汰遠國際貿易有限公司
Pros

If you are the first to arrive, you can get through the interview quickly. Everyone else has to queue one by one, waiting for the person ahead to finish.

The boss is young and driven, and takes matters related to the company and work very seriously. The company’s prospects look promising. If you are willing to learn and take on challenges together with them...

Cons

I submitted my résumé on Friday evening and received an invitation late that same night for an interview on Monday afternoon. At the time, I thought the efficiency was impressive, but when I arrived, I discovered that they had invited many people to interview at once, with the order determined by arrival time. I arrived 15 minutes early, and the interview began about 10 minutes later. The person who arrived five minutes after me ended up waiting for more than half an hour. I could not learn much about the job duties. It seemed that someone in Neihu handled the international trade matters, and the job details would only become clear after a second interview. During the conversation, I learned that this position would work closely with that person, so the boss considered it quite important. In addition, he cares a lot about work, so the job sounded fairly demanding. I asked him what the biggest challenge would be for someone without relevant experience. He said: “If you treat a challenge as a problem, you will hesitate; if you treat it as something to do, you just need to handle it.” Me: ??? (But I could only nod to indicate agreement).

The position is contract-based for the first three months, with the contract renewed one month at a time. Whether it will be renewed depends on performance. During the first one or two months, you will learn from the international trade team in Neihu, and when you return to Taoyuan will be determined according to your progress.

The boss tends to speak in the style of motivational, feel-good clichés. To be honest, he was somewhat vague, and after asking questions for quite a while, I still did not gain much understanding of the job duties. The boss clearly had not read my résumé and did not listen very attentively even during my self-introduction. After I finished, he still asked, “Oh, did you attend X University? Did you major in XX?” The interview lasted about half an hour, and more than 15 minutes were spent talking about himself. I could tell that the boss had ideas and the ability to execute them, but perhaps the pride of having built the business from scratch had left him intoxicated by his own success. He repeatedly brought up some rather impressive things from his past, which became a little irritating over time.

The Taoyuan plant is a factory with several offices built inside. The interior fixtures and restrooms use tiles distributed by the company, showing some thoughtful details and care. However, the way the interviews were arranged reflected a somewhat old-school boss mentality: it was not very respectful to the interviewees and felt a bit like casting a wide net. Still, those who appreciate the boss’s drive and work attitude may want to give it a try.
