You have to work on the last Saturday of every month, but the interviewer told you that the pay for working that Saturday is included in the fixed monthly salary, which is blatantly illegal? Yet this was not disclosed at all on 104, completely wasting job seekers’ time. In addition, the office environment is cramped and messy, and the year-end bonus is only 0.5 months’ salary...

Pros

The lady boss is quite friendly and prepares seasonal desserts for special occasions.

Cons

The pay is low, the salary structure is not transparent, and there is quite a lot to do.

Although the scheduled start time is 9:00 a.m., you have to arrive at the company by 8:45 to clean; otherwise, it is counted as being late, and NT$2,000 is immediately deducted from your perfect-attendance bonus.

Although the scheduled end time is 6:00 p.m., they ask you to clock out at 6:00 and then hold a meeting, which ends close to 7:00.

One person has to handle work for three companies.

One of the older accountants speaks very rudely.

Pros

The boss is young and driven, and the company is currently developing well, with a promising future.

Cons

I submitted my résumé on Friday evening and received an interview invitation late that night for Monday afternoon. At the time, I thought the efficiency was impressive, but when I arrived, I discovered that they had invited many people to interview at once, with the order based on arrival time. I arrived 15 minutes early and started the interview about 10 minutes later. The person who arrived five minutes after me had to wait for more than half an hour.

It was difficult to find out much about the job responsibilities. Apparently, there is another person in Neihu handling international trade matters, and the details of the job would only become clear after a second interview. During the conversation, I learned that this position would work closely with that person, so the boss considered it quite important. On top of that, he cares a lot about work, so it sounded like the job would be pretty demanding. I asked him what the biggest challenge would be for someone without relevant experience. He said: “If you regard a challenge as a problem, you’ll hesitate; if you regard it as something that needs to be done, you just need to handle it.” Me: “???” (But I could only nod in agreement.)

The position is a contract role for the first three months, with the contract signed one month at a time. Whether it will be renewed depends on performance. During the first one or two months, the employee will train with the international trade team in Neihu, and the timing of the return to Taoyuan will be determined based on progress.

The boss tends to speak in terms of inspirational slogans. To be honest, he was somewhat vague, and after asking questions for quite a while, I still did not gain much insight into the job responsibilities. The boss clearly had not read my résumé and did not listen very attentively even during my self-introduction. After I finished, he still asked, “Oh, did you attend X University? Did you major in XX?” The conversation lasted about half an hour, with more than 15 minutes spent talking about himself. I could tell that the boss has ideas and the ability to execute them, but perhaps the pride of having built the company from scratch has left him immersed in his own success. He repeatedly brought up past achievements that he seemed quite proud of, which became a little irritating after a while.

The Taoyuan plant is a factory with several offices built inside. The interior and restrooms use tiles distributed by the company, and you can see some thoughtful touches and care. However, the interview arrangements reflected a somewhat old-school boss mentality: they were not very respectful to candidates and felt a bit like they were hiring indiscriminately. Still, people who admire the boss’s drive and attitude toward work may want to give it a try.

Pros

If you are the first to arrive, you can get through the interview quickly. Everyone else has to queue one by one, waiting for the person ahead to finish.

The boss is young and driven, and takes matters related to the company and work very seriously. The company’s prospects look promising. If you are willing to learn and take on challenges together with them...

After the interview, it’s no wonder this company has such a high turnover rate among its sales staff.

Every policy the company has for new employees protects the company itself and is inequitable toward employees.

You have to go to the factory for inventory counting one Saturday every month. In addition, new employees are hired on a monthly contract basis, and if they feel you’re not a good fit, they’ll ask you to leave.
