Pros

The highest salary among peers

Cons

My résumé clearly stated that I’m not from the relevant field. They had read it and invited me to an interview, yet during the interview they kept emphasizing that my background was unrelated and that this made them very worried == If they were so worried, why invite me to interview me in the first place…?

They also asked me to provide my university transcript for reference. Well, I already said I’m not from the relevant field—what is the point of looking at my academic record?

The interviewer also criticized my previous company right in front of me ^_^ Very unprofessional.

Overall, it was an interview experience that felt extremely time-wasting and very disrespectful to job seekers.

Pros

The salary and benefits are good.

The environment also seems pretty decent.

Cons

There were three interviews, and for two of them I had to complete assignments that took quite a bit of time. All in all, I spent a month interviewing with Kang Hsuan. After the third interview, they asked whether I had definitely decided that I wanted to join Kang Hsuan, saying that only then could they arrange a fourth interview. At the time, I wanted to interview with another company again, so I postponed the fourth interview. As a result, I was told that I had not been selected. After such a lengthy interview process, I only realized toward the end that they did not seem to be choosing talent, but rather selecting for loyalty to their beliefs.

Pros

1. Lunch is provided.

2. Labor and health insurance are provided, along with a perfect-attendance bonus.

3. For overtime, you can choose either compensatory leave or overtime pay.

Cons

1. There are many meetings, but they never reach any substantive conclusions. Meetings also take up too much time, so you can’t finish your work without working overtime.

(Example 1: The vice president asked what the projected market share would be for the following year. A colleague answered, “40%.” The vice president said, “Great, I like that attitude. Have a seat!”)

(Example 2: The vice president asked how to improve the declining market share. The group leader replied, “Some of our teachers have given feedback that several lessons are difficult to teach, so after evaluating the situation, we decided to replace those lessons with the same versions as those in the textbook with the best market share!” The vice president said, “Okay.”)

2. There are many tasks, and the department is very busy. Sometimes, even when the training has not explained things clearly, you are expected to start working immediately (on my second day at the job, I was told to submit the first proof of a certain book by the following week). Then, if the result does not meet the supervisor’s expectations, they scold you. When I pointed out that the training had not covered it at all, the supervisor said, “Then you should have observed and figured it out yourself!”

3. The supervisor assigned a senior colleague to help review my work. After I revised it according to the senior colleague’s feedback, the supervisor demanded major revisions before sending it out for a sample review and then accused me of delaying the production schedule.

4. When you take leave, the supervisor dumps work that other colleagues could not finish on you and says it must be submitted on the day you return to work.

5. As an editor of humanities textbooks, I was told by a colleague, “Yue Fei was a historical figure from the Han dynasty.” I’m truly worried about the education system.

6. The supervisor told everyone in the department to avoid clocking out on time whenever possible: “The boss will think you’re not working hard if you’re able to leave exactly on time.” Likewise, going to lunch on time would also attract “concern.”

7. A colleague spent an entire afternoon browsing Facebook and then worked overtime until late at night, and was considered extremely hardworking.

8. When I told my supervisor I was resigning, they said: “If you resign, we won’t be able to finish all the work.” “My normally strict demands are all for your own good.” “You won’t be able to work in the publishing industry anymore after this.”

This was truly the most painful job I’ve ever had. It was physically and mentally exhausting.

Pros

Lunch is provided, and you can choose what you want to eat.

The desks have partitions, so you don’t have to see the faces of colleagues sitting across from you.

Cons

The atmosphere of infighting among the female content editors is somewhat serious, but it depends on which department you’re in.

The supervisor seems rather incompetent, although the supervisors in other departments seem quite capable.

Meetings are very boring, and many of the women like to undermine one another.

Originally, a video interview had been arranged, but then I was told that the supervisor was unavailable and that it needed to be rescheduled.

Fortunately, the meeting room I had rented could be canceled.

After rescheduling, I was told again that the interview would still primarily be conducted by video,

so I booked the meeting room again.

However, only 3.5 hours before the interview on the day itself, I was informed that

the interviewing supervisor still wanted to conduct it by phone.

..........................(speechless)

This time, I really ended up wasting the rental fee for nothing.

