Pros

Punctual working hours. The company was originally located near Songshan Airport, but moved to near Taipei City Hall Station in Xinyi District in the past one or two years. The office environment is nice, and it is easy to reach right after exiting the MRT station, making commuting extremely convenient.

When I first joined the company, I did not sign a contract. Senior colleagues said there used to be a signing bonus, but by the time I joined, the company had already canceled the signing-bonus system and instead introduced a long-service bonus upon completing three years. I happened to reach three years this year. I had initially worried that the company might use various excuses to delay or deduct the bonus, but unexpectedly, the company proactively paid the long-service bonus on the next payday after I completed the three-year term. Although it was promised, receiving a six-figure amount all at once still felt like a pleasant little surprise.

So far, overall, my experience has been fairly satisfactory and smooth. I have also accumulated a lot of experience in areas I had never encountered before, which has helped me grow considerably.

Cons

The cases cover a very broad range of topics, so newcomers may go through a challenging period of adjustment.

Pros

Can't think of any.

Cons

1. The boss has absolutely no understanding of marketing, yet is very stubborn and impatient. He completely ignores the marketing department's opinions. Although he hired professional marketers, he is only willing to listen to what people in the accounting or legal departments say about “marketing.” He once snapped: “Even if the marketing strategy ultimately fails, that’s my business. I’m the one putting up the money; you just need to follow orders.” So marketing professionals should absolutely not have any ideas of their own when they join. They must throw away everything they have learned in the past, along with their aesthetic standards, and retain only the mindset of being a dog.

2. The marketing department is given no importance whatsoever: they are called in when needed and dismissed when not. If he feels the timing is wrong, he immediately asks people to leave, figuring he can simply find someone again when he wants to do it.

3. The boss is extremely emotional. He is quite old, and seeing him get so worked up that he looks as if he is about to suffer a stroke is genuinely frightening—I’m really afraid he might suddenly collapse in the middle of a conversation.

4. The boss is extremely pro-blue. Judging by his accent, he seems to be from Guangdong or Hong Kong, and he places great importance on Taiwanese businesspeople as a customer segment. If there is even the slightest offense to or disagreement with Taiwanese businesspeople, he really will become agitated and start hurling abuse.

5. He has absolutely no understanding of marketing work and thinks that filming and editing can produce 30 videos a month. The key point is that there is only one editor responsible for both filming and post-production. His demands for the visual quality of the videos are truly appalling. To emphasize once again: working here really requires throwing away all aesthetic concepts.

Pros

Currently, employees who apply and join are no longer required to sign a contract and pay a penalty for leaving. Instead, the arrangement has been changed to a “long-service bonus,” meaning that employees who stay for a certain number of years can receive a bonus, and there is no compensation issue if they resign midway. The company also offers project bonuses, which can only be received under special circumstances. The company owner emphasizes individual abilities and interests and, depending on the situation, may ask interviewees to present their ideas for the position they are applying for as the final criterion for selecting candidates. The company provides bonuses for the three major holidays, which is considered one of its better benefits.

There is a row of trees beside the office’s floor-to-ceiling windows, providing a very nice view.

Cons

Although project bonuses are mentioned, the actual rules are not explained very clearly.

(Is not signing a contract when discussing salary nowadays considered an advantage?)

Cons

1. For the marketing position, the interview was conducted by an employee from the same department because the department has no marketing manager; marketing is managed directly by the owner. Upon joining the interview, you are required to fill out a detailed personnel information form, including the responsibilities and monthly and annual salaries for every previous job. Once completed, it is shown directly to your colleagues in the same department, allowing everyone to see it at a glance. If you want your future colleagues to know your past and expected salary, feel free to come for an interview!

2. After speaking with the colleague, I then spoke with the HR manager. However, we did not have an in-depth discussion about career development, and the salary structure was explained ambiguously. They also did not believe there were clear KPIs that could identify the results brought by marketing, repeatedly hinting that the marketing department is managed under the owner. Therefore, interpersonal relationships are more important than getting things done in this position, and the final salary must also be decided by the owner.

3. Finally, I met the owner, who really seemed to talk with his eyes closed. After explaining the work responsibilities he expected, he said that if I was interested in the job, I should write a proposal for him, and that salary would be discussed after he reviewed the proposal.

Searching PTT, I found claims that this company is the originator of the overseas shell-company business. Its scope of business is very broad: litigation, tax planning, app and website development. I truly sympathize with their business development staff—or rather, their omnipotent financial and legal consultants.

it technical managers do not understand mobile applications. During the interview, they brought in the only engineer who understood app development to sit in. He was very young and not particularly experienced. They asked some technical questions about app development on site, which felt like problems they had encountered while developing their own product. The entire interview felt like everyone was talking past one another and simply competing in assertiveness. What is more, they could not even explain who the primary customers for their software products were. In short, their mobile and website applications have not yet closed any deals. They still expect the financial and legal consultants to work hard to sell them. Do they not already lack enough time just handling tax planning and legal consultation? They also have to sell software?

Upon being hired, you must sign a contract with a signing bonus. The contract is for three years, and because they are worried about information leaks, you have to pay compensation if you resign during that period.

The boss did not have time to interview me, so they had to arrange another time. About two months later, they called again. This time, they sent me another batch of questions that clearly looked like issues they had encountered while developing their own product, calling it an exam. In reality, the questions showed that they could not even distinguish some key terms related to iOS and Android, which made me feel extremely disrespected. Besides, they had already asked technical questions about app development during the previous on-site interview. You cannot try to take advantage of people like this, can you? Do your own assignment yourself, okay?

The interviewers will criticize people and pick faults with the interviewees. What’s funny is that they actively seek out interviewees themselves—it’s not that the interviewees submitted their résumés on their own. After the interview, they’ll ask you to sign a three-year contract. The higher the salary, the higher the signing bonus; the longer you work, the more you’ll lose. If you don’t want to sign a contract, don’t waste your time going to the interview. Please refer to the following link: https://www.ptt.cc/bbs/Salary/M.1400204836.A.BCD.html
