I recommend not coming here, that's all. The company seems like it's about to go under now, right? I've been gone for many years. The last time I went back, I found that it had gone from occupying two floors to just one room on one floor. Pretty miserable. The boss seemed very unconcerned about the internal organization. During my time there, I only saw the marketing and engineering departments being active; the atmosphere in the other departments was truly terrible, with serious infighting, unfriendliness toward newcomers, inadequate SOPs, and a whole host of other problems. At the time, it caused me to miss my period for four months, and I had to go to the gynecologist and get two injections before it finally came.

You could even go an entire day without saying a word at work. The full-time employees in the department were extremely unfriendly—one could even say their attitude was outright nasty. Getting dirty looks when asking questions was an everyday occurrence, and many people did it. There were only a few people in the department, so how could this kind of culture exist? What's wrong with a newcomer asking questions? They also formed little cliques. During team-building activities, a group of people would huddle together. Even when seats had already been assigned, someone would come and sit directly in front of you, leaving you awkwardly having to walk away yourself.

During lunch, I ate in the break room. Although the sofa clearly had three seats, someone would lie across it so no one else could sit. When the break room was full, you could only eat outside in the pantry, which was extremely makeshift. Full-time employees would take their own elevator; if they saw an intern waiting to go down, they would tell you to wait for the next one yourself. Full-time employees got first choice of vacation days, while interns were expected to take whatever dates were left, and sometimes couldn't take any time off at all. At work, someone would play their own music through a Bluetooth speaker at an extremely loud volume, without caring about anyone else's feelings. If you put on headphones because you didn't want to listen to it, they would give you dirty looks and click their tongue, and even scold you for not being able to hear them when they called you. They would set the air conditioning to suit themselves; even when others were freezing and coming down with severe colds, turning it off would get you scolded and told to figure out how to cope without touching the air conditioner. (But nobody else wanted it on—only that person did.)

There is too much to list. The person who rolls their eyes when you ask questions would even lean their whole body backward. If you didn't reply to a message within three seconds, they would bombard you on LINE, then screenshot the message, circle it in red, and interrogate you about why you hadn't seen it. If I didn't see it, I didn't see it—why does there have to be a reason? Maybe I didn't see it because I was working? They deliberately made things difficult and pressured you to explain why you hadn't seen the message. What exactly were you supposed to say? This person caused even more problems at work. They would be the first to jump out and criticize others when they made a mistake, but when they made a mistake themselves, they acted as if they hadn't seen it or didn't know about it. Absolutely disgusting. The entire department environment was truly disgusting.

Pros

Flat organizational structure

Startup culture

The boss is nice

Cons

I only found out when I reported for work that part-time employees do not sign their employment contracts with this parent company.

They will be listed under another company owned by the boss.

If you plan to become a full-time employee in the future, your years of service will be forfeited.

This is very bad.

Even after passing the part-time probationary period, there will be no salary increase, although the contract states that there will be one.

Pros

The company's full-time employee benefits are pretty good.

Cons

1. I had been working here as a student worker for over a year. Everyone who started at the same time as me passed their probationary evaluations, but their salaries were not adjusted. (The probationary period has its own evaluation criteria, and salaries can be adjusted as long as the criteria are met. We all met them, but the supervisor just said, “I’ll adjust it for you after some more time.”) I waited for over a year, and they still refused to make any adjustment.

2. Supervisors in other departments actively promote their student workers, but Maomao, the supervisor of the Operations Department, never promotes anyone and comes up with all kinds of excuses not to give raises. (They were unwilling even to make the most basic adjustment from probationary to regular status.) One student worker performed extremely well and had no shortcomings, but she was also told that her salary would be adjusted later.

3. As a student worker, whether you could take leave depended on the supervisor’s mood. At the time, I was still in school, so I informed them two months in advance due to academic reasons, yet I was still treated coldly and had my leave request form dismissively tossed back at me.

4. I notified them two months in advance, reminded them once the month before the leave date, and reminded them again during that week, but they said, “Why didn’t you tell me earlier?” ==?? I was completely baffled. I sent a screenshot of the conversation, and they only replied, “Oh.”

5. The Operations Department supervisor was unbelievably terrible. They constantly monitored what you were doing. (There was a system that recorded the number of products photographed.) I had diarrhea and went to the bathroom for 10 minutes, and they interrogated and berated me. Please—I had photographed the most products in the entire department that day.

6. At the time, full-time employees could request leave very easily. Four or five of us student workers, dissatisfied with the situation, went to ask full-time employees whether requesting leave was difficult for them. One of them reported to Ziyou-ge, and they said it was easy. Another was a full-time employee managed by Maomao, and they said that they thought my reason for leave was legitimate and that it should be fine, but I often saw how difficult it was for you student workers to get leave approved.

7. When a family member was sick and I needed to take leave to go to the hospital, they still interrogated me relentlessly about the reason for my leave. @@???

