Pros

You have to wear a uniform to work. In the past, R&D staff even had to clean the toilets; now everyone still has to sweep the floors every Friday.

Everyone at deputy-manager level and above has a huge air of authority and is difficult to get along with.

Job openings are posted year-round; they are always hiring.

Cons

1. Year-end bonus: It has to be multiplied by the KPI and the boss’s desired achievement rate—approximately multiplied by 0.3.

Business performance is very poor, while the boss’s expectations are very high, so the year-end bonus gets discounted again and again ("Everyone must work together through difficult times"—as the boss said at the year-end banquet).

2. Mid-Autumn Festival gift: One pomelo per person. I forget whether there was NT$1,000.

3. Birthday gift: Just NT$1,000—don’t deduct anything else.

4. Wedding gift: NT$3,600, take it or leave it.

◆ R&D bonuses

1. First- and second-half-year KPI bonuses (6 months)

~R&D staff can receive up to 19 months of annual salary~ Please, has anyone actually received 19 months? An employee this outstanding should be publicly praised.

It’s complete bullshit.

***********************************************************************************

1. Labor insurance

2. National health insurance

◆制度類

1. Production-line employee uniforms -- Would you want to stand and work wearing a raincoat? That’s what the production-line uniform is like. Is this considered a benefit???

2. Meal allowance --- Eight people share a set meal; one table costs only NT$400. There are very few dishes, and if someone has a big appetite, they clear the table (the women fight for food pretty aggressively too).

3. Performance bonus (a mocking bonus??): Paid once every six months, and there’s a high chance of getting nothing. With surveillance-camera sales performing so poorly, the maximum is only half a month’s salary.

It is all taken by supervisors (deputy-manager level and above), who then pretend they did not receive it and kindly ask why you did not get yours.

◆ Equipment

1. Employee cafeteria -- It is surrounded by factories, and the air quality is extremely poor. Imagine the dining environment yourself.

◆ Leave / vacation system

1. Two days off per week

2. Special leave / annual leave

3. Paternity leave

4. Prenatal examination leave

5. Marriage leave The company deducts marriage leave; Saturdays and Sundays are also included in the eight days.

6. Bereavement leave

◆ Other

1. Employee parking spaces: Parking is on basement level 2 of a building that is over 30 years old, and only motorcycles are allowed. The boss’s son keeps changing cars (Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, BMW), then tells you the company is not making money and everyone must work together through difficult times. Just rub your nose and ride a motorcycle to work.

2. There is no excessive-overtime culture for R&D staff. The supervisor will tell you that it’s okay if you don’t work overtime, but will give you a very low KPI so that you cannot receive the performance bonus. They will also threaten you by saying that if your KPI continues to be poor, you might be laid off.

If you stay for a full year and genuinely want to be laid off, the company has to pay severance.

Then senior management will “kindly” remind you—just like I am “kindly” reminding people who want to make the most of the situation:

If you are laid off, it will leave a record.

If you are laid off, it will leave a record.

If you are laid off, it will leave a record.

It’s important, so I’ll say it three times—because too many people have resigned voluntarily because of this.

Only one brave person held out, ignored the “kind” and “well-intentioned” reminders, and received severance pay.

3. Employee health checkups: Apparently once every two or three years. Don’t be foolish.

National health insurance also provides health checkups; for NT$150, you can absolutely get a more detailed examination.

Also, if you work continuously in an unhealthy environment, it is very easy to develop strange illnesses.

4. Year-end banquet: The banquet is terrible.

I remember the total prize money distributed was less than NT$100,000, and everyone received NT$1,000 as a consolation prize.

◆ Subsidies

1. Contributions under the new retirement pension system

This indicates that someone there chose the old system and is waiting until 25 years have passed—basically staying there to retire and acting like a senior.
