word reflections as punishment. Although employees working at the Xinyi and Songyan stores receive regional allowances, if they are transferred to other stores that do not offer regional allowances, they cannot receive the allowance. Full-time employees who transfer to part-time positions must submit a resignation form and complete the resignation process before they can become part-time employees, and all personnel information must be resubmitted when transferring to part-time work.
Employee meals
Forcing you to take a 2-hour break, regardless of how many people are working that day
No year-end banquet; they only say it’s because of the pandemic
Forcing you to transfer stores without providing any allowance
No one forces you to push sales, but you’ll be exhausted. If supplies run out, it’s always the employees’ fault for not preparing ingredients in time
If management dislikes you, they’ll make things difficult for you. You can’t point out management’s mistakes, or you may be targeted
If you don’t obey or know how to say pleasant things, don’t expect a promotion—management won’t pay attention to you
Even though there’s no staff, they still want to open a new store in Yilan
Overtime pay can only be collected at the end of the year, but basically, when business is slow, they force you to leave work early
Employee meals
Hard to say. If you want to be a slave, come here.
