Leaving work on time

Cons

The boss is extremely emotional, and there is a lot of physical contact that makes people uncomfortable (even between men—it's not like every guy likes that, right?!). Whenever a project fails, he will shift 200% of the blame onto subordinates. In addition, from time to time he comes up with some wild ideas for engineers to implement, only for the work to end up being pointless. Based on my personal work experience, the scariest thing is that after you leave, when your next employer conducts a reference check, this boss will absolutely say bad things about you (because this department has an extremely high turnover rate and he doesn't want anyone to leave, so he will be petty and retaliate...).

Every word above is true, based on my own experience working there for a year and the shared experiences of my department colleagues.

1. Low pay. HR aggressively cuts salaries, even though this is a low-paying position.

During the interview, they even require you to provide contact information for your previous company.

They really do call your previous company to confirm the reason for your departure.

2. The overtime application system shows that you can only apply for overtime one hour after the end of your scheduled workday. This means you have to work two additional hours of overtime in order to apply for one hour of overtime.

3. Overtime is not converted into overtime pay; instead, it becomes compensatory leave. If you do not use all the leave, it is only settled in a lump sum at the end of the year after the year has passed. The problem is that overtime pay should actually be calculated using a multiplier, but the company can take advantage of you.

4. Even a major television station does not follow the Labor Standards Act.

Pros

None at all.

Cons

An absolutely terrible interview experience! The interview had already been scheduled, and I even paid out of pocket to print the documents they said I needed to prepare and brought them with me. I was also worried about being late, so I left early. But after I arrived downstairs at the company, I was told that the interview had been canceled. They said a notification email had been sent. When I logged into the job bank, it said the interview was canceled because of upgraded epidemic-prevention measures—in just two short sentences.

Are you kidding me? The interview time had been arranged the previous week. If they wanted to cancel, couldn’t they have notified me earlier? The interview was scheduled for 2 p.m., but they didn’t send the notification email until after 12 noon. Seriously... nearly a whole week had passed since the interview was arranged, and they notified me just over an hour before the interview? And they only sent an email without calling to inform me. Once someone has already left home to prepare for an interview, who would still check that? The notification email was only a few brief words, without even a single apology.

The way this company handled the situation made me feel extremely disrespected. I felt humiliated and mistreated! This was truly a terrible interview experience, and I will never apply for a job at this company again.

In the same building as Videoland, so you can occasionally see sports stars.

Cons

The new media manager lacks experience, and the interview process was also quite unprofessional.

They asked an editor whether someone else’s English was good.

During the application process, they even asked a senior editor to conduct a writing test on the spot. Couldn’t they look at the person’s news articles online themselves?

In the end, they blamed HR for the result.

The HR person kept calling relentlessly, asking about my work experience. Even after I answered, they still didn’t understand what the job involved. They clearly hadn’t done their homework or properly read the applicant’s résumé before calling. Is it really that hard to do a quick online search? Strange HR.

The quality, speed, and accuracy standards for news content are quite demanding. As a reporter, you grow quickly and learn about a great many things.

Cons

T Station News has high-quality journalism and is a leader among news stations, but for that very reason, some senior colleagues look down on younger people’s ideas and tend to use past experience to judge young people today. If you think there are systems within the company that could be improved, you may be considered unworthy of T Station.

I was once asked to clock out first and then continue working, so that the company would not be found to have exceeded the legal working-hour limit.

If you clock in and out using the company intranet, your working hours will always comply with the Labor Standards Act regardless of when you clock in or out—but in reality, you may already have worked two or three hours of overtime without realizing it.

Leaving work on time (in most cases)

Cons

Based on my personal work experience, the scariest thing is that after you leave, this boss will 100 percent badmouth you when your next employer conducts a reference check (because turnover in this department is too high and he doesn't want anyone to leave, so he takes petty revenge......)

Everything above is completely true, based on my own one year of work experience plus the shared experiences of colleagues in the department

Pros

A large company with comprehensive benefits and the glamour of the media industry.

Cons

I interviewed for a position in the sales department. An employee there said that when it was time to get off work, you had to clock out and continue working overtime because they were afraid of being inspected... People with an extremely strong passion and willingness to burn themselves out are probably more suitable.
