Pros

Colleagues get along well, and there is a strong sense of camaraderie.

My speed and understanding of computer-aided drafting improved very quickly.

I interacted well with clients at work, and their feedback was gratifying.

Cons

1. The manager leads the formation of cliques.

Although the office is an open space, the manager would quietly gather certain colleagues and speak to them in extremely low voices. These were not meetings or team meetings, and it seemed intended to divide relationships among colleagues.

2. The manager touches your personal belongings.

After returning from leave, I found that things on my desk had been moved.

3. The manager is extremely emotional.

They would become grumpy over not knowing what takeout to order for lunch.

However, whether they lost their temper depended on their relationship with the employee.

4. The rules and procedures are excessively cumbersome.

The same form has to be completed by hand, entered into the computer, and then handwritten again for filing.

It feels like living in the 1990s.

4. The busy and slow seasons are clearly distinct.

New employees are hired right before the busy season, then dismissed according to the manager’s mood after the busy season ends. Basically, the manager’s and the family elders’ emotions come first.

5. The manager themselves was asked to resign by an elder of the family business.

In short, the company is still packaged as an open-minded traditional family business. Even managers who appear to interact well with family members may face being replaced by a parachuted-in hire or being dismissed for having too high a salary.

Pros

Colleagues get along well.

Cons

1. There is no management system. The company’s so-called system is whatever the boss says—what they say goes, and it can change at any time.

2. The supervisor has no ability to solve problems, only the ability to talk and curry favor with those in power.

3. The supervisor cannot take responsibility. Any problem is blamed on employees, but when an employee is praised by the boss for their performance, the supervisor will opportunistically step in to take credit.

4. The supervisor speaks disrespectfully to people, making employees very uncomfortable.

5. The supervisor is sexist and, under the guise of joking, makes discriminatory comments about women’s appearances.

6. The supervisor has personal emotional-management issues and tends to target people rather than address work-related matters.

7. The supervisor orders administrative assistants around and assigns them various odd jobs unrelated to administration.

8. When employees have ideas or raise issues for discussion, it has no effect at all. The supervisor will say that the problem cannot be solved and that things can only be this way, or claim that the issue is the employee’s problem and has nothing to do with the company. Essentially, employees are forced to accept everything the company says, regardless of whether it is reasonable.

9. One person is expected to do the work of four, while the salary is not commensurate with the workload.

10. Many additional tasks are suddenly added, with no opportunity for communication or discussion and no pay raise; employees can only accept them.

11. The supervisor has stabbed employees in the back countless times: everything seems fine on the surface, but the next day a complaint or damaging report will be received.

12. Employees are forced to work on holidays without overtime pay and can only receive compensatory leave. There is no prior notice, and it is impossible to negotiate afterward.

13. Typhoon leave is deducted from employees’ salaries.

Pros

The colleagues are great, and the atmosphere at work is good.

Cons

It is a family business, and family members have the final say in company matters. There are many detailed rules, and everything has to be checked with someone in the family. In particular, written wording must be exactly the same as that used by the family members; otherwise, it is considered wrong.

The computers, software, and network equipment frequently have problems, and these are handled by the boss’s daughter. The efficiency is extremely poor, and the issues are never properly resolved.

It is an all-in-one role: developing clients, making phone calls, visiting clients, negotiating deals, drafting and designing, and coordinating factory operations and business design are all included, but the bonuses are not proportional to the performance results.

The parachuted-in senior manager speaks disrespectfully to people, discriminates based on gender, abuses employees’ days off by making them do other tasks and forcing them to take compensatory leave, and essentially only talks without any ability to solve problems. They frequently use their position to bully employees.

P.S. The company forces every employee to take turns each week asking three friends to leave reviews on Google in order to bury the negative reviews.

Think carefully.

Pros

Colleagues get along well.

Cons

1. The company has no established processes or systems; everything is done based solely on the boss’s subjective feelings and intuition.

2. There is a considerable discrepancy between job titles and actual job responsibilities.

3. There is no proper promotion or training system. One day, your job title may suddenly be changed, and you may be assigned strange targets that you are forced to complete. You are expected to work overtime without additional pay, while management considers this perfectly reasonable.

4. Male supervisors make gender-discriminatory remarks.

5. The boss paints various beautiful visions of the future, but none has any concrete planning, or they end up being abandoned halfway through.

6. They claim to promote a democratic and open culture, but in reality it is all show and no substance.

7. Supervisors do not help employees fight for their rights; everyone only looks after their own interests.

8. One person is expected to take on the duties and work responsibilities of three different positions, and this is considered reasonable and lawful.

Pros

They followed the process carefully and thoroughly.

They answered every question.

The position applied for was Marketing Designer.

Cons

They called at the last minute around noon to ask whether I could interview that afternoon.

The description on the website was too vague, and the job title should not include “Designer.”

More accurately, 95% of the work consists of being a sales consultant, frequently traveling to schools and visiting clients and companies. It is essentially a sales position that only requires someone with a basic sense of color aesthetics.

Pros

The management is quite open-minded and willing to invest in cultivating employees. The designers also have a good sense of quality. However, designers here need to have some sales skills (emphasis on communicating with consumers without going through sales staff), yet the company does not provide corresponding performance bonuses. Opinions may vary on this point, since the compensation is actually quite good, and the company is also quite willing to give raises.
