Cons

A family-owned business—those who know, know. Real authority is not determined by the system, but by whom you are closer to.

Senior management has a very domineering style and considerable authority over whether employees stay or leave. If they feel that someone “has not contributed,” they may demand that person leave, while the actual reasons and standards are not transparent.

The company is business-oriented, but everyone can see which employees supervisors take care of and who receives the resources.

Internal political infighting is very serious. When departments encounter problems, the first priority is often not to solve them. A great deal of time is spent dealing with interpersonal relationships and assigning responsibility—instead of solving the problem, people first try to prove that “it’s not my problem.”

When problems are reported to senior management, they are often not resolved; instead, they are pushed downward, ultimately leaving frontline employees to swallow the consequences themselves.

Salaries are completely uncompetitive compared with those of competitors. They offer candidates less than their current salary, yet keep asking, “Why not consider joining us?”

An overtime culture genuinely exists. Those who want to leave work on time and maintain work-life balance should think twice.

The SOP is effectively a dead letter; actual implementation is often another matter. If certain supervisors raise an issue, they may be able to bypass the original process directly, making the system prone to varying depending on the person involved.

Pros

No unnecessary meetings, convenient location and transportation, and colleagues are easy to get along with

Cons

If you work in sales, I strongly do not recommend this company. During the interview, they said there would be no overtime, but as soon as you join, you start working overtime. As soon as they see that you have experience, they immediately give you a pile of styles and orders to follow up on. The system is extremely difficult to use, resulting in even longer overtime hours. However, the IT department does not care—salespeople are the ones who suffer, and salespeople are also the ones who work overtime. Other than the sales department, most people can basically leave work around six or seven o’clock.

Some salespeople can also leave work early, but it depends on your luck and which client you are assigned.

A manager in one department is extremely stingy and thinks that working overtime is a normal part of your job. They do not care how heavy your workload is. As long as you do not resign, they will let things continue. Only when you resign might they try to retain you by offering a salary adjustment. The promise during the interview that your salary would be adjusted after the probation period is a lie.

The environment is cramped, and there is almost nowhere to put samples and bulk-production items. The space becomes so crowded that even the seats are extremely narrow, and you may still be criticized and told to quickly organize the samples on hand. Everyone is already working overtime for the company, yet the company does not help sales staff clear out a place to put bulk-production samples and garments, while constantly urging them to organize everything. It is truly frustrating...

There are many cockroaches in the pantry. You can even see cockroaches running around the microwave while heating your lunch, and sometimes you will also see one or two at your desk.

There are no salary raises, the year-end bonus is one month’s salary, and I have never received any additional bonus.

The hardware is outdated, and toilet paper is not provided, so bring it from home.

Pros

The work covers a wide range of tasks, and various situations keep arising, so you can grow quickly and learn how to handle many different types of problems.

Cons

The work is overly complex and there is too much of it. Colleagues are not very close to one another. There are many unusual situations at the factory and with customers. The supervisor often likes to ask you work-related questions after you have finished work or while you are taking personal leave, or immediately assigns you tasks when you look like you are about to leave (even though they are not urgent; they just want you to finish them right away).

This was truly the worst interview experience I've ever had...

Looking for a job while employed is already difficult. I had confirmed this point before the interview (they clearly knew that I was currently employed).

When I arrived for the interview, I only found out that the HR representative was on leave that day. Since the HR representative hadn't left any instructions, I waited outside for more than 10 minutes before another HR representative took me into the meeting room...

After spending half an hour completing a test, two senior employees from the department came in for the interview. But it could hardly be called an interview—they only started looking at my résumé after coming in, and knew absolutely nothing about me. When I tried to introduce myself, they barely listened and just kept saying things like, “You don't have any experience,” and “This job requires someone who can take a lot of pressure,” etc. (It felt like they were recruiting very blindly...) They didn't discuss the salary at all, then hurriedly said, “My client is still waiting for me. If you don't have any questions, we'll end the interview here, okay?” (???

