Pros

You’ll only get ahead if you follow the right manager.

Cons

Because HR is the de facto general manager, people under them can take nearly three months of working from home after injuring themselves while on leave, while employees from other departments come to work on crutches even after serious car accidents.

Pros

Managers sometimes buy drinks, cookies, and the like.

Cons

Some managers are highly emotional and have bad tempers, making them prone to losing control! They are overly power-oriented, and their words and actions can easily lead to bullying without their realizing it. The workload can be heavy at times, and situations vary widely. Some colleagues will report other colleagues to managers for their own benefit, creating factions. There is a great deal of intrigue and infighting. Salaries are not adjusted—in most positions, the company has already decided how much the position pays, leaving almost no room for negotiation. It is a place that seems good on the surface, but where people harbor many ulterior motives and schemes behind the scenes.

Pros

Sometimes the managers treat us to drinks.

Cons

I have encountered a colleague, Wei-Bao, who causes trouble and has a more extreme and abrasive personality. He tends to cause trouble and would privately message supervisors on LINE to speak ill of others and belittle them in order to make himself look better. Later, it was discovered that many people actually disliked him. Even the supervisor realized that he had problems to a certain extent, but in a certain sense could not say so. As a result, he could not know that he might have some unhealthy issues psychologically and had not sought medical attention. There was too much negative energy and heavy negative karma, which was easily brought home to his family. I feel that in the end, this would implicate his family and children, causing them to bear undesirable karmic consequences.

Pros

The overtime pay is relatively high, but the workforce is correspondingly smaller.

Cons

There is an employee, Q-Wei, whose personality is extreme and whose manner is unusually sharp. He has a foul mouth, likes to nitpick, likes to act like the boss and cause trouble, and also enjoys working behind the scenes—secretly undermining supervisors and filing petty reports. (The company can easily be led astray and become chaotic; he creates heavy negative karma through his speech. From a karmic perspective, it may all come back to his children and elders! He is simply unaware of it.) People like this can indeed easily face immediate consequences, with the retribution being transferred to their family members and friends (referred to as karma).

Sometimes supervisors treat us to drinks

Cons

The Yunlin plant was not a very good place to work in quality control. There were many miscellaneous and complicated tasks, the pace was very fast, and everything was urgent—everything was treated as an urgent matter. There was gossip and people making reports behind others’ backs, and many cliques. Management was done via LINE. Some supervisors were emotional and could easily lose control. Some colleagues also had serious issues; some engaged in verbal bullying and formed cliques. Some people wanted to gain attention and bad-mouthed other colleagues—two-faced people. Some had very extreme views and insisted on winning every argument. They were narrow-minded, liked to pretend to be nice in public, made sarcastic remarks, loved comparing themselves to others, and were combative—the kind of people who were frightening. There were many people with unusual personalities. I do not recommend it.

Pros

The hourly overtime pay is relatively high; it feels higher than at private companies.

Cons

1. Incoming and outgoing shipments are handled under tight deadlines, essentially requiring an on-call status. Most urgent orders must be completed the same day, making the work feel very time-sensitive. There is some pressure, and interactions with some people feel rather superficial. Supervisors use LINE to follow up on progress. Salary adjustments are infrequent; some employees go five to six years before receiving an increase of only a few hundred dollars. (This aspect is relatively poor.)

2. When there is a lot of overtime, it takes up most of the time. Sometimes employees leave work late, and they also have to cooperate with overtime on holidays. There is relatively little personal time.

3. There are few opportunities for promotion, and having a good relationship with the supervisor is also necessary.

Pros

Analyst

You can spend your workday freely scrolling on your phone and playing games.

The pay for working overtime on holidays is decent, so if you want to work six days a week, you can come here.

If you speak loudly enough, your supervisor may not necessarily be able to do anything about you.

The supervisor’s management style is semi hands-off.

It is recommended not to stay too long. During the probationary period, think carefully about what kind of life you want to live.

Cons

The training for new employees is extremely poor.

You have to pass through many doors to get from the old cleanroom to the new cleanroom.

The actual work does not match the job description.

The attitude of some coworkers toward their work…

The supervisors want to identify problems, but do not know where to start…

To report problems, LINE is faster…

Pros

A Japanese company; you’ll interact with many Japanese people.

The working hours are fairly stable, and you get all the leave you’re entitled to.

Cons

The salary isn’t high... It’s a responsibility-based system.

Management will follow up on progress via LINE, so it’s somewhat like being on call half the time.

If you’re looking to build your skills, there isn’t much experience to be gained.

They ask people to come for an interview without explaining anything clearly. As a result, I encountered three Japanese people in a single interview and was also verbally attacked. If your Japanese and English aren’t good, don’t go—you’ll only get grilled.
