Pros

1. There is a birthday celebration every month.

2. The bonuses for the three traditional festivals are provided as they should be (but you have to buy the company's products).

Cons

1. Meaningless meetings are held all day long. During the meeting, you are first scolded for half an hour, and for the remaining half hour they start talking about their own glorious achievements.

2. You are threatened every day. After all, there are lots of people submitting résumés to get in, and you can be laid off at any time.

3. They keep asking you to put forward opinions and ideas, then reject them one by one, and afterward ask why everyone has no ideas. They say they do not want employees like that.

4. They give you new work every day and bring up all sorts of far-fetched ideas. Whatever they think of, they ask you to do, so besides your daily routine, you also have to constantly deal with these lousy tasks.

5. They treat employees like elementary school students. In addition to occasional surprise quizzes, you also have to take written tests every day.

6. They think employees are idle every day and believe that leaving work on time is unacceptable. You must work overtime and devote yourself to the company like they do.

7. In summary, if you have a masochistic tendency, you can try working there.

Pros

There are probably only these few items left...

1. Convenient location and transportation

2. The air conditioning is quite cool (during a certain period, it had to be turned off promptly at 18:00; those working overtime were advised to keep calm and cool naturally)

3. The tea bags taste great (at one point, to save costs, they were made available only in limited quantities)

4. Monthly birthday parties (though large pizzas have been slimmed down into small pizzas, and the salad has become a basin of grass)

Cons

1. Severe imbalance in workload and work-life balance

2. Double standards: some people do a little and are praised to the skies, while those who work themselves to death without being favored will never be seen

3. No vision: copying whatever others do, always doing only half the job and always half a step behind

4. Policies cannot be questioned; they must simply be carried out at all costs

5. Constantly doing money-losing things without ever reviewing their benefits—doing them simply for the sake of doing them

6. Spending a great deal of manpower on things that cannot make money for the company, just to please clients—charity work, essentially

7. At certain times, your phone may be subjected to an endless barrage of calls. Remember to turn on silent mode after work and when watching movies on holidays

8. Recent personnel transfers do not take ability or job scope into consideration. If you cannot stay, then leave

9. At a certain executive unit, a particular minority of people judge how they work based on appearance. If they do not like the look of you, or if you do not know how to act cute when making a request, they will reject it without even looking at it

Can anyone do well at the company? Of course—if you have the following qualities, you will become tomorrow's rising star!

1. Never think; just agree with everything. Clinging to the powerful earns major bonus points! That way, someone can keep believing that the entire universe revolves around “Earth”

2. If you have connections, nothing is a problem—when you cause trouble, someone will naturally take the fall for you

Pros

I am currently still an employee in the Brand Department. Seeing all the commotion here recently, I also wanted to say something... (It's anonymous anyway...)

Here are the company's overall advantages:

1. NT$500 transportation allowance for interviews: It makes you feel a little cared for.

2. Monthly birthday celebrations: There are pizza, fried chicken, vegetarian options, and cake.

3. Flexible start and finish times: No need to rush to clock in.

4. Office space: Bright and fairly spacious.

Cons

1. Bonus system has regressed: Even though we are in the most profitable department, we have not received the compensation we deserve. The bonuses are the same as those in other departments, so don't assume that your待遇 will be better if you join the Brand Department.... Also, because of the recent layoff turmoil, the mid-year bonus that had always existed was said to be merged into the year-end bonus...(but no one knows whether it will actually happen)

2. Talent is not valued: Last year, all colleagues were closely connected and united, and the discussions and feedback in meetings were meaningful. But after the layoffs, a certain "female manager" whom everyone has been discussing intensely online.... She sees herself as a senior executive and, out of personal preference, laid off employees who had met their performance targets, replacing each one with former colleagues she favored (for every person laid off, she hired one replacement). At first, I thought that if they performed well and had a unique marketing sense, I would fully support their being "parachuted in" and see it as a positive move. But several months have passed, and performance has only continued to decline. The constant promotions have not improved things either, and the content on the fan page has become increasingly LOW-quality... It makes me wonder whether this company seriously manages and evaluates new employees.

3. Employee benefits have been reduced: There used to be dessert afternoon tea twice a week, but it all disappeared after the layoffs, while the same amount of welfare fees is still deducted from our salaries.

