Pros

No advantages

Cons

The leave policy and attendance arrangements are also unreasonable. There was an occasion when employees were unable to work normally because the company was carrying out renovations, yet the company stipulated that employees could only take personal leave to deal with the situation. Although this was clearly due to the company's operational or renovation arrangements, employees ultimately had to take leave at their own expense, which can easily give the impression that the company's management practices prioritize the company's convenience rather than protecting employees' rights and interests.

Pros

There are currently no particular advantages worth recommending; the overall work experience is poor.

Cons

The company’s management tends to be based on personal discretion, and the way many matters are handled varies depending on the supervisor or the people involved. There are quite a few conflicts and disputes between employees and management, resulting in an overall unfriendly workplace atmosphere.

Some supervisors are relatively passive when dealing with departmental issues and fail to effectively address conflicts, exclusion, or inappropriate remarks among employees, and may even allow problems to continue. During my employment, I experienced situations in which multiple people targeted a particular employee, easily creating isolation, exclusion, and group pressure.

Pros

The work is relatively simple

Cons

1. The company lacks workforce planning (e.g., although the position is a graphic designer, the job also involves administrative, accounting, purchasing, and other duties)

2. The benefits are limited to the basics (e.g., year-end bonus and the three traditional holiday bonuses)

3. Cleaning the workplace is done on a rotating basis, so those who dislike cleaning may want to reconsider this company.

4. There are many odd coworkers (e.g., people who think they are capable just because they check 104 every day, people who push their work onto others, and emotionally unstable people)

I interviewed for the graphic design and administration position, so I’d like to share a few points that I think are worth noting:

1. This company has been around for nearly 20 years and only recently hired an HR professional. The company’s systems may finally be moving in a positive direction, but that will have to be shared by whoever gets hired in the future.

2. The company is located in a residential house, not an office building. Employees take turns serving as the person responsible for cleaning, rotating once a week. Anyone who cannot accept cleaning duties may as well not consider this company.

3. When I went there, the graphic designer was still working there and even participated in the interview, so it’s reasonable to guess that she may not be leaving because of an unpleasant conflict with the company.

4. From my conversation with HR, it was clear that the boss and the boss’s wife might not actually know what they want. If you cannot get clearer instructions from them, you may end up redoing the same thing over and over.

Finally, I think they are overly naive in wanting someone who can hand-draw while also producing drafts quickly. In my opinion, under the current circumstances, it would be unlikely for them to find someone even if they offered NT$40,000–50,000. A highly capable candidate may not necessarily be interested in joining such a small company. I hope they take this to heart and come to terms with reality.

Pros

The lady boss is very nice, and the work content is acceptable. There are also opportunities to accompany her on business trips to Hong Kong. The shop colleagues and supervisor are fairly easy to get along with.

There are quite a lot of miscellaneous tasks, mainly rebuilding the internal document system, so you need to be somewhat patient.

Cons

The office staff are unfriendly and impolite, and are gossipy. They do not really like people who are too capable. Someone who has just entered the workforce may be more suitable; people who are too capable will only arouse jealousy or be treated like idiots.

Pros

The company is located near the Legislative Yuan. Since it is inside an alley, you need to look around a little to find it. After entering, I found that it was a home-style office, and indoor slippers were required. There was a conference table in front, while farther inside was a room serving as the office area, separated from the outside. On the left was a small storage room.

The person responsible for the interview was a woman in her twenties. After briefly discussing my previous work experience, she introduced the position and the company. The company mainly wholesales and sells seafood, with most of its stores located in department stores, such as Breeze Center and Shin Kong Mitsukoshi. Unlike restaurants such as Sushi Express or Jiang Sushi, customers do not dine there. Instead, the food is prepared in a central kitchen, transported to the stores, and then sold to customers or shipped. Therefore, the company’s small storage room mainly stores packaging materials such as cooler bags.

The interviewer mainly explained that the position would serve as her assistant, supporting the company’s current administrative tasks. The main duties would be entering orders and organizing items in the warehouse, along with other support related to personnel matters. Since the company’s accounting is currently handled primarily by an accountant, the company will gradually bring matters other than business income tax back in-house in the future, although that will not happen for several years. The company’s salary and benefits were not described in detail; she only mentioned other benefits, bonuses for the three major holidays, a year-end bonus equivalent to two months’ salary, group insurance, and so on.

The entire process was comfortable. Observing the company’s environment and atmosphere, I felt that although it is a small company with fewer than ten employees, it did not have the dull, high-pressure, fast-paced, oppressive, or outdated atmosphere traditionally associated with some established industries.