8. Once, a coworker needed to request leave (I don’t remember the exact date).

Suppose she wanted to take leave on 7/11 and submitted the request on 6/29. The supervisor never responded. She sent another message with a sticker on 7/10 asking whether she could take leave, and then the supervisor replied on 7/13, saying, “We’re short-staffed, so no.”

?? She requested leave for 7/11, but you replied on 7/13. @@ The date had already passed.

I’m genuinely baffled as to how someone with this level of management ability ever rose to this position.

9. The company isn’t bad, and the owner isn’t bad either, but the one and only flaw is that the supervisor is unbelievably, unbelievably, unbelievably terrible. Every time, the entire department is full of negative energy and complaints about this supervisor, and then at the all-hands meeting we see that they’ve been promoted again?

The owner’s only flaw is having poor judgment when it comes to people.

When she was promoted, she failed to notice how lifeless and gloomy the entire Operations Department had become.

People were even unwilling to applaud.

I really don’t understand how she ever got promoted.

(PS: At the time, she helped photograph the products. One supervisor photographed them in a completely chaotic manner, with many shots taken incorrectly, but no one dared say anything and could only quietly fix them afterward.)

***Summary: Absolutely terrible

I went for an interview last month, and it was just like the discussion thread here.

The interviewer was extremely arrogant, staring at the laptop screen from beginning to end without ever looking the candidate in the eye.

After asking a long list of standard questions, they were evasive when it came to answering questions from the candidate.

While answering questions, the HR representative had a disdainful expression and did not believe the interviewer's answers.

They insisted on probing every detail, which made me feel extremely uncomfortable.

In the earlier discussion thread, I saw the founder personally respond and say that they would remind colleagues to pay attention.

It seems that this has not happened.

HR represents the company's public face. Judging from this, it seems that this company does not value job candidates.

Pros

The expected salary was not cut.

Cons

During the interview, if you give a neutral answer, they will keep pressing you for details. For example, I answered that the reason for leaving my previous job was that the project had reached its conclusion, but the company seemed dissatisfied with this answer. Their attitude then became increasingly aggressive, as they wanted to get to the bottom of everything, leaving me speechless and unable to cope. Although I was later offered the job, I decided not to accept it after considering that communication in the future would probably be difficult.

Pros

Last year, in 2016, I interviewed for a graphic design position. After submitting my résumé, I received an email with 7–8 questions; only after replying would they evaluate whether I could get an interview. On the day of the interview, there were roughly 10-plus women and 2–3 men inside. The company environment felt fairly pleasant: coworkers chatted and interacted with one another and played with a cat (?). First, there was a one-hour banner-design test, followed by a 15-minute test with 10 logical-thinking questions. After that came a series of interviews. I was asked far too many questions—around 20 in total—and talked for about 40 minutes. They were mostly the usual questions: introduce yourself, why you wanted to join this company, explain what they do, why you left your previous job, how you overcome problems, and so on. I suddenly wondered whether their HR department (?) had too much free time and had set up too many meaningless hurdles.

The schedule was five days a week, with weekends off and public holidays off; working hours were from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Later, when the topic of pay came up, although they had initially told me that they were only recruiting part-time employees (student workers), the hourly wage listed on 104 was NT$120–200 (the Labor Bureau had not yet raised the minimum wage last year). I had hoped that I could negotiate the rate—perhaps a starting wage of over NT$150—but they already had a fixed, miserly pay scale: NT$120 to start, NT$130 after three months, and another adjustment after six months. They were not considering hiring full-time employees at the time, and the company did not have a graphic designer or offer any opportunity to become a full-time employee after working part-time. In other words, they wanted to hire a professional graphic designer at an hourly rate; doing the math, the monthly pay would not even reach NT$22,000. Is this not looking down on graphic designers? Those looking for full-time work should not waste their time at this company. They only seem to want obedient, gullible, cheap part-time or intern labor, while several of the same perennial openings remain posted indefinitely.

Pros

After completing the questionnaire, three young interviewers came in, but none of them briefly explained their job title. One of them started with a self-introduction, and after that, began asking a series of basic interview questions: the reason for leaving your previous job, why you wanted to join our company, what you knew about the company, whether you had looked at the official website, and what could be improved. While answering these questions, one of them had a very disdainful facial expression and even pursed their lips, which made me feel extremely uncomfortable.

If you’re thinking of going for an interview, please think twice. Oh yeah, I’m really glad I didn’t get the job, hahaha.

Pros

Before the interview, applicants are asked to complete a questionnaire. The first questionnaire is a personality assessment and career development survey (approximately 10 questions). After completing the first questionnaire, interviewees are asked to fill out a second questionnaire, which covers professional knowledge (approximately 25–30 questions). The entire questionnaire process takes a long time (about 3–5 days), wasting considerable effort and time. Please evaluate carefully.
