HR lady, I’m here for a job interview, not to apply for a loan.

I was asked to fill in my family members’ names, their occupations and ages, my previous salary, my national ID number, emergency contact information, and so on…

I don’t understand. I’m only interviewing, and I haven’t even joined the company yet. What on earth do you need all this information for? When I asked about the job duties, you couldn’t even explain them clearly.

It gave me the feeling of those unsolicited calls where someone says that, for some reason, they need some of your personal information.

Pros

The company environment looks pretty good.

Cons

There were an absurd number of test papers to complete during the interview. It took about two hours just to finish them all.

The English test in particular was printed so poorly that the text was blurry and difficult to read.

For the mold-related questions, I thought asking about the differences between three-plate molds and two-plate molds would have been enough. Instead, this company actually required candidates to draw a mold.

I could only draw a rough outline of the mold. Naturally, I was later criticized for not drawing it precisely enough (!?)

I really admire the people who managed to get hired—what a grueling exam to endure.

After the written test, there was also a hands-on drawing test using a computer. We were given an empty shell and asked to draw its structure.

Of course, for an exam, I simply drew the structure of a top and bottom cover.

Naturally, I was again told that the drawing was not detailed enough. Come on, is this still an interview?

Finally, after nearly four hours of this ordeal, it was time for the interview. By then, I had no energy left for it.

The manager also looked impatient, flipped through my test papers, and said that the interview was over.

This was the worst interview experience I have ever had at any company. Anyone who receives an interview invitation should be mentally prepared.

None at all

Cons

The experiences shared by the previous interviewees are indeed accurate.

Only after arriving on-site did I find out that I had to fill out a pile of forms and take a bunch of tests.

The tests included a logic test, an English test (junior-high-school level), and an aptitude test.

Interviewees could only sit in a transparent meeting room without a door, located right outside the elevator.

HR only came to collect the information and hand out the test papers; they did not mention any company benefits, salary, year-end bonus, or holiday bonuses at all.

It was obvious at a glance that they were only looking for people to help HR boost its performance figures.

Anyone coming for an interview should be mentally prepared for it to take at least two or three hours.

If the interview position is in areas such as mechanical design, product ID, or packaging, you also have to take a Creo hands-on test (they never mentioned beforehand that there would be a hands-on test).

After the hands-on test, the interviewing supervisor then proceeds to belittle or criticize you in various ways based on your previous work experience and education,

so that she can lower your salary after hiring you.

All I can say is that this company is not worth interviewing with. It is a complete waste of time and shows no respect for interviewees.

Pros

Cons

Compilation of interview experiences and work-related discussions shared across various forums

Handing over your phone upon arriving for the interview

Filling out forms in the lobby, taking a written test, and having an interview

Too many forms to fill out and too much content in the written test

For most people, only an HR representative interviews you

Unwilling to introduce the company’s policies and benefits

Unwilling to explain the work environment and duties in detail

Wanting to collect job applicants’ personal information

Wanting to collect information about job applicants’ family members

Wanting to inquire about salary levels across various industries

Wanting to use job applicants to meet performance targets

The interview is extremely brief

Making job applicants feel disrespected

No notification of any kind after the interview

Low starting salary, fast pace, heavy workload, and frequent overtime

It is the end of the year, and HR departments at various companies have started looking for people to interview in order to meet performance targets. If job applicants do not want to waste time, they can search for shared experiences on various forums.

You must record it, you must record it, you must record it, you must record it.

Pros

The lobby was clean

Cons

The atmosphere throughout the interview made me feel as though I had been summoned to be reprimanded. It inevitably made me wonder whether this was truly a sincere interview of a job applicant, or whether they had brought someone in to vent their anger and frustration. This kind of interview approach not only lacks respect, but also raises doubts about the company culture.

A very bad interview experience. The interviewing organization required three written tests; I had never been asked to write so many pages before. The English test alone was an entire booklet, and the logic test was impossible to understand—I had no idea what it was testing. It felt like they were just messing with people. Be prepared for a two-hour test, followed by an on-computer design drawing test. In addition, they required applicants to fill out their standard résumé and provide personal information, including an ID number, family circumstances, parents’ names and occupations, phone numbers, character references, and other personal data. They tested a lot of content unrelated to the job’s professional requirements. After I submitted the tests, they casually said that the supervisor would no longer be conducting interviews. I had taken time off work specifically for this interview, so this was extremely disrespectful. The air conditioning was very cold and my throat hurt; they did not even provide a glass of water when I asked. It was incredibly cruel and a waste of other people’s time.

