Pros

The manager who interviewed me was quite friendly, and the atmosphere at work was fairly quiet. Overall, the atmosphere tends to be harmonious, but this is related to the employee composition being monotonous and skewed toward an older generation. This company may not suit younger people’s culture, so older job seekers may want to consider this company instead.

Cons

1. If you cannot accept the traditional values of seniority and hierarchical relationships between superiors and subordinates, parents and children, I recommend not coming here. What the manager says cannot be challenged, and absolute obedience is required. Managers and senior employees are always right, while junior employees are always wrong. If you speak up out of a sense of justice, you may be told that you have a poor attitude toward learning: “Your attitude determines your altitude.” There are not many young people here, possibly because young people cannot adapt to this environment.

2. If you care about the cleanliness and aesthetics of the work environment, I recommend not coming here. It is more like a factory.

3. If you care about salary, I recommend not coming here. The salary probably will not satisfy you; I have heard colleagues who joined at the same time complain about this.

4. If you hate working overtime, I recommend not coming here. Because salaries are relatively low, people here need to work overtime as much as possible to earn overtime pay. There is already a culture of working overtime automatically. Automatically working overtime is regarded as a good attitude, while leaving on time is regarded as a bad attitude. Managers expect employees to work overtime on their own initiative.

5. There are Teslas and Mercedes-Benzes—luxury cars worth millions—in the company basement parking lot, but most employees only park scooters. It “feels” as though there may be some kind of wealth disparity. This would require verification and cannot be determined with complete certainty.

6. If younger people decide to join this company, I strongly recommend that they not give managers or senior employees any opinions, no matter how constructive they may be. The culture of hierarchical relationships between superiors and subordinates, parents and children will cause you to be viewed as a troublesome person who is disobedient and has a poor attitude toward learning. What you should do is simply follow orders and complete the tasks assigned to you. Do not do anything beyond the scope of what they ask. A proactive attitude must be limited to completing the tasks assigned by the manager, rather than making additional contributions.

Pros

Pros

You have to wear a uniform to work. In the past, even R&D staff had to clean the toilets; now everyone still has to sweep the floor every Friday.

Managers at assistant-manager level and above have a huge sense of authority and are difficult to get along with.

Job postings are open all year round—they are always short-staffed.

Cons

Cons

1. Year-end bonuses must be multiplied by the KPI and the performance achievement rate expected by the boss—approximately multiplied by 0.3.

Business performance is very poor, while the boss’s expectations are very high, so the year-end bonus gets discounted again and again (“We all have to weather difficult times together”—as the boss said at the year-end banquet).

2. Mid-Autumn Festival gift money: everyone gets one pomelo; I forget whether there was also NT$1,000.

3. Birthday gift money: just NT$1,000—don’t deduct anything else.

4. Wedding gift money: NT$3,600; take it or leave it.

◆ R&D Bonuses

1. First- and second-half KPI bonuses (six months)

~R&D personnel can receive up to 19 months of annual salary~ Please, who has actually received 19 months? An employee this outstanding should be publicly praised.

It’s complete bullshit.

***********************************************************************************

1. Labor insurance

2. National health insurance

◆ Benefits and Policies

1. Production-line employee uniforms — Would you want to stand at work wearing a raincoat? That is what the production-line uniforms are like. Is this considered a benefit???

2. Meal allowance — Eight people share a set meal; one table costs only NT$400 and has four dishes, with very small portions. When there is a big eater, the table gets cleaned out (the women fight for food too).

3. Performance bonus (mockery bonus??) Paid once every six months, with a very high chance of getting nothing. With the monitoring-equipment business performing this badly, you get at most half a month’s salary.

It all gets taken by supervisors (assistant-manager level and above), who then pretend they did not receive it and kindly ask why you did not get yours.

◆ Facilities

1. Employee cafeteria — It is surrounded by factories, and the air quality is extremely poor. Imagine the dining environment for yourself.

◆ Leave / Vacation Policies

1. Five-day workweek with weekends off

2. Special leave / annual leave

3. Paternity leave

4. Prenatal checkup leave

5. Marriage leave: the company deducts from your marriage leave; weekends are also counted within the eight days.

6. Bereavement leave

◆ Other

1. Employee parking spaces are in the basement level 2 of a building over 30 years old. You can only ride a scooter. The boss’s son keeps changing cars (Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, BMW), then tells you the company is not making money and that everyone must weather difficult times together. Just obediently rub your nose and ride to work.

2. R&D staff are not expected to work themselves to death. Your supervisor will tell you that it is fine if you do not work overtime, but will give you a very low KPI score so you cannot receive the performance bonus. They will also threaten you by saying that if your KPI continues to be poor, you may be laid off.

If you stay for a full year and genuinely want to be laid off, the company has to pay severance.

Then some senior executive will “kindly” remind you, just as they “kindly” remind people who are thinking of taking advantage of the situation.

If you are laid off, it will go on your record. If you are laid off, it will go on your record. If you are laid off, it will go on your record.

It is important, so I’ll say it three times, because too many people have resigned voluntarily because of this.

Only one brave person held on, ignored the “kind, well-intentioned” reminders, and received severance pay.

3. Employee health examinations: apparently once every two or three years. Don’t be foolish.

National health insurance also covers health checkups; for NT$150, you can definitely get a more detailed examination.

Also, if you work continuously in an unhealthy environment, it is easy to develop strange illnesses.

4. Year-end banquet: the annual banquet is terrible.

I remember the total prize money distributed was less than NT$100,000. Everyone received a NT$1,000 consolation prize.

◆ Subsidies

1. Contributions under the new retirement-pension system

This indicates that some people there chose the old system and are waiting to reach 25 years of service, staying there to coast and act senior.

Pros

You can learn outdated technologies.

Cons

Things the company introduction doesn't tell you >>

◆ Bonuses / Gifts

1. Year-end bonus << Years of service multiplied by 10 days' base salary, then multiplied by the company's performance achievement rate (e.g., 0.3)

◆ R&D bonuses

1. First- and second-half annual KPI bonuses (6 months) << I've never heard of anyone receiving more than 2 months' worth

~ R&D personnel can receive up to 19 months of annual salary ~ << I've never heard of anyone receiving more than 14 months' worth

1. Production-line employee uniforms << R&D staff also have to wear uniforms in summer

2. Paid leave/annual leave << Leave cannot be taken by the hour; at least half a day must be taken.

◆ Other

1. Employee parking spaces << Employees must pay half the cost themselves

2. There is no excessive-overtime culture for R&D staff, and overtime is calculated by time worked << R&D overtime pay is calculated based on base salary; other positions are under an all-inclusive salary system.

3. Employee health examinations << Once every three years

4. Year-end banquet/department gatherings << Department gatherings have been discontinued unless the supervisor pays out of pocket.
