品元實業股份有限公司
Pros

The company’s colleagues, boss, and the boss’s wife are friendly toward people, and the company is becoming more systematic and structured;

Willing to invest in quality;

Willing to share profits.

Cons

The factory and the company are separate: the company is at Hongshulin Station, while the factory is in Bali District.

People working at the factory will get premixed powder all over them, and it can get scattered around. However, the company has showers, so employees can shower after work before going home.

Pros

After you submit your résumé, HR will call you first and tell you a whole bunch of things that make you think this company has clear policies and is reassuring. In reality...

Cons

The interview instructions said to prepare a PPT on any topic. The HR representative said that other candidates had presented on motorcycles, red wine, and so on.

I presented content related to my project in organic chemistry, but then the boss (I assume he was the boss?) kept asking me on the spot: “Do you know what our company does? Is what you’re presenting related to our company?”

Then, after seeing that my education was listed as a university degree, he asked why I didn’t have relevant work experience (even though their listing on 104 stated that no experience was required).

All I can say is: think twice before going to the interview.

Pros

The boti is delicious

I’ll just watch you bite each other 😆

Cons

1. Whenever something goes wrong, the factory supervisor blames the people below 😂

2. The head office is pretty ridiculous. They keep saying they’re going to go public and get listed, but then they can’t even place orders properly. When there’s a problem with the products, they come and blame the factory?

3. The sales assistant has no idea why they’re getting so angry about placing orders! They just expect everything to be scheduled? Do you think things are so idle on the factory side?

4. Also, the relationship between R&D and engineering at the head office is really bad! They’re constantly coming over to pick faults! Hellooo~~~~If you want to fight, just fight among yourselves—don’t drag the factory into it.

5. I hear there’s serious infighting in the sales department! Their position is extremely minor! They still have to come and toast us at the year-end banquet~They can’t help it; they need something from us 😂

6. One instruction, one action. Don’t have too many ideas—too many and you’ll get told off! What they need is an obedient dog.

7. Oh, right! This is the first time I’ve seen a company where the back-office staff speak louder than the field staff!

8. You’d better keep your voices down. Let a little slip so people can find out what’s going on ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Pros

Generally, the company follows Labor Standards Act requirements, and the owner and his wife are nice people.

Cons

To put it nicely, the company is going through the growing pains of institutionalization—but those growing pains seem like they will never end. Senior executives do not get along with one another; whenever something goes wrong, they compete to pass the buck. Managers are afraid to take responsibility and may even shift it to their subordinates. If the people at the top cannot get along, how can staff from different departments below establish connections and collaborate?

The company and factory are separated by the Tamsui River, creating conditions where the factory is effectively beyond the head office’s direct oversight. In recent years, the factory has parachuted in managers from outside the industry whose poor leadership has led to mass departures among quality control, plant operations, and human resources staff. This is because the factory managers want obedient followers, not talented people; even the foreign workers are constantly complaining.

The company imposes numerous restrictions on business quotations, making it difficult for newcomers to get up to speed. The company’s ERP system is old and complicated, while the newly introduced system is incompatible in format and may not even be able to connect to the internet!? The number of plant administration assistants keeps increasing, but efficiency has regressed to the paper-based era.

Revenue has also declined year after year. The company’s former sales flagship, Korean bread, has fallen out of fashion. In an attempt to find a way forward, it has taken on a haphazard assortment of unfamiliar products and resorted to makeshift production methods despite lacking sufficient experience, equipment, facilities, and staff. As a result, the risk of workplace injuries in the production environment is extremely high. Minor dust storms and burns or scalds have become routine.

To work at this company, what matters is not job competence but whether you are related to or friends with the owner, followed by whether you have mastered the arts of flattery and avoiding trouble. Professional skills are not important, because even someone with no relevant experience can become a food quality-control specialist as long as the supervisor takes a liking to them.
