Pros

After working for a year, I gained a lot of valuable experience. It was very rich and diverse, rather than the usual fixed, unchanging OP work, or long hours.

The office environment is not good, and neither are the restrooms. The interview process was also very basic.

No advantages at all

Cons

The interview was very casual. Someone from an unknown department asked a few perfunctory questions and told me to go home and wait for news, but in the end, there was no communication at all.

Pros

There are no advantages whatsoever.

Cons

There are hardly any benefits. It is not a professional field related to the relevant departments, yet they hire all kinds of employees. Employees work seriously, but in the end they are all dismissed. This kind of hotel is truly unacceptable.

Please refer to other comments and reviews about this company; basically, the situation is exactly the same as what everyone else has encountered—nothing has changed at all!

A little crowded. Slow interviews. Endless waiting around. Someone wandering around observing job applicants. No table for filling out information. Interviews held in the open office next door (no privacy). A few cloud cameras have been added to the surveillance system. An employee kept watching the hotel’s internal camera footage. They kept browsing the job bank. Small restroom, only one. Everyone had to queue to use it. People kept swiping their cards to enter and leave the office next door (the chairman’s office?). The base salary I heard was NT$25,000, with no allowances and no perfect-attendance bonus. There’s no need to ask about the salary structure—it’s just like that. Shift work, rotating weekly, with no night-shift allowance. Then they schedule you for a second interview, so you can come back and continue waiting around for no apparent reason. Regardless of whether it was the first or second interview, everyone was left waiting around for no apparent reason. Other than the interviewer sitting at the open desk next door, everyone else was rushing in and out. Most notably, people kept swiping their cards to enter the office next to the restroom, which happened to be right along the corridor where the job applicants were crowded together, further reducing the already limited waiting space. Everyone was crammed into that narrow main passageway. There was an elderly man (not sure whether he was the chairman) wandering around; everyone seemed extremely deferential toward him. I don’t know what was going on or what the process was supposed to be. Then: “Okay, you can go home now. We’ll contact you again.”

Pros

At that time, I encountered good colleagues and supervisors. As long as staffing adjustments weren’t an issue, I could use all my annual leave to travel abroad without anyone giving me a hard time. After leaving, it seems things could only be described as getting worse and worse. Oh, right—I used to be an administrative clerk in the Housekeeping Department. The salary was really quite different from that of large hotels elsewhere: NT$28,000, plus another NT$1,000 for perfect attendance.

Cons

Before I resigned, the year-end bonus was around 0.7–0.75 months’ salary. After I left, I heard it had been reduced to 0.5 months. Whenever there was a customer complaint, NT$800–1,000 would be deducted from the year-end bonus each time.

There was an employee meal, but don’t expect it to be particularly delicious. The year-end banquet was the same.

The bizarre thing was that, during interviews, the chairman would "read people’s faces." Yes, he wasn’t simply looking at who the interviewees were or what their eyes, noses, and mouths looked like—he was actually "reading faces"~

Three years after I left, I heard the start-of-work red envelope had turned into a lottery ticket for the Taiwan Lottery jackpot~ I only knew because, at the time, I still knew people who were gritting their teeth and hanging on in there^^

If you’re interested in the hotel industry, I still recommend going to another genuinely large hotel instead. That’s my sincere advice.

If I remember anything else, I’ll come back and add it~

The office is located on the second floor of an old apartment building. Both times I went for an interview, many people were crowded in the hallway waiting. There was only one HR representative interviewing for all the positions, while the employee beside them (who looked like a part-time worker) kept frantically using 104 to continuously send out interview invitations... The other reviews here are very realistic: many people kept going in and out of the boss’s office, and the boss also kept coming out to scrutinize the interviewees, which felt rather uncomfortable. I heard that the salary offered for all the positions was NT$28,000. They did schedule a second interview, but after I arrived and waited for an hour and a half, they dismissed me by saying the supervisor was unavailable. I was genuinely dumbfounded, and I sincerely advise everyone not to waste their time going.

A whole host of drawbacks

Front-of-house servers have to cover the cashier department, and breakfast also has to be prepared by the front-of-house staff themselves. They even have to station a server at the main entrance. The key point is that there are only two employees working each day—it’s absolutely exploitative.

The HR assistant manager has it easy: whenever they propose anything detrimental to employees, their salary is increased by 10,000.

For example: eliminate the perfect-attendance bonus, and the HR assistant manager’s salary goes up by 10,000.

Cut the morning-shift allowance, and the HR assistant manager’s salary goes up by 10,000.

This leaves all the employees below afraid to speak up despite their anger. The chairman even says, “The HR assistant manager really has the company’s best interests at heart.”

Truly the chairman’s favorite.

The interview waiting area was crowded. After the interview with the HR manager, I waited and waited. The HR manager said the finance manager was held up at the bank and that they would schedule another interview. Then, two days later, I saw that the job opening had been closed. Is this the standard nowadays?

I suggest not going at all.

The office and the hotel are in separate locations.

The office space is very cramped, and everyone had to crowd around the entrance waiting.

The interview was scheduled for 3:00, but at 3:00 they only started by having us fill out their standard application form.

After we finished, at 3:30 they began calling us in "one by one" to introduce the position and conduct the interview at an "open" desk nearby. The office was approximately 33 square meters, yet they had installed two surveillance cameras.

There was only one ordinary household-style toilet, and everyone also had to take turns cleaning it.

There was a chairman inside who kept coming out to patrol and watch everyone.

He just kept staring at you, which felt extremely rude.

Afterward, they said something about waiting for the general manager or supervisor to come for a second interview.