The lobby is clean and beautiful.

Cons

1. You fill out the interview form in the lobby and are required to hand over your phone. Most of the form consists of personal and family information unrelated to the job, which makes it feel as though they only want to collect the interviewee’s personal data. The interview is also conducted in the lobby, making it difficult to hear what the interviewer is saying.

2. The first interview is presumably with HR, who asks about your previous job responsibilities. However, the company’s introduction is vague and cursory, as though they have little interest in explaining anything. It feels like HR is just going through the motions—as if they are even too lazy to update the registered capital on 104.

3. The next interview is presumably with the department manager, who also asks about your previous job responsibilities. However, when you want to understand more about the actual work, the answers are again vague and evasive—extremely mysterious.

It is a fairly sizable company, so presumably many people want to join, yet it is constantly hiring. The interview experience also makes you feel that they are only trying to collect information. For those planning to interview, I recommend filling in the personal-information section only after confirming that you have been hired, in order to protect yourself and your family.

Pros

The environment is very clean, and the office is neatly arranged.

Cons

The interview process was a very poor experience. I do not recommend applying to this company. After the interview, I came away feeling that something was off. I checked online and found that the reviews were not very good, and it is also a perennial job posting. I do not know whether they are genuinely hiring or just posting it for appearances. They asked about many things during the process, and there was a somewhat condescending feeling. The company chooses candidates, and job seekers also choose companies; it goes both ways. I did not feel that this company offered particularly good compensation or benefits. Being questioned felt like I was conducting market research for another company. I came away with a very bad impression, and HR will not notify you whether you were hired.

Pros

Beautiful and clean environment; clear interview SOP.

Cons

1. After the interview, I asked approximately how long it would take to receive a notification. HR directly stated that there would be no notification. If they were just looking to inflate their performance metrics by interviewing candidates, they could at least have made it look more convincing.

2. Because it is a very traditional company, HR may not be familiar with your area of expertise.

3. The interviewer merely read from a script and gave a standard introduction, giving the impression that they were not genuinely looking to hire. They could hardly explain any details about the job responsibilities.

Pros

The entire building belongs to the company, and it is clean and beautiful.

Cons

1. As soon as I arrived, I had to spend two hours taking tests: 10 Node.js questions, 10 PHP questions, a JavaScript test (the test paper was missing questions and started directly from Question 7; Questions 1–6 had disappeared, which shows that HR did not check it), a logic test, and an English test. It was honestly the first time I had written so many things at once—nearly as much as a student’s exam~

2. The interview location was a semi-open space just outside the elevator where I had to write the tests. Many people were coming and going on the elevator, so I was interrupted while writing the tests and during the interview.

3. HR was extremely unprofessional. They did not come at the agreed time to collect the test papers. I called their mobile phone to ask them to come, and still had to wait for quite a while. After they collected the papers, there was another long wait... I originally thought that if no one came to interview me within 20 minutes, I would just leave. Fortunately, they did come within 20 minutes.

4. The company contacted me first. I work in front-end web development, and when I saw that the job posting said “full-stack/front-end,” I was concerned because I do not know back-end development. To avoid making a wasted trip, I emailed to confirm and was told that the position was not limited to either front-end or back-end, that they were willing to provide a full-stack environment, and that people willing to take on the challenge were welcome to apply. I have to admit that I misunderstood what they meant and thought I could work only on the front end. However, at the beginning of the interview, while I was introducing myself, the manager (I assume; there were three interviewers, and this person looked more senior) pointed out that the job would not involve only front-end work. I clearly said that if it was a full-stack position, I was sorry for misunderstanding and did not want to waste their time, so they could end the interview immediately. The manager then started lecturing me, saying things like, “If you only write front end and don’t understand back end, how are you supposed to write [applications]?”... I couldn’t listen any longer. I said for the second time that they could end the interview immediately.

I think that if the company wants full-stack talent, it should not use an ambiguous title like “Hiring Full-Stack / Front-End Engineer” in the job posting. I will treat this experience as a lesson learned and hope it provides some reference for people who are going to interview there.
