Pros

The air conditioning is on.

Cons

Although the position was publicly advertised as a management opening, only HR and someone arranging interviews for a regular staff position showed up. The senior manager was too busy to come. So what was the point of scheduling an interview? Don't other people's time matter?

There's a reason the company has been declining over the past few years: it has no systems and no sense of time. The company's department head couldn't even manage basic business etiquette, making the interviewee wait all morning. It just felt like a cruel prank!!

It's fine for the company to act high and mighty, but senior management should take a look at how its own operations are nearly becoming a textbook example of a Taiwanese company that can't keep up with the times. You should first be ashamed and leave yourselves; there's no need to bring in young people just to humiliate them and make yourselves feel good.

This year, senior management announced that 50% of people won’t get year-end bonuses, and they’re only talking about this in January...

They also say they’re going to recruit heavily next year, hehe.

Overtime hours will account for 30% of performance evaluations.

Those who love working overtime are welcome to join us.

Pros

There is indoor parking

The restrooms have toilet paper

The company coffee machine makes decent coffee

That's it

Cons

The company places extremely little importance on training new employees; once you join, you can only figure things out on your own.

Being able to find information yourself would be one thing, but none of the company's internal information is complete.

You can't find product numbers; there is no unified price list; there isn't even a customer information sheet.

The company's higher-ups have no central direction at all. Their constantly changing priorities often make people below them work for nothing. There are frequently situations where they say, "I need the analysis report by tomorrow," but after everyone works desperately to finish it, no one even looks at it.

Things are already difficult enough, yet the company still forces employees to use various systems that are difficult to use and have painfully unintuitive interfaces. Just filling out forms in the systems can waste most of a day.

In addition, the contract clearly states that your salary will be increased after passing the probationary-period review. However, the review was postponed once, then twice, then three times, and was ultimately not conducted until six months after I joined. I really don't know what the point was of scheduling the meeting in advance.

Although I ultimately passed the probationary period and received the salary adjustment without any issues, the endless PUA-style rhetoric from the higher-ups made me realize how unworthy it was to spend so much effort and time here.

In short, this place provides employees with pitifully few resources while setting frighteningly high targets. It also uses various policies and terrible systems to hold you back, so you work yourself to death and still often end up working for nothing.

Unless you are truly starving, you really don't need to put yourself through this place.

You can find something better. Keep going!

Can't think of any.

Cons

Serious infighting among management and a culture of sycophancy. Ordinary employees pretend to be busy during working hours and work lots of overtime after hours, which makes their supervisors think they are very dedicated. Although it is an old company, its systems and processes are inefficient. When working on projects, you ask the requesting party to provide information, but they often don't know anything, so you have to find the answers yourself. Be careful not to fall into a quagmire.....

Meals are provided for overtime.

Cons

Today they give you ten days to head east

Tomorrow they tell you to head west

Two days later they tell you to head south

Before the final day, they tell you to head north

Then on the final day, they ask why you didn't make it east

Those foolish enough to enjoy challenges can come in and hone their skills

The seventh-floor restaurant is comfortable, with a free coffee machine and vending machines. There is also a gym outside.

Cons

There is no guaranteed year-end bonus. The bottom 5% in performance evaluations receive no year-end bonus. There is a severe culture of overtime—you work overtime every day, and working hard every day is useless. Only those favored by the boss receive a year-end bonus; otherwise, you will ultimately become a sacrifice. HR will also repeatedly persuade you to leave. There is a very large amount of paperwork in the processes. The styles differ greatly among the various BUs. Please evaluate carefully before responding to the resume or interview invitation.

Pros

They are very willing to offer high salaries, and the compensation is not bad.

Cons

1. Senior management decisions and the organizational structure change every day, and many managers are constantly stripped of their authority, creating an authoritarian atmosphere.

2. Professional expertise is not really respected. Whether you are a manager or a regular employee, you start from the ground level when you join.

3. Overtime is the norm. Basically, people leave work at 8–9 p.m., so after averaging it out, the salary honestly is not that great.

4. Product planning is extremely hesitant to compete with leading brands, making later products less likely to meet mainstream needs.

5. There are meetings almost every day, which is a huge waste of time.

Pros

1. Colleagues and most frontline staff are generally easy to communicate with.

2. The company is fairly generous with leave. New employees appear to get three days of newcomer leave, as well as birthday leave. Those who have been here a long time accumulate a large amount of leave; after five years, people generally cannot use it all, and unused leave can be carried over to the following year.

3. When the former senior manager was still there, each department had a monthly fund of NT$100 per person and one or two irregular department dinners per year. After the pandemic, these were effectively dropped.

4. The outsourced security guards are quite sharp and remember people's names. Online shopping packages can be left at the security office.

Cons

1. Many benefits look good on paper but are difficult to use, such as the gym and the stress-relief room. If you can leave work early, why stay at the company? In more than five years, I never used the stress-relief room, and there are no voucher benefits either, because senior management believes that directly giving out vouchers represents getting something for nothing. They think employees must work hard to earn benefits, which is why some activities semi-force employees to perform, and company trips have been canceled in favor of self-organized groups.

2. Senior management has a very traditional Taiwanese-business management style and places great importance on overtime hours, which are included as part of performance evaluations. Unless you are a favored employee, the year-end bonus is basically one month’s salary or less.

3. Salary adjustments are infrequent and generally small. Unless you are a favored employee or a supervisor is willing to promote you, moving up one minor level usually gets you only an additional NT$2,000–3,000; a major promotion may bring more. I knew someone in R&D who had been there for more than three years and received an adjustment of only around NT$3,000 before eventually leaving.

4. The senior management team changes every two or three years. Often, someone is invited in because they are initially very close to the top executive, but once they are no longer on good terms, they are quickly kicked out.

5. This workplace is more suitable for people with a business-oriented personality, because formal procedures are merely for reference—and having any procedures at all is almost something to be grateful for. Almost everything is resolved through communication and negotiation.

6. It is important whether your direct supervisor has the authority and responsibility to block unreasonable requests. As mentioned above, if they lack such authority, they will only keep taking on troublesome tasks and cleaning up other people’s messes. Difficult, thankless work will just keep coming.

7. Every year, employees are compulsorily required to complete a certain number of public-service hours, such as cleaning the company, wrapping gifts for holiday activities, or volunteering externally. All of this must be done on personal time. If you do not meet the requirement, your supervisor will question you, while the company can present itself as fulfilling its social responsibilities.

8. Large companies usually have a dedicated employee welfare committee, but here employees have to rotate through the role every year. It is difficult and thankless, and attempts to secure better benefits are blocked by upper management.

9. There are very few toilets. Apart from the toilets on the 1st, 7th, 8th floors (for external guests only), and 9th floor, there is one men’s and one women’s toilet on each floor, with only one squat toilet and one seated toilet each. It is quite common for both the squat and seated toilets to be occupied. The first-floor toilets were later renovated, but only the appearance was beautified; the number of toilets did not change. Perhaps the top executive is a believer in feng shui, or it was done for external guests to see.

Pros

The HR representative was kind during the interview process and handled things quite professionally.

After joining the company, the job responsibilities matched what was discussed initially, and the benefits were acceptable.

Overall, the company is better than some, though not as good as others.

Cons

Middle managers are working hard to break through, but the top management is old-fashioned in the way they do things.
