Pros

Free meals, an indoor basketball court, and a gym

Cons

1. Section Chief Yang relies on being brought back by the boss and does whatever he wants in the warehouse. He has no warehouse experience and may dock employees’ pay arbitrarily, using money to threaten people all day. For example: helping each other is supposed to earn extra pay, but in the end, helping is considered expected, while not helping results in a pay deduction. He is exceptionally good at burning bridges after crossing them, and cannot follow the rules he sets himself. For example: Snacks and drinks, including in the office, are prohibited in the warehouse area, and anyone caught will have money deducted. Yet he himself leads by example by eating in the office.

2. Team Leader Lo dares to do things but not take responsibility. When something goes wrong, he only hides behind others and pushes the blame onto his subordinates.

That’s all.

This review concerns only the “Chiayi Plant warehouse.”

Pros

A company with a lot of paid leave. It also offers an NT$80 daily meal allowance, allowing you to choose either breakfast or lunch, which saves quite a bit of money.

It also provides employee parking, but you have to wait until someone resigns before a spot becomes available. The wait is 2–3 months.

Cons

1. Although there is plenty of leave, you have to gauge your supervisor’s mood when requesting time off, and are often sarcastically told that you must not be short of money.

2. The NT$80 meal allowance is always limited to the same few restaurants, and the food is extremely unappetizing. There are also not many dining options near the company, so there is little choice.

3. Even when applying for overtime, you may be stabbed in the back by your supervisor, who privately says that subordinates often deliberately apply for overtime. Who wouldn’t want to rest on a holiday if they could? Their way of thinking is way ahead of its time.

Most importantly, there are many cliques. If one person dislikes you, more people will end up disliking you.

Pros

1. You don’t have to work on make-up workdays, nor do you have to make up the workday.

2. Annual salary is standardized at 14 months + performance bonus (depends on the manager’s opinion and whether you have aligned yourself with the right people—commonly known as something you can see but never get to enjoy).

3. Three more days off than at ordinary companies, usually in mid-to-late July

Cons

Highly not recommended.

Managers often make empty promises to those below them while brushing them off and being perfunctory. Office politics are quite serious; many managers have already left the company because of infighting.

--> If you have a good relationship with your manager, everything goes smoothly. If you have a bad relationship with your manager, you will be blamed for problems that have nothing to do with you.

Here are some examples I witnessed firsthand:

1. The head of the IT department spends the entire workday either sleeping or playing on their phone. They only show favoritism toward attractive female colleagues; when male colleagues raise issues, they respond immediately on the surface, but privately they either pay little attention or ignore them altogether.

Female colleagues’ requests are handled immediately. The rest of the time, they frantically make empty promises to subordinates or managers. The computers also break down very easily, and outdated, shoddy computers are repeatedly reused, resulting in extremely poor work efficiency; they often crash or break. Whenever a female colleague files a complaint, they directly chew out the subordinate, often pressuring engineers who have been complained about by female colleagues in meeting rooms. You can also often hear them loudly berating people on the phone.

2. The HR department does not seem like an HR department either. As you pass by, you often hear them gossiping about other departments. They also like to form cliques, making the entire HR atmosphere very strange. They do not seem to be a force supporting employees from behind, but rather a force pushing them toward the abyss. They love idle chitchat. If the HR department dislikes you, congratulations: your contributions and performance may very well disappear, and your own manager may even summon you for a talk and place you under observation. Hahahahaha.

3. People in manufacturing and engineering who have nothing to do spend all day idle. Their computer screens are perpetually on auction or group-buying sites. The floor team leaders also scheme against one another and often form cliques behind the scenes, rallying people to discuss each other’s strengths and weaknesses.

There are far too many dark sides to finish describing.

Other than the sales department, this company is highly not recommended. Remember, both the boss and the CEO came from sales.

It is a temporary place for young people to gain experience, not somewhere to work long term.

Pros

1. HR is kind and approachable. (Because HR barely says anything; it is mostly the department managers who make sarcastic remarks.)

2. The plant’s 5S is pretty good.

3. Claims to have production lines covering tens of thousands of ping in southern Taiwan. (Is that an advantage?)

Cons

Similar to GG, department managers use the interview opportunity to make sarcastic remarks about you, criticizing your past experience, professional abilities, reasons for leaving your previous job, and so on. Remarks include: "You’ve worked for so long and you still don’t understand this?" and "What makes you say you understand XXX?" It is inconvenient to argue or say much during the interview, so please be mentally prepared to face high pressure.

One silent rejection.

Pros

The benefits are good, but they’re all funded through monthly deductions from our salaries for the welfare committee~

Cons

Unless you choose PM & RD, for other positions, unless you’re the manager’s favorite or negotiate a pay package you can accept, think carefully before taking on the challenge.

Pros

The work environment is good, and medical personnel are on site.

The year-end bonus is good.

Cons

1. The male HR interviewer had a poor attitude, was impatient, put on airs, and made things difficult for people.

2. The English and logic test scores in the interview were used as a high standard for hiring, without informing the interviewees.

3. The testing rules were not clearly explained to the interviewees, causing them to retake the test and make a wasted trip for the interview.

Pros

1. More holidays than officially announced by the government

2. At least 15 months of annual salary

Cons

1. A family business, with lots of bosses’ relatives and friends’ children; offend someone and you’ll be blacklisted

2. The managers are generally incompetent and have poor emotional intelligence

3. Other than PM and RD, positions are generally not valued unless you are the boss’s favorite

4. Promotions are based on connections, not ability

5. Except for RD, most positions are essentially on a responsibility-based system, with no overtime pay or compensatory leave

6. In nearly ten years of work, my salary has only been adjusted twice

Conclusion: Considering the generous holidays and decent pay, it’s acceptable. But if you have ability, don’t join and put yourself through the frustration
