Pros

Stable salary, friendly coworkers, and a clean work environment

Cons

The interview process was very pleasant~

I’d like to share some experiences I encountered at work.

The manager and coworkers are quite nice (thank you all for maintaining such good relationships despite the current circumstances~). I hope there will be a little less emotional pressure in the future. For example: during a certain year’s presidential election, the boss sent an email to all employees asking us to vote for Mr. Fish Fish, and one day the entire company was called into a meeting room, where the boss asked those who were willing to sign a referendum petition that leaned more toward the blue camp. Perhaps it would be more convenient to send them all together to the relevant authorities?! (It was a petition related to restarting Nuclear No. 4; of course, those who were not interested could simply return to the office without signing!) Finally, all employees are required to attend company dinners. If someone cannot participate on the scheduled date, the date will be changed out of consideration for those who cannot attend! That’s all from a junior employee~I hope there will one day be fair treatment between labor and management, and then world peace. Thank you.

Pros

If you have good educational qualifications, the salary will not be too bad.

Each desk is separated by partitions, and the office space is large, providing a sense of personal privacy.

Colleagues are generally young and easy to talk to. Lunch is provided (for a fee, but it is very inexpensive).

The lunch break is long enough to take a short nap.

Cons

【The following is a real experience of leaving during the probationary period after being hired, provided as a reference for those considering applying or interviewing】

The offer letter received upon hiring and the contract signed on the first day of employment both listed the job title as “Assistant,” rather than the position originally applied for. The company explained that the official title would be changed only after successfully completing the probationary period.

The three-month probationary period was contracted on a【one-month-at-a-time basis】. The contract was made in a single copy, and the employee did not receive a paper copy (I did not ask for one, so I am unsure whether I would have received it if I had requested it).

During the probationary period, there was an exam every week, including practical tasks and short-answer questions about the company’s SOPs. At the end of each month, there was another major exam. In addition to practical tasks and short-answer questions (memorizing the SOP content), it also included several short writing assignments covering topics such as personal reflections on life and career.

The short writing assignments could be regarded as a test of compatibility with the company. If you answered honestly about your thoughts and, unfortunately, the company was dissatisfied with your personality or other performance, you could be dismissed at any time after the exam on the grounds that you had【failed the assessment and would not be rehired】 (even if your exam scores were not poor). Furthermore, because the previous contract was signed on a【one-month-at-a-time basis】, the company could claim that it was【simply the expiration of the contract, not a layoff】, meaning that legal protections applicable to laid-off employees would not apply.

Therefore, be sure to understand that during the first three months, the【one-month-at-a-time contract】 is effectively【temporary employment】 from the company’s perspective. There is a possibility of being dismissed every month during the probationary period. It is recommended that you mentally prepare for【being hired after an interview does not mean being employed long term】 before starting work, to avoid wasting one or two months of job searching and missing out on protections such as severance pay.

As an additional note, the company is a family business. Some of the benefits listed on the job-search website are available only to senior employees. There is no overtime pay for the first hour of overtime.

Pros

Pros

Overtime pay is provided (but they’re afraid of being penalized, so they won’t let you work beyond a certain number of hours), starting salary is NT$23,000, and they really like hiring fresh graduates.

Cons

There are many rules during the probationary period, and reportedly the raise afterward is only NT$1,000. The first hour after work does not count as overtime; they make it sound like they’re letting you go eat, but people around you cling to their desks and refuse to leave, so fresh graduates don’t dare leave first and end up working unpaid overtime until all their coworkers have left. They also keep expecting everyone to cooperate with activities held on holidays. They frequently send articles based on upper management’s perspective and tell everyone to read them carefully. There are many rules, the pay is very low, and even when you resign, you have to attend an exit interview before you can leave.

Pros

Overtime pay is provided, and starting salary is NT$22,000 or more. They love using fresh university graduates as expendable labor. Ever since they were reported for making employees work on national holidays, they’ve started giving them off—congratulations.

Cons

Salary increases are minimal—roughly NT$3,000 every three years. They love holding company activities on employees’ days off. During peak season, it’s unbearably busy; when the warehouse is short-staffed, the graphic designers have to go downstairs to move goods. Haha. If you want to resign, they’ll try to pressure you into using up your annual leave.

Pros

Overtime pay is provided. It’s a training ground for newcomers; because the company was previously reported for having employees work on national holidays, holidays are now off whenever they fall on a red-letter day. ^^

Cons

They extremely favor hiring newcomers, with salaries starting at 22K. Salary increases are extremely slow, and the turnover rate is fairly high. They specifically favor obedient, compliant employees. If they hire someone but think the negotiated salary is too high, they will find various excuses to make that person leave. People who know how to curry favor can do very well in the company.

When an employee leaves and wants to cash out unused annual leave, they won’t allow it. Current employees who request annual leave will be called in for a meeting and questioned in detail about their mother, father, and great-grandparent.

They really like holding running events and other lectures on holidays. If you don’t attend, you may be hassled for not participating in company activities; however, if you do attend, they will count it as paid working time. Drinking Starbucks or Lin Feng-ying milk is not allowed.
