Pros

The entire building belongs to the company, and it is clean and beautiful.

Cons

1. As soon as I arrived, I had to spend two hours taking tests: 10 Node.js questions, 10 PHP questions, a JavaScript test (the test paper was missing questions and started directly from Question 7; Questions 1–6 had disappeared, which shows that HR did not check it), a logic test, and an English test. It was honestly the first time I had written so many things at once—nearly as much as a student’s exam~

2. The interview location was a semi-open space just outside the elevator where I had to write the tests. Many people were coming and going on the elevator, so I was interrupted while writing the tests and during the interview.

3. HR was extremely unprofessional. They did not come at the agreed time to collect the test papers. I called their mobile phone to ask them to come, and still had to wait for quite a while. After they collected the papers, there was another long wait... I originally thought that if no one came to interview me within 20 minutes, I would just leave. Fortunately, they did come within 20 minutes.

4. The company contacted me first. I work in front-end web development, and when I saw that the job posting said “full-stack/front-end,” I was concerned because I do not know back-end development. To avoid making a wasted trip, I emailed to confirm and was told that the position was not limited to either front-end or back-end, that they were willing to provide a full-stack environment, and that people willing to take on the challenge were welcome to apply. I have to admit that I misunderstood what they meant and thought I could work only on the front end. However, at the beginning of the interview, while I was introducing myself, the manager (I assume; there were three interviewers, and this person looked more senior) pointed out that the job would not involve only front-end work. I clearly said that if it was a full-stack position, I was sorry for misunderstanding and did not want to waste their time, so they could end the interview immediately. The manager then started lecturing me, saying things like, “If you only write front end and don’t understand back end, how are you supposed to write [applications]?”... I couldn’t listen any longer. I said for the second time that they could end the interview immediately.

I think that if the company wants full-stack talent, it should not use an ambiguous title like “Hiring Full-Stack / Front-End Engineer” in the job posting. I will treat this experience as a lesson learned and hope it provides some reference for people who are going to interview there.