*****************************************************************

During the interview, the supervisor directly told me that all the current employees had been with the company for a long time,

and that there was no one with as much experience as I have.

They were worried that I would not stay long,

and moreover, the salary they could offer me was even lower than the salary I was earning when I left my previous-previous company six years ago.

I thought to myself:

I had listed the salary for every job on the résumé I submitted,

and had also stated my expected compensation.

Are they just trying to boost their interview numbers now?

Cons

1. The textbook content is boring

2. The company’s internal systems and processes are numerous and tedious

Pros

Good salary.

Cons

The benefits appear to be excellent and the organization well-established, but the treatment you receive after joining depends greatly on your immediate supervisor. Some supervisors show very clear favoritism yet seem completely unaware of it, and the standards for work assignments and performance evaluations fluctuate considerably. If you submit a request for adjustments through the proper channels, not only will it usually fail to be approved, but your supervisor will often undermine you, and you will continue to be singled out.

Pros

Applied for a graphic editor position

1. The interviewer was friendly and kind

2. The work environment at this large company was nice and comfortable

3. The atmosphere among colleagues was harmonious

4. There was a simple test related to the job responsibilities

5. The boss places importance on employees' health

6. All the standard benefits are provided

Cons

1. There was a test before the interview (similar to a personality test?), with a huge number of questions... You also had to fill in detailed personal information... (height, weight, BMI, who lives at home, etc.) It was outrageous—why do I have to tell you that? Haha

2. Overtime is common, but you can take compensatory leave

3. There is a second interview after the first one; if you don't make it to the second round, you won't know the salary, haha

4. Xindian District is relatively remote

Pros

Lunch is provided, and the food is fairly good. The chairman takes reasonably good care of the employees.

Cons

1. Anyone joining as an HR professional should be mentally prepared for long-term overtime. The company uses a system developed in-house many years ago (IBM Lotus Notes), which is not very user-friendly. HR has to spend a lot of time using Excel for post-processing; otherwise, they have to wait for IT to write a special program. (However, IT is highly cooperative and efficient.) Email also uses an IBM system, so people accustomed to using Outlook may need quite some time to adjust.

2. HR currently falls under the supervision of the Executive Vice President of Finance, who is a highly respected senior executive. His work attitude and professionalism are both admirable. However, I do not need to say much about the difficulties that can arise when HR is managed by someone with a finance background; HR professionals should be able to understand.

3. In day-to-day work, HR administration accounts for the majority of the tasks. If you hope to grow in planning or are an HR professional considering rapid career development in the future, this may not be the right place for you. For HR professionals seeking stability, it could be worth considering if you can accept long-term overtime and standardized, relatively limited salary increases.

Pros

1. The system is well established, and all regulations at least comply with the minimum requirements of the Labor Standards Act.

2. Although the increases are not substantial, as long as performance evaluations are not poor, there will be some salary adjustment.

3. Lunch is provided.

4. Exercise is encouraged. The company has a swimming pool and a small sports field, and also provides partial subsidies for sports competitions and hiking expenses.

Cons

Managers' character and conduct vary considerably:

1. It is often heard that someone is called into a meeting room to sign a mysterious “fixed-term improvement notice,” which is then taken away. After some time, the employee is told that they have failed to meet the improvement standards and is dismissed. However, this principle is not explained when the notice is signed, and the notice is taken away immediately after signing, preventing the employee from retaining it or taking it home to discuss with a lawyer before signing.

2. Verbal humiliation, workplace bullying, and the deliberate long-term assignment of low-achievement work followed by using it to belittle employees are often carried out under the guise of a seemingly polite attitude. This appears to involve pressuring employees to resign despite the absence of serious misconduct.

3. Probationary periods are extended indefinitely—sometimes for more than six months—without discussion or notification. Employees are then told that they have failed probation, but instead of being laid off through the normal procedure and given leave to seek employment, they are pressured to sign a voluntary resignation form.

Cons

1. The interviewer has outdated ideas

2. Because I had no relevant experience, they actually proposed the insulting practice of paying me an hourly wage (the basic starting wage) during the probationary period. I wasn’t applying for a part-time job!