A week later, another HR representative suddenly called me, completely unaware of the situation, to discuss my salary. This time it was even more outrageous.... They offered me a salary below the market rate and asked whether I could accept it. I answered honestly, and they still said, “Because you don't have experience in this position.” I was completely dumbfounded... I directly asked them, “If you think my background isn't suitable, then why did you invite me to the interview??” I'm not a newcomer—I have at least two years of work experience. Yet they directly said I had no relevant experience @@ My previous job was at least in the same industry.... (I had absolutely no idea what the HR department was thinking.) Before the interview, I had filled out the personnel form extremely carefully. Forget not matching my previous salary—they even offered less... And they claim their salaries are competitive? That's hilarious.... It's hard to believe this is a large company. The terrible organization and systems were completely exposed during the interview....

This is truly an awful company. If they aren't actually hiring, they shouldn't randomly contact people and waste their time!

If you receive an interview invitation from them, unless you really have a lot of free time, don't take time off work specifically to attend. It is seriously a huge waste of time....

They show absolutely no respect for interviewees. I believe working there would not be pleasant either. I'm seriously begging you, don't go...

If they treat job seekers this carelessly, they deserve to be busy until the end of time.

And a message to job seekers: No matter how insecure you are, many garment companies wouldn't offer such a senseless salary! For a company this awful, don't use yourself as a test case!!!!

Pros

1. There is a bonus of NT$3,000 for the Mid-Autumn Festival and Dragon Boat Festival.

2. Flexible working hours from 8:30 to 9:30.

3. The year-end bonus is fixed at one month’s salary, while the profit-sharing bonus depends on the company’s profits.

4. With two years of experience in the garment industry, I expected a monthly salary of at least NT$40,000. The manager (assistant manager) offered NT$37,000 and said the salary would be adjusted based on job performance later. (The advantage is that the manager was very honest.)

Cons

1. I spent a lot of time just waiting for the manager. The interview was expected to take two hours, but actually took nearly three hours. (The manager had a meeting at the last minute, resulting in approximately an hour and a half of waiting in between.)

2. The manager was extremely eager to fill the position, which made me feel a lot of pressure. Since the position I applied for was to fill a vacancy in sales, they hoped I could start work as early as the following week.

3. The HR representative seemed somewhat dishonest. When asked about overtime hours, the HR representative’s tone suggested that the company hardly ever required overtime, while the manager said that the office usually turns off all the lights at 8 p.m. (The implication seemed to be that employees would generally need to work an additional hour.)

Pros

The work environment is pretty good. I was fortunate to have a good manager who was willing to teach. Even when I made mistakes, they would help me deal with them.

Cons

There is a serious overtime culture. The company itself is conservative, and it feels like it is not making much progress. Turnover is fairly high. In addition, the pay is average. However, the company is large, so you can interact with various departments and learn a lot.

Pros

The location is convenient, and the company environment is fairly comfortable.

Cons

From the very first day after joining, I felt like I was being treated as a machine. There was no introduction and no training whatsoever; as soon as you arrived, you were assigned full-time work, regardless of whether you had relevant experience. You had to try to search for information online by yourself, because no one would teach you. Apart from going to the bathroom, there was virtually no chance to stand up—you just kept working and working. As someone with no experience, I spent 12 hours at the company every day without overtime pay (the application requirements were so difficult that fortunately, no one bothered to apply). To put it bluntly, I don't know what I learned; I only knew that I was constantly being urged to start the next task. Not having time to absorb or understand anything was a very serious problem.

However, the above applies to Business Group 4; I don't know whether the situation is the same in the other groups!

Pros

The company is profitable, so it maintains a steady, middling state—neither good nor bad. Year-end bonuses are usually fixed. The benefits are also neither good nor bad.

Cons

It has the characteristics commonly seen in traditional companies. There are numerous entrenched factions, each pursuing its own interests. Progress is slow, and there is little sense of an atmosphere or momentum for innovation. Promotions and performance bonuses are not transparent. As a family-owned business, it consequently carries certain baggage.

Pros

For example, only after taking a break was overtime application made available. The meal allowance system (NT$100 per day) was abolished, but in practice employees are limited to applying for only one hour of overtime per day (based on their salary ratio). The key issue is that not every employee’s application will be approved, which makes it feel as though there is another set of standards for reviewing overtime applications—perhaps involving a maximum number of people, or something similar. This undermines the original good intentions and does not address the reasons employees work overtime, such as uneven workloads and staff shortages. Perhaps this is an impact of the low profit margins in traditional industries, but employees hope for reasonable policies and an open, transparent explanation from management, rather than blindly forcing “harmony” and ignoring the issue. Those who hope the company will become increasingly harmonious and progressive should stay.