4. Some managers need to improve their professionalism: I often hear profanity flying back and forth. The atmosphere is truly much worse than before.

5. The brand is increasingly becoming like a no-name white-label brand: When I first joined this department, I really liked Niuer's and Kevin Teacher's brands, and I also thought beautymaker was one of the few brands with a wide variety of products that I would want to repurchase (I really like using the Water Mask and foundation brush). But recently, when I opened the brand app, I was a little shocked... It is filled with promotions and feels a lot like 86 or 小三. But with performance this poor, is promotion really the only path left?

I deeply feel that it is such a shame for this department...

In short, if you are thinking of joining this company, perhaps consider another department, because the Brand Department is truly a mess right now...(Writing this, I feel that I should also start preparing...)

Pros

I am still currently employed (working for the company’s own brand), and I can’t help but share the current situation with everyone─

In the past:

You could freely express your opinions and ideas, with plenty of opportunities and room to try new things.

You could work on diverse areas of online marketing and e-commerce, and even plan around the brand’s core, strengthening your abilities and portfolio.

The supervisor would vigorously discuss things with you. Although stern, the interactions were energetic, and if you had a valid point, the supervisor would acknowledge it.

The supervisor would provide capable employees with reasonable, smooth opportunities for promotion.

After a certain female manager joined the Brand Department (those joining the Brand Department, please be careful):

You do not need to use your brain at all; just do whatever she says, and your brain can get plenty of rest.

No matter how you perform, as long as you are not someone she brought from her previous company, you will not be recognized. You can learn early about the warmth and coldness of human relationships.

You can barely tell people that you have worked in e-commerce and online marketing, but in reality, good opportunities will never be given to you. They will only go to people from her former company whom she brought in. Those people can claim to have worked in e-commerce without doing much of anything, so the cost-performance ratio is actually quite high.

You can keep arriving late, because she will arrive even later than you.

You can hear all kinds of vulgar profanity and learn about local culture.

You may be replaced at any time, even if you perform well, though you can receive a little severance pay.

Cons

In the past:

The supervisor was somewhat stern, but was actually focused on the issue rather than the person. If you had a valid point, the supervisor would strongly support you and even help advocate for resources from higher management.

After a certain female manager joined the Brand Department (those joining the Brand Department, please be careful):

She takes credit for achievements and shifts poor results onto colleagues or predecessors, taking the opportunity to replace people and bring in former colleagues who lack ability and are rather rude.

No matter how many ideas you have, they cannot stand up to one swear word from her. Once she starts speaking, do not even think about expressing your ideas.

No matter how hard the employees below her work or how complete their ideas and plans are—even if she has approved the plans—she will never argue her case or advocate for resources from higher management. She uses vulgar language constantly with employees, but is as obedient as a cat when dealing with those above her.

She joins forces with another female manager to control all the power, and is also very good at bullying other managers. If you happen to work under a manager being bullied, you will be disliked along with them.

Pros

1. Once—once, once (it is very important to say it three times)—the company’s internal colleagues were harmonious and autonomous, brave enough to express their personal opinions, with room for discussion as well as standards for checks and balances.

2. Once—once, once (it is very important to say it three times)—there was a weekly reading group where people shared good books and discussed them as a group. Now no one speaks, and the quality of the reports has declined.

3. Interview travel expenses—if you care about that little bit of money.

4. Birthday parties—if you love eating PIZZA every month. There is no cash gift.

Cons

1. (Heard, rumored, dreamed) The infighting among the Brand Division managers is severe. If you follow the wrong boss, even taking a drink of water is wrong, and breathing air is criticized as wasteful. No matter what you do, you can never meet the standard. Such an excessively high standard may make you wonder: Uh, am I working at Ogilvy or the Presidential Office?

When you ask, “What needs to be improved?” the answer you get will be: “I just don’t like it. It’s so ugly, so terrible! Who would buy it!” (The same as my five-year-old niece’s opinion of toys.)

2. Decisions never make any sense, and you are not allowed to question them.

3. In just half a year of organizational planning, no one knows how many times people have been transferred. The job responsibilities are more chaotic than Taipei’s Linsen North Road, and again, you are not allowed to question them.

