Pros

The pay in central and southern Taiwan is decent enough to make a living.

Cons

The previous foreign chairman was still fairly acceptable, but things got even worse after the Taiwanese chairman took over.

They manage the entire company using the methods of a regional manager, and during annual performance reviews they nitpick just for the sake of nitpicking.

They only know how to talk nonsense, and because they worked their way up from the frontline, they are even more prone to micromanaging frontline staff.

But this is not the direction a chairman should be taking.

The company has nothing left but a big name; its back-office operations are a complete mess, and there is no effort to improve them.

They have a big-boss mentality and think customers will accept it? The market is already in the red-ocean era, so the company should be competing on service in the first place.

Yet after taking office, they still did nothing to improve the back office and only nitpick over every little thing.

They have none of the perspective expected of a chairman.

They have completely lost sight of priorities. Having risen from the frontline, shouldn't they know the company's weaknesses in the market?

Why can Taiwan's least experienced regional manager

become chairman?? Haha....

There is also an exceptionally bizarre person at headquarters, the one in charge of the money.

They abuse the employee welfare funds and only want to impose one-person rule.

They have reduced the welfare committee to nothing more than a rubber stamp.

A sham democracy and true authoritarianism.

If she were not in that position,

and if the welfare committee regulations did not lack sufficient enforcement power,

she would have been ousted long ago.

I worked as an assembly worker at the company’s temperature-controlled center. I initially thought it would simply involve assembly, but it turned out to cover almost everything: fetching materials, removing outer packaging, assembly, repackaging, and then taking the materials to the warehouse for shipment. Only three people handled all of these tasks. Now, because of orders from semiconductor plants, we have to assemble more than ten to over twenty temperature-controlled units every day. If we cannot finish, we have to work overtime to meet the deadlines, and we also have to endure verbal bullying from engineers. They even tell you, “I’m just more direct when I speak; I mean no harm.” They claim this job is easy and comfortable, and that no one will bother you if you use your phone when there are no machines to assemble—I have never experienced that. The duties mentioned above do not even include adding coolant for certain models or dismantling wooden crates for large machines; all of this is within your scope of work. The sales department keeps accepting orders frantically without caring whether the staff below can actually complete them. The scheduling staff and assembly team leader also have no effective solutions. The work area is cramped and extremely messy, and the only place to rest is a small round table. There is not even a break room. The restroom reeks, and even the cleaning lady only comes to collect the trash once every several days. There is a one-hour lunch break, but no additional break time in the morning or afternoon. You have to pay for your own meals at lunchtime and when working overtime in the evening. I had had enough after not even a month. Those who think they can withstand this are welcome to give it a try.

Pros

The company’s business hardly ever requires overtime.

Cons

A lot of the old equipment inside is broken, and it often takes a long time before someone is called to repair it. The efficiency is extremely poor; I don’t know what is wrong with the person in charge.

Pros

The starting salary is only 26–28k. Even those who have been here for 10 years only get 3k more. The promotion allowance is 500, and the transportation subsidy is also an illusion. Then they fool everyone into thinking the compensation is over 4k, as if it would be something to brag about. So great~!

For the year-end banquet, they just sneak off to Noble Family and laugh, and then the boss cannot even say a word of thanks to the employees (no words of gratitude toward employees)—zero interaction.

Cons

Although it is one of the world’s top few hundred multinational companies, the boss is white-skinned. It looks like a foreign company, but actually is not. The boss does not respect Taiwanese employees, which can be clearly felt from his usual treatment of people and way of handling matters. The system he has created is extremely inefficient, with many meaningless meetings, reports, and lectures. Meetings can easily last more than eight hours. Whenever employees raise an issue with him, he makes it clear that he only wants to hear pleasant things; he does not want to hear anything unpleasant or problematic. Even when employees want support from the company, it cannot provide it. Meaningless and inefficient things keep happening. Clearly, time could be saved by avoiding things that cannot be achieved in the first place, but conflicts with employees are severe because he often acts for his own benefit—a vicious cycle!

*Employees are required to use their own salary to purchase high-limit passenger insurance in order to receive the car allowance, because the boss rides in employees’ cars to visit clients.

*He likes to make unrealistic demands and is unwilling to make practical improvements.

*The company always takes the attitude that its products have no problems externally. Once something goes wrong, employees have to go out and apologize themselves, and may even have to pay out of their own pockets to compensate the client.

*With more than a hundred employees, there is not even a welfare committee.

*The boss prohibits employees from becoming too close to one another, even from holding private gatherings or meals together.

*The Labor Standards Act stipulates a meal subsidy of 1,800. After raising this issue to management many times and pointing out that the amount was insufficient, the response was: “We have already made up for it elsewhere.” In reality, the salary was not adjusted at all; it was merely brushed over.

*Employees are prohibited from driving high-end car models. Here, seeing a Volkswagen is already considered the best. What kind of car an employee drives does not affect their work, does it?

*“The old employees don’t complain, so what gives you new hires the right to raise questions?” A vicious cycle.