We never got to the second interview. They simply told everyone to schedule another appointment, and after keeping us waiting until 4:30, they sent us away.

But actually, the chairman could not be bothered to look at you and kept asking the interview supervisor whether they had found a chef.

The administrative staff in the office were also still making phone calls to find people to interview -.-

Pros

The colleagues are all very nice, but every manager only looks out for themselves.

Cons

According to former colleagues, the benefits have gotten much worse. No matter how long you’ve worked there, the year-end bonus is only half a month’s salary at most. Raises also depend on whether the boss likes you or not. Some people work there for 10 years without ever getting a raise, while others get promoted less than a month after joining. In the past, taking three consecutive days of leave required writing a report explaining the reason. I heard that now even taking two days requires a written explanation. Employees wanting to take two days off have to write down the reason—seriously… Luckily, I left last year.

The front-of-house cashier handles everything (Northern Palace, café, Chinese kitchen, Western kitchen, banquet hall). Everyone can order you around, and if you fail to do the cashiering properly, you have to cover the losses yourself. The salary is 28K, with no salary increases. You have to work shifts, and the schedule is terrible: 7:00–15:30 and 14:30–23:00. You often work early, late, early, and early shifts in succession, which will damage your health. Almost anyone in the front of house earns at least 28,500, and their salaries increase over time, but cashiers are stuck at the same 28K forever. You have to clock in and out wherever you go. Bathroom breaks are limited to eight minutes; if you exceed that, you have to write a report and will also be disciplined. There is absolutely no freedom.

Pros

Employee meals are provided (there are lots of cockroaches, the ingredients are not fresh, and they give you diarrhea)

Free uniform laundering (it still smells of sweat after washing)

The senior staff are all extremely capable and will have your back (but their attitude is terrible)

Cons

The front desk always delays your leaving time, and there is no overtime pay because overtime must be applied for in advance and signed off by a supervisor

The senior staff are extremely fierce and speak very harshly

There is a pile of strange official documents, and you are not allowed to spend too long in the restroom

Pros

Employee meals are provided (but they taste bad and hygiene is a concern; I have seen cockroaches crawling around several times, and expired food was also served to employees).

Cons

Employees in every department are constantly being replaced. Although many rules have been established, the high turnover means there is no real system at all—the rules merely serve to make senior management feel good about themselves. This is especially true of the HR department: other departments have to help them source resumes, and also follow their rules to write meaningless reports. They only curry favor with management and exploit loopholes in the law. New HR employees who resign during their probationary period are even ridiculed… They take all the credit, while others take all the blame.

Pros

Pros: One employee meal is provided in the staff cafeteria. Uniforms are provided by the company; you cannot take them home, but you do not have to wash them yourself—the company has a partner vendor that handles the cleaning.

Regardless of experience, HR/audit/procurement positions pay NT$28,000. For a fresh graduate, I guess you could say that’s not bad? The office staff are all young, and mostly women.

Basically, there is no overtime, because if you do not submit an application in advance, overtime pay will not be counted, and even if you apply, it depends on whether your supervisor is willing to sign off on it.

So everyone basically leaves work on time, unless something is very urgent and cannot be finished.

Cons

Cons: The audit role is basically just an administrative position for counting ingredients and watching surveillance footage.

There is really nothing professional about it.

The HR department is not professional at all. Currently, almost none of the people staying in the office have been there for more than six months.

They were all lured in by the HR manager, but the manager likes to push many tasks down to subordinates.

Unfortunately, the manager is the chairman’s favorite, so they are allowed to do whatever they want.

They are constantly trying to exploit loopholes in the Labor Standards Act, which has made all the employees very unhappy.

The entire company constantly changes its policies. The equipment is neither updated nor disinfected, and the environment is quite dirty. When there are customer complaints, the manager does not handle them and instead happily takes time off while collecting a high salary.

You basically cannot learn anything in auditing; anyone can do it. However, kitchen inventory checks require you to be able to carry heavy objects (approximately 10–13 kg), yet they only look for women.

You have to take inventory every day, and there is also a major inventory check once every 10 days. The major inventory check takes an entire day.

You also have to go out during three time slots every day to watch employees hand out flyers.

The surveillance monitoring is outrageous. It is not only done when something has happened. Much of the time, the chairman becomes suspicious and thinks the employees are not working seriously,

so they order the auditors to watch surveillance footage for an entire day. The report has to state what each employee is doing and where they go every minute. It is extremely boring.

In any case, the auditors are called in whether or not anything has happened. Many documents are also just completed as a formality, which is a huge waste of time.

Alternatively, you may have to organize a pile of reports, but these documents are actually meaningless because the department manager has already handled the matter. All the auditor does is file them.

The work here is manageable, but auditors also have to recruit for HR by sourcing résumés. If you do not source several candidates each day, you will eventually receive a warning.

However, auditors are often running around and simply have no time. They are afraid you will quit, so they will coax you by saying that you do not have to do it if you are really busy, but in reality, you still have to do it—or write a report explaining why you did not.

One person does two jobs, yet receives the same salary as HR!

Also, apart from not updating the equipment, the hotel has barely digitized anything.

For example, regarding timekeeping: there is fingerprint clock-in, but HR still has to verify it against paper records.

According to long-time employees who were about to leave, the chairman used to dismiss people arbitrarily for various strange reasons (such as thinking they were not working hard enough).

Pros

Very relaxed

Cons

There are far too many cliques. They also care only about flattery, not ability. If you choose the wrong side or remain neutral, they will find an excuse to force you out. They even use under-the-table tactics to produce resignation letters framed as voluntary.