4. On the one hand, they tell subordinates how stupid and incompetent the boss is; on the other hand, they tell the boss that the subordinates are not capable enough, while their former colleagues are so strong, excellent, and high-caliber. You might assume those former colleagues worked at Ogilvy, the Presidential Office, or a Fortune 500 company. Wrong! They came from an online apparel retailer you may never have heard of in your entire life. And so, the original colleagues were gradually sidelined, had their positions hollowed out, and were placed on the redundancy list. Then, the former colleagues from the online apparel retailer appeared one by one—an impostor replacing the rightful heir.

5. Among the current Brand Division managers, few capable people remain. The rest are very good at spouting nonsense; apart from solid flesh around their bellies, you can’t see much ink. When decisions need to be made, they disappear, but as soon as subordinates have made the decisions, they immediately reappear. This is not an urban legend!

6. Dear job seekers, this place was once full of talented people. However, if you were not obedient, you could only be schemed out, wasting your talent. Still, as long as you follow the right boss, flatter the right person, and cling tightly to the right powerful connections, there are benefits: milk tea and fried chicken cutlets served to you. Before long, your belly will also be filled with solid....

The story is too long to finish; to be continued in the next installment.

Pros

If you are someone who is not good at using your brain or whose mind has already become rigid, congratulations—this is a great place for you to retire, because only people who do not use their brains and never proactively offer ideas are welcome here. If you meet the above qualifications, you can stay here until the end of time—until you are afraid to move to your next company, or rather, you may find it difficult to move to another company because you have become too accustomed to simply following orders and have forgotten that you once possessed the ability to think. Who would dare hire you? Over time, you will become something society has discarded. But if all you want is a paycheck, welcome aboard!

Cons

The company has a department that is a major source of revenue. I watched helplessly as it fell from a high point, struggled back up, and has now become utterly stagnant. Perhaps I simply had a dream—let’s call it a nightmare. They have caused the company as a whole to deteriorate further and further... Ever since a heavyset female manager named the “savior”—or, more accurately, someone who considers herself a savior—joined the department, nothing has improved; in fact, things have gotten worse. Here is a specific list of her conduct:

1. She targets people rather than issues and judges matters with favoritism. If someone is on her side, everything they do is okay; no matter how much someone outside her circle does, it is never enough.

2. She arrives extremely late every day, goes out for a cigarette once every hour during work, and is very punctual when leaving.

3. She sidelines people she dislikes and brings in her own people.

4. She has no filter and constantly swears.

5. During meetings, whenever she encounters someone or something she dislikes or finds irritating, she rolls her eyes without hesitation and shows no respect for others.

6. She only criticizes and never offers her own ideas, contributing nothing to the department; she relies entirely on talking.

If you are planning to join this company’s “flagship brand” department, think twice.

Also, the company as a whole is essentially a retirement home. That can be either an advantage or a disadvantage, depending on the person.

There are hardly any benefits—everything is points-based. The only thing that remains now is the monthly birthday gathering...

Pros

1. (Dining, interviews, afternoon tea) The environment is excellent

2. The workplace location and transportation access are excellent

3. The workspace is fairly large

4. Transportation expenses are subsidized for interviews

5. Most managers communicate in a fairly rational manner

6. As long as you have the ability to get in, the full-time salary is above average

Cons

1. It is a responsibility-based system; staying at work until after 8:30 p.m. is commonplace

2. There is no overtime pay

3. Many people have never heard of this website (it is increasingly declining)

4. No one has time to train you and let you learn gradually (you are expected to be ready for immediate deployment)

5. Even when you point out problems currently affecting the company, most of the long-standing problems remain unchanged

6. No matter how hard you work, you cannot see the results

7. It is not suitable for those looking for a quiet, long-term position; there are constantly new projects, so you need to be able to handle a lot of pressure

8. What the manager says must be carried out; there is no “no” or discussion about it

9. Everyone is expected to take on multiple roles; do not expect cross-departmental assistance, as it usually leads nowhere

10. Managers will require you not to leave work on time.

Pros

At the very beginning of the interview, the company requires applicants to fill out extremely detailed personal information and sign a consent form stating that their personal data will be retained for five years even if they are not hired or choose not to join the company. The purpose is unclear, so those who are concerned about personal data should consider this carefully.

Interviewees are provided with transportation reimbursement.
